+6% implants and some caldari navy bcus puts you over 1000 dps in a tengu. With that said there does seem to be a bug with bcus. You get the ROF bonus but not the dmg bonus.

Edited by: Nomad Vherokic on 19/07/2011 11:48:37 AFAIK, the skills not being applied bug is still around. I thought they fixed it, or was it projected for the next patch, the delayed one? As it is, I noticed something similar when I was putting together a Widow fit last night, same fit from 6 months ago now no longer fits (all relevant fitting skills at 5).
I can't pin down what ships it affects. The fix of relogging/undocking/whatever isn't consistent.
EDIT: ran this for a while, it's not optimal in terms of implants, just what I had at the time.

Putting more than 2B worth of mods on a ship that will go down after 2 salvoes from 5 suicide armageddons seems like a marvelous idea.
Also, heavy assault launchers (bad damage against npc interceptors) and non-sustainbable tank on a droneless ship, would be hasardous on a handfull of missions. One pull mistake on a silence the informant or world collide, and you're gone. ------------------------------------------

*hazardous *handful *non-sustainable
Who said anything about running missions in high-sec? I certainly didn't. As for interceptors, notice the Target Painter. And why would you need a perma-tank on a DPS ship? Answer: you don't.
In any case, I posted a fit in reply to a previous poster regarding a Tengu fit that does over 1000DPs, to merely illustrate the point that you can, and that it works. You can debate the applications of that all you like, maybe in a thread discussing the merits of such fits. |

You might want to consider price of modules/suicide gank factor etc and weither it's worth it or just use said isk to buy PLEX to extend your game time. Something to consider when you buy expensive toys to make isk.
But now onto the other stuff HAM Tengu's are not the most effective thing in terms of mission running HML are better due to better range which means less travel time, you always have something in range. And the 4th Caldari BCU doesn't give much benefit over a normal T2 BCU, normally a couple DPS so consider that when you buy it.

Range is not as much of a problem with a Properly fitted HAM Tengu than what people think. Range is between 44 and 65 km depending of the ammo you use.So most of the time travel time consist of a few second considering that you go at almost 700 km/s. Of course when the enemy is at over 100km its a bit longer but that does not happen that often.

Wild guess: you turned-on the option to consider reload time.
I think a HAM Tengu does about 988 DPS on paper, so maybe plausible if you are rounding.

with t2 rigs (HBTII+RFCPII)/4 CN BCU/5% implants you can get about 43 km with faction ammo (888 dps), 39 km (988 dps) with rage which is by far not enough in most missions. note that these are EFT numbers so it's a few km less in practice.
you can use range ammo (terror javelin - 700 dps at 65 km) but it does pathetic dps plus you have to consider reloading time. oh and it nerfs your velocity (you lose 26% of it) so using that while getting in range is kinda dumb. also 775 dps is what you get with faction HM at 120+ km.
ham tengu looks good on paper (with max missile skills) but fails miserably in practice. except for some specific complexes where you have to kill stuff spawning right next to your nose. the damage difference is just not big enough to compensate for getting in range time.

Speaking of DPS on a HAM Tengu - which do you think would help it apply more against frigates, a web or a painter? Which is more useful in a broader perspective? 0= - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 'So grab your guns.'

No idea. The web would have the potential the make the biggest increase in damage, I think, but it takes precious seconds for the webbed frig to slow down to it's new max velocity. And it's range is much shorter, while you could start applying damage to a painted frig as soon as it get into HAM range. ------------------------------------------
