Originally by: CCP Dropbear Hey guys,
I'm currently sitting in the Paris at Vegas, and I'm functioning on 2hrs sleep, so a proper reply will probably have to come later, most likely Monday, when I'm back.
I've been quite busy the last few days preparing a presentation for EVE Vegas on live events. Somewhat amusing that events have suffered as a result, and somewhat frustrating, too. A humble request here, to bear with us a few more days, and try not to kill each other (too much) in the meantime.
Anyways, putting this presentation together has sort of helped crystallize a bunch of things, and once I make it throigh this weekend, I intend to not only answewr the latest questions here, but speak more broadly about the big picture driving these events, and what we hope to see from them.
Much luv,
Confirming you're a one man event team?

I am quite sure I understand an important aspect of the problem, I call it the many voices dichotomy.
In situations of many voices expressing a view point. It is necessary to make clear unequivocal statements to be persuasive.
However the nature of inquiry (scientific and otherwise) means equivocal or highly qualified statements by comparison whilst being much more appropriate in complex topics, lack persuasiveness.
The ideas correctly expressed with subtle and nuanced arguments lose traction, whilst simple ideas and arguments cut through the noise to win out.
Those that have lived and breathed this mystery for years we need to take note of this effect, simplify our positions into convincing memes in order to carry to massed newbies joining the investigation in AJ.

Based on his preso, Dropbear and Headfirst share live event duty, but Dropbear takes the lead on the Sleeper storyline while Headfirst takes the lead on Sansha and factional warfare events.
I'll write up my notes more properly tomorrow as I've had a little bit to drink at EVE Vegas myself tonight.

Wow you are present at the EVE Vegas? By any chance, do you know if anyone filmed CCP Dropbear talking about Live Events? If so, could someone kindly post it on youtube?

Dropbear noted on Twitter that he will potentially post his preso and do a Wall of Text. I've been badgering him mercilessly.

It's up on eve-radio.com, I was told, though I don't see it right now.
Also, I have a writeup on his talk and hours of conversation with him on my blog.

I've uploaded the presentation write-up to EVE Files. You can grab it here. It's a fairly fast and loose summary (to match it's delivery ) so if there's anything unclear, etc just let me know.

But when you wrote it, were you drunk and dropped your keyboard four or five times?
Because otherwise, it's just not the same.

Really informative, Dropbear.
If the project can produce material kind to The Haakkainen Musings it will indeed be a success. I am in the process myself of transferring all my OOC knowledge into an IC setting. There is a lot, so the slow speed of the project is appreciated. Especially as I have found new pieces of old stories that might intervene with this and want to document on that.
That many role players are drama queens is old news. It is like a condition. They idolize their own character and make him capable for doing all the awesome stuff they can think off. Difficulties arrives when this "brilliant scientist" has to be played and the amateurish, or non-existent, knowledge on scientific method and approach of the player behind shines through the character. Like the "elite fighter pilot" who never undocks or have faced another capsuleer in combat.
When you talk about education, it is in fact my hope some people eventually will learn what the difference between wild speculation and scientific theories really is. Even tough the science here is 'fictional', like Aywnie states.
