Being a pilot recently returning to EVE after a lengthy gatecamp fiasco I understand the frustration. I also understand why people gatecamp even if it is a pretty lowball camp that'll jump a Rifter solo vs 5+ BCs (yes I got hammered by 5 BC while flaying a Rifter) My main has sub 1mil SP and I've decided I'm tired of the fantasy MMO scene and that I WILL learn to play EVE effectively and brutally if only to smash gatecamping D-bags for that one group :)

That's EXACTLY what happens to me every time I even try to enter some lowsec systems for some PvP. Jumping trough a bunch of system just to end up being killed by 5-10 people camping a gate with BC and BS.. That's why I made this thread. Because as a new player, you CAN'T catch up with more experienced players. They will always have the advantage. So the only thing you can do is to play in highsec cause the game mechanics stops you as a new player to try PvP.. |

doesn't matter how old your char is, if your by yourself and a 10 man gang locks you down at a gate you will go down unless you manage to burn back somehow. so using this situation as an example of pvp being "dead for new players" doesn't really work imo.
its not so much time spent playing the game or number of skill points your character has that determines your success in pvp . in fact i know a few players that are less then a year old that i would prefer to pvp with over half of the 3+ year old players i know. the reason for this is that they play smart and have made an effort to learn pvp inside and out , they don't panic and the certainly don't view lack of skill points as a crippling factor.

I made an alt for faction warfare.
Great bunch of random people fleeting up and heading off to gates and stuff. You will die -a lot-.
Still, if small/medium group PVP is your thing and you don't want to be tied to a small corp, Faction Warfare is the way to go.
*took a fkton of time to fix the standings when I decided to use my FW alt as my money-making alt*
