I am thinking about creating an alt and want a way to make money with it. I thought about a mission runner but I want something more... AFK. So I ended up with mining.
I have never touched a mining lazor, I even vowed never to try mining (but that is ofc only for this char ). So I have no clue how any of that stuff work.
So I want to know:
- What is the average isk/h? for the average hulk?
- What is the average isk/h for a maxed hulk?
- How do I mine?
- How long does it take before I can start to mine in a hulk?
- Skillplan?
Thanks in advance! My solution to micro-transactions/noble exchange and CCPs money problem! |

Really one character mining in a hulk is pointless and will not bring in even a decent isk/h
You need a hauler too even just a char to sit there in an itiron and haul the ore to a station so that the hulk does not have to stop mining.
Mining is only good money now if you have a hauler and more then one miner and then also the skills to turn it into ships/equipment to really get a good isk/h.
and with 3 hulks and a hauler that is not yet in an orca i make about 45 to 50 mil isk/h but that should go up as soon as i have an orca.

If you want to AFK mine I recommend you pick Ice mining over Rock mining. Far more conducive to AFK play and more ISK/hr.
Not sure about training time, but I imagine it's at least 30 days. Fire up Evemon and target Exhumers II and the skill needed for Ice Havester I. That's a base. Add mining upgrades and the usual navigation/shield/armor/etc. skills and you're probably looking at 60 days assuming you have implants.

Edited by: Centis Adjani on 12/07/2011 20:06:22 For your questions number 1 & 2 (and some more, you'll get later), take a look at this complete guide about mining:
Haladas Mining Guide
No. 3: Sit in a mining barge or another ship fittet with mining turrets. Warp to belt, target an Asteroid and engage the turrets.
No. 4: Approx 2 months.
No 5: You'll start best with a Retriever Mining Barge and Strip Miner I Laser. Forget Procurer, this ship is crap. For these you need following skills: * Industry Level 5 * Mining Level 4 * Science Level 4 * Astrogeology Level 4 * Mining Barge Level 3 ============================================================== Then you need to skill Covetor Mining Barge: * Astrogeology Level 5 * Mining Barge Level 5 ============================================================== At last the additionalk skills for Hulk Exhumer (= Tech 2 - Covetor) * Spaceship Command Level 4 * Exhumers Level 3 ============================================================== If you want to use Modulated Strip Miner II (with crystals - refer to Haladas Mining Guide), you need * Mining Level 5

Mining minerals in high-sec = 10m/hour with Exhumers 4, t2 mining drones and someone to collect ore. Orca boost = +25-33%

Minerals and Ore sell cheaper in nulsec... the constant demand in hisec keeps the prices higher
The only reason to mine in nulsec is you live there or you are after the ABC / Mercoxit ores, even then, they can all be found in a WH (mercoxit not so sure). - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - EVE: TESTING GROUNDS FOR WoD & DUST SINCE 2011 |

There is Mercoxit in wromholes, but only in higher end belts. I think it has to be atleast a C2-3 before there's even the chance, and it's more likely with higher class holes.

It appears about twice a week in our c5 wormhole. We never mine it though as we dont have the skills :S

In terms of Isk/hr i have heard about 10-20 mil/hr in high sec with Orca support (not hard to find in my mining systems) and about 50 mil an hour for ABC ores in null sec. Obviously that number is straight selling so to get that number youd have to either refine it, ship it out and sell it, or make ships/etc and sell those.

All mining is terrible income unless its AB. Even C sucks these days.
For AFK mining a mackinaw is nice. Its only 3.8 mil an hour but its 28.5 minutes of AFK time. Its great for dual boxing eve and WoW. Hehe. Its pretty good for dual boxing eve too, and for daytrading.
Or you can afk ice mine in a hulk, which is about 50 minites IIRC.
. Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.

as soon as i read this part i stopped reading your post.
Currently in high sec i mine around 40mil an hour over 1 orca and 3 hulks, plenty of isk to support them via plex and a single GTC

10-12mil for a single hulk, +30% with orca. Hauling not considered. ABC mining is ~25m/h.
Mack mining is quite high atm, i mine 10m/h in a orca-boosted Mack, afk time 5min33 (ice harvesters desynched, 1.5 cycles)
