Well not a lot left to be said really.
Only a few minutes to spin down on the last of my four accounts.
Time for a few predictions and my reasons for heading for the exit.
- The forum will get over it. Those like myself who have unsubbed will run down the clock and leave. CCP will be happy to see that happen.
- DUST 514 will fail. Not only have SOE demonstrated that they are more than happy to harvest CCP's customer base for Planetside 2. They have very little to lose from this arrangement compared to CCP. DUST will not deliver rivers of gold for CCP and that will only further impact on CCP's bottom line.
- WoD will not be done. When this and DUST were initiated Iceland was living high on cheap, borrowed money. This is no longer the case. WoD will be dumped in preference to pumping the IP into EVE (i.e. lots of WiS) so CCP doesn't have to write off the development.
- MT will happen and isn't that relevant to the end game. CCP will use spin upon spin to get it into the game. They will introduce weasel words to claim NEX store items aren't by definition "gold ammo". People will make individual judgements. Even the prices aren't relevant.
- Expansions won't be what they used to be. Expansions will introduce frameworks, but no real content. MT will be required to unlock skills, modules to utlise these frameworks. That's probably why nothing gets fixed.
- CCP has tried to go from edgey and indy by aligning with a big player - and we will be screwed. Between SOE and CCP no part of the commercial agreement will be our happiness. Therefore we are now getting every play from the PR handbook and it sucks. It's a tough call as to whether or not their financial state is that fragile or they are just trying to strut and be bigger than what they are. Probably a bit of both to be honest.
- Average is the new Excellence. It must be frustrating for those who work at CCP but the fact there are now leaks, annoyed ex-staff supports the public perception that the people running the show are more interested in a buck than a brilliant game. There is no problem with CCP making money, they need to but they aren't showing us much respect.
I could write all day, but I don't have the time or energy any longer.
Peace out.

You're at least 2 years late in that realization. The last decent expansion was Apocrypha... ...and even that wasn't VERY good either... ...and it took quite a while to fix even half of the bugs it introduced.

Remember Atari and the EVE box ?

CCP really ****ed up man.
Obviously you are a six figure market analyst with experience in the MMO and console market that can afford to subscribe multiple accounts to any game they want. They could have had your money but they blew it. . Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.

more likely than MT being used to unlock new skills...
MT being used to unlock new expansion content. So you don't pay for gold ammo. You pay for different ammo. Ie., a new set of systems. A new race. A mini game arena in CQ. Stuff like that. To preserve the peace, it won't interact with the base eve game.
Basically, expansions won't be free.
Dust will fail. See 'Section 8' for an example. The smartest move they could make right now is get rid of WoD and focus on Eve.

SOE president John Smedley and Creative Director Matt Higby listed EVE Online and Battlefield 2 among outside games that have inspired their designs for Planetside 2.
Personally, I'm waiting for PS2. A Planetside improved with Eve-ish-lite resource holding sounds promising.

Nah. White Wolf has a great IP in WoD. In theory, CCP has learned a lot about MMO development with Eve and can apply that to WoD. I wouldn't write off WoD just yet, despite the half-ass nature apparent in a lot of Eve expansions. There's a reason why "refactoring" is a big part of agile development. WoD is a fresh start whereas Eve is a bit krufty and is essentially an eight year long learning experience.
OTOH, does anyone know how many writers they have working on WoD?
Quote: - MT will happen and isn't that relevant to the end game.
I don't think that CCP will milk the Eve player base with MTs. The protests and bad press pretty much put killed that idea. At this point, the MT store is just a means of prototyping the Dust (and WoD) store and items.

So much fail in this post not even funny I bet CCP has been hearing for the last 9 years that they are done LMAO. Your unhappy and burnout but please do not speak for anyone else but your sad self. So When I'm on my PS3 with my clan from MAG playing Dust and ur home raging wondering why people are still playing EVE and Dust.
My clan and I will be enjoying ourselves with Dust taking over facilities and double crossing people

Edited by: Ghoest on 15/07/2011 12:51:16 Akita has been saying this forever so its not quite like she has announced something profound.
The core of the matter is they havent introduced much real content since "Apocrypha". That doesnt mean the the game died after Apocrypha it just means that once you reach a point of boredom with that content then youre pretty much done.
Its not that something dramatic changed and there was a new game reality, its just that different people become bored with different content at various rates.
And then of course for many of us "Incarna" provided a bit of dramatic punctuational as we were approaching the point of boredom.
Wherever you went - Here you are.

I grew up in a small town with only two theaters. The town next to mine had one theater. After some years the owner of the adjacent town made an offer to the owner of our towns two theaters. When he bought them he assured us nothing would change.
Three months later he closed our theaters down and quadrupled the prices at his theater. :(

Good god you can see in to the future? Can I please have the winning lottery numbers for at least the next 2 years? No? Oh wait that's right, you can't actually see in to the future. You can however talk from your anus.

Again more looking in to the future and again more rectal talk. WoD will no doubt be finished as, unlike EVE when it first started, there is a pre-existing and massive fanbase already in place for the WoD IP.

More stating the obvious here as MT are ALREADY in place. As for whether they affect the "Endgame" who knows. I guess that all depends on the individuals idea of what exactly the "Endgame" in EVE actually is, no? Also, thus far the only irrelevant thing has been your post.

Expansions haven't been "what they used to be" for quite some time. The whole system changed for the introduction of Incursions, so yet again you provide no new insights. By this point its clear you just have an irrational dislike for MT, but you don't have the balls to just say you are quitting because of it.

Oh dear god, a company has expanded its possible player base by putting out a game that runs on a console!!! SHOCK HORROR!!! I would advise that since you probably have severe difficulties deciding which finger to pick your nose with, that you don't try and make "tough calls" regarding the financial status of a multi-million dollar company.

I think the best is yet to come when we really can walk around stations (rather than stay in one room). I'm really looking forward to meta games in stations etc.
DUST should make an interesting addition. It might have a good impact on exploration eventually.

People are bored with what they do in EvE. No-one is bored with all of EvE because no-one has enough SP to have tried it all. . Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.

Actually that is a false statement. There are several ways to accomplish testing or trying everything in EVE, just not under the same character. Multiboxers and large alliances buy/train characters for specific roles. You can have your industry, miner, trader, pvp, pve, explorer, scout, titan, drone, wormhole, CEO on different characters. Once you have the passive isk generating going there is no limit on how many accounts/characters you have and therefore can technically have the SP to accomplish everything in the game.
And yes it happens and yes several players play this way to try and keep from being bored.
