I'm currently developing an app for Mac that would allow easy lookup of market information (pulls from eve-central) along with a plethora of other features. Most of them concern market information, but it will eventually expand into a swiss-army knife of EVE tools.
Right now I'm trying to see how much interest there is out there for something like this, and also any suggestions other Mac users may have.
Any and all feedback is appreciated!
p.s. I'll post a download link to the App once I have something presentable... Very Soon! |

I would be very interested in something like this!
What Market Data you wanna present? I would be specially interested in Trading Information, so Buy/Sell Prices and so on.
Hoping to see your app soon

1. You're probably better off trying eve-marketdata.com simply because they're offering buy and sell order data which is IMO more useful than just straight pricing data.
2. +1 for using "plethora" correctly in a sentence.

Buy/Sell order information will be the first thing to be implemented and it will be available on a an item/region basis. That functionality just needs to be refined for searching, etc... Once that's complete I'll post a link for download.

Found this thread searching for help to get the evemarket data uploader working under wine... (no luck yet with either it or contribtastic...)
as for which service you should like to... i'm not sure which service is used more, but my sense is that eve marketdata is maintained a little more actively than eve central.
To be safe I guess I'd vote for compatibility with both.
thanks in advance for developing something for mac users

I would be very interested in something like this. I have actually dabbled some in writing my own but haven't gotten very far. Send me an in game email if you are looking for help on this project.

Glad to see there is a least a little bit of interest in this. I've got a new site that I just started. It's very, very empty right now. But feel free to check it out here:

I'm hoping to get a blog going, along with a wiki to talk about all things EVE on a Mac, as well as the tools that I, and others develop.

Edited by: Elwe Ewing on 17/08/2011 18:54:21 As a Mac owner and (in game) trader, I'm really much interested in your developing App. Got here searching for "Mac market data downloader".
Unfortunately I'm not a programmer nor a real world trader but I'll contribute with any idea which can be useful for a trader (up to you looking if it will be really useful or not: I'll just try to not clutter the things too much ) and any testing I can do (my machine: MacPro/OSX-10.6.8 at the moment).
My base idea was to, at least, "download" some or all the regional data, then place all in a spreadsheet (e.g. Calc) to analyze them: this can be just a raw first step (but I previously did for the real market, years ago). After any analysis (where "analysis" mainly means some kind of "sort and filter", just rarely some calculations, with a spreadsheet), should follow a "rule" for which the analysis itself will have some value for the trader.
Obviously any App built on data analysis can easily have graphic output but, for me, it's just a "second step" not ever useful (even, a spreadsheet can produce it).
Just having the "data dump" (CSV format) can be a good starting point, I bet.
Looking forward for any App you'll build and thanks in advance to work for the unconsidered Mac world.

Ok, just so I understand this correctly, you set up a new site, and the first thing you think about, even before content, is ads?
I do not dislike the idea of an mac application (wouldn't use it myself though), but I think this is a bit scary. --- "A fool flatters himself, a wise man flatters the fool."

I will be releaing an EVEHQ java clone in a few weeks on the Mac App Store. I am planning to release it for free for about 2 weeks. It is much faster, smaller, and better laid out than EVEHQ. Look for an another announcement in a few weeks.

Or content...
Don't get me wrong, I'd love the app, but I'd recommend not setting up a blog until you have some content, or announcing an app until you at least have an alpha.
