Seems like way too much effort over something.
I remember when atheist just didnt give a ****. I'll be damned if the militant atheists dont bother me as much as Mormons. Least they wear a suit and tie...and are polite when attempting to cram their views down your throat.

And like I said I dont mind their non beliefs I just mind their obtrusiveness of cramming their non beliefs down others throats. In sad way they've become their own religion... It's just not about faith.
Hint religion is not the same as having a faith or belief in a deity or whatever the hell someone wants to believe.

You're right, they aren't at all the same.
Belief in a deity is stupidity.
Religion is organized stupidity.
You may now continue your pointless rant about imaginary atheists cramming non-belief down your throat at gunpoint. -----------

Well I dont know where you live, but here i've seen them put up billboards, have weekly meetings, have air time on TV, and some have gone around handing out fliers or asking you about your beliefs. To me that's badgering... Or say a guy making a charade about wearing a spaghetti helmet. All to make a point. I have a problem with atheists I have a problem with militant atheists just have I have a problem with some religious guy stopping me on the boardwalk asking about if I think JC is my lord and savior... to which i replied no. And then he proceeded to tell me im going to hell, and getting in my face about.
So perhaps my point is I dont like other mucking in others affairs. And case in point the above comments go to show that if I dont 100% agree with atheist beliefs or non beliefs people mark you off as some sort of sheep being lead around AKA stupid. So no no problem with atheists rather the militant ones.

You mean just like the countless religious groups that do all of those things? Or the countless groups entirely unrelated to atheism or religion that do all of those things? How horrible it must be to live in a world in which atheists actually do the same things that everyone else does, we should all just disappear so your delicate feelings can be safe.
Quote: And then he proceeded to tell me im going to hell, and getting in my face about.
So, let me get this straight: having weekly meetings with other atheists or talking about it on the internet or whatever, these are all equal to getting in someone's face about how they're going to hell? Sorry, but no.

The ignorance is strong with this one...
Religion is a whole lot more than about just believing what is written in some book, its more than following certain rules.
I have no set religion at the mo, but I do understand religion, once you understand why people take it so seriously and are so devoted, everything becomes clear, and it is not just 'because they are stupid'

I.e. Getting all "in-your-face" if someone thinks differently to you.
Also, atheism is just as stupid as any other religion "stance-on-deities/whatever" as it asusmes an absolute understanding of the universe's origin.
Only agnostics are truelly irrefutable in their "belief system" (or whatever you want to call it); however they can't argue for/agaisnt anything as that would be, by strict definition, non-agnostic EVE Trivia EVE History

No one can claim absolute understanding of the universe and it's origin, I'm an atheist and I certainly don't think that. And please don't say that either way is stupid.
What's this thread even doing here anyway, I thought religious talk angered the volcano gods and brought the mods?
Edit: I remember reading one of Richard Dawkins books and he said something along the lines of anyone of any religion hating atheists more than they hate anyone of any other religion. So simply because they don't believe in any god they get treated like crap by all faiths.

No it isn't. Agnosticism is a cute ideological position, theoretically you should be agnostic about everything. In practice, you have to make decisions.
If someone threatens you with hellfire unless you do their bidding, you either believe him and do his bidding, or you don't, which means you either think hellfire awaits you or you don't believe him.
As for the trolling religions get, they need it and they deserve it.

While the definition is arguable (though most definitions include stance on a deity), your conclusion isn't always the case.
Many people e.g. Charles Darwin were agnostic because they just couldn't decide about the existence of a deity/higher being/whatever.
On one hand you have the stark constrast of creationism vs. evolution, whereby science cleary undermines any claims from religion.
On another hand you have a better melding of science and religion from the idea that one simply cannot create something from nothing regarding "before the big bang and even earleir etc." And then you get into the whole "but who created the deity vs. deities not following the same linear laws of time and space and blah de blah de blah" but that's an entirely different contraversial discussion
Hmm, surprised the thread's lasted this long!
