It seems that it is very easy to find all ships in sector with combat scanners and they always give right results. There are no countermeasures for scanning except cloaking device. I am proposing Decoy.
Decoy is an anchorable probe that gives false scan results. You can program it to give scan results of any ship in game for example Hulk in asteroid belt (anchor probe in asteroid belt). Anchoring time can limit probes use and makes it difficult to farm them in large numbers. Probes are also easy to destroy.
Here is my modest suggestion to make life more interesting in low sec/null sec. Im ready to hear comments of my suggestion. Bad comments and good comments are all welcome. |

Great idea. Maybe tie the probes to a ship class that needs revision such as destroyers.

This may be the best idea I've ever seen in this forum.
I like the idea of giving specific classes of ships the unique ability to launch them (like destroyers), but I could also see them being tied to the ship type launching the decoy. (Drake launches a decoy, probes see a Drake. Hulk launches a decoy, probes see a Hulk.) You could even combine the two - Destroyers could program the probe to any hull in the game (maybe need larger decoy "ammo" for larger hulls?) while other ships can only make decoys of themselves.
Might even be worth adding specialized destroyers (new ships and new skills!) that can make decoys that look like POSes and other structure, wrecks, wormholes, cosmic signatures, or anything else.

lol, drop one that looks like a POS in the middle of a belt in null, no-one would touch you unless they had a disposable ship. or just drope like 500 that look like WHs all ovr the place and watch them cry.

hm... a fake holographic ship... I want one of those lol!... or maybe a holographic generator that doesnt go away if someone gets close... That way you can turn into an asteroid lol!!!
To pull you out of the hologram they can... 1 use some probe or shoot all asteroids until they hit you lol!... Hiss!!!! |

Now that you make me think about that more...
Skills limit how many decoys one pilot can have in space. Skills affect how long a decoy lasts, assuming it isn't shot down. Logging off a pilot causes decoy timers to drop to 5 minutes. (Wouldn't want to kill the server performance or anything...)
