Sometimes I find a lot of stuff for sale at a price that I find likeable, such as ammo. Often in these cases I want to buy the entire amount being sold. But the method I use for this is to type in a long string of 9's in the quantity bought field, which the game then corrects to the maximum available quantity (from that buy order) once I hit the Return key and the purchase happens.
Is there a more elegant way to do it?

Hi Salpad
An 'elegant' solution to your problem would be to open the purchase window as you usually do, but instead of typing a series of high value numbers, then simply right-click the quantity to the right, select "copy" from the dropdown menu, and paste the value into the input field.
Personally I'd stick to the '999999' solution though, as I find it to be much faster. "if it's stupid but it works it isn't stupid"

I miss being able to see the total sum of ISK I'm paying, in the 9999999 cases. It's only shown in a split second after I hit the Return key, meaning when I've already approved the purchase.
Another possibility is to set up a Buy Order in the system. But as far as I can see, that means I have to pay some extra fees, which eats into the profit margin.

Well, you CAN see the total sum of your deal on the transactions tab in your wallet, but only after the purchase, so I guess that is not your point... |

After typing the long string of numbers, simply click outside the input field to deselect it. This should automaticly adjust the value to the correct quantity. |

Ow! That hurt! I think CCP should disable the /trout emote, or at least make it use a thawed trout.
And don't worry, I stay far way from the Return key unless I know exactly what I'm doing. The worst thing that can happen in such a situation is that I spend all my ISK on something cheap which I know for a fact I can resell at a profit elsewhere (possibly after having done something to it, as in reprocess, refine or produce).
