I have been keeping a casual eye on the activities of the controversial Hilen Tukoss, and one detail catches my personal interest. Here and there, but not in all cases, Hilen Tukoss is referred to as Tukoss-Hnolku.
For those with long memories, there was once another Caldari defector by the name of Ullia Hnolku. The man who escaped the State with a sample of the prototype form of Insorum, years before the 'vitoc cure' was perfected and acquired by the Elders.
I admit I have not made a detailed study of Caldari naming customs, but is there a family tie here?

As I understand things, "hnolku" is used as a new word for "traitor" or something.
Possibly some Minmatar might do a similar thing, like referring to a person as a "little Midular" or some such.
No family tie that I have ever heard. _________________________________________

That would seem to fit, as I think it is only State-loyalists who I have seen refer to Tukoss as 'Hnolku'.
It would be a sad case if true though, Hnolku was nothing but a humanitarian. He died in an effort to end the suffering of billions.

I think you'd need a Caldari to explain things, they'd have the cultural context. _________________________________________

Just so, and for the reason you mentioned. I think it's a little overdone, personally, and does no justice to the circumstances and decisions of either man, but then, I'm hardly a picture-perfect Caldari loyalist anymore.

Do not pay too much attention to the ethnics. They are savages. Ignorant and jealous beings.

Hnolku is indeed the word for traitor. I believe both Tukoss-hnolku and Tukoss-haan would fit, as I'm not totally sure his citizenship has been revoked.
Out of context of the Caldari language, I suppose it may seem strange. I assure you it flows much better when you're speaking the language in full, as part of a sentence.
At any rate, no, there is no family tie.

A long time ago, when I was still in the late stages of my Capsuleer training, I was inspired by the unfolding story of Ullia Hnolku in the news feeds. I looked beyond the story being put out by State media outlets with all of its emphasis on defection and theft, and saw a man choosing to stake his own life and forfeit his own career on something greater than turning a profit.
Once I gained my licence I struck out for the Republic to try and pick up where he left off, I doubt that I was alone in doing that. This was long before Heth and his Provists, or the war that saw Insorum become a reality. It saddens me to see that the much vaunted reform of the State has done nothing to change how we see the people we should call heroes.
One of the most selfless acts I ever saw, and the man's name has become synonymous with traitor? I've clearly been away from home a long time, but today I find that returning there has lost much of its appeal.

He was a traitor to the system wherein inventions typically belong to the corporation and not to the individual. Therefore, Ullia Hnolku was not a traitor to any grander theme than that of his own megacorporation's bottom line -- the welfare of the people he worked for and with -- which, knowing how Ishukone coasts from product to product, likely affected a lot of employees. Ishukone would have preferred to sell the product, even "at the right price," than to have let it slip from their hands.
I don't agree with the lexicon but for most of these people it seems to fit. It's unfortunate that the sabre-rattling elements of Caldari society picked up on it. I think Hnolku himself could have done worse.
Oh and Boma, your arrogance concerning "ethnic Caldari" has been noted.

As it should be Kyoko, assuming you understand my meaning and do not immediately resort to a defensive posture and a closed mind. If not, then, sad day for all. Perhaps it is ignorance, considering what has been on display lately.

I know what you believe. I disagree with it. I disagree with it even more strongly when you resort to racism for your own ends. My grandfather would never have agreed with such nonsense.
Continue down that path Boma, and you'll become no better than Heth.

Heth is a roach. And every one of us with a capsule interface is already worse.

I don't know, even compared to capsuleers, on a sheer body count (to say nothing of morals), he's pretty high up there.
