The Ark'Jaalan recently sought to construct a set of ethical guide lines something that is doomed to ethical subjectivism.
Through the Ark'Jaalan we must pursue the objective true that transcends ethical subjectivism.
The object true is neither moral or immoral, it simply is.
Some recent events provide text book example of how hopes, fears and opinions (doxa) arise from ethical subjectivism to overwhelm the pursuit of universal true.
The Jovian Gorda Hoje wrote about how "WeÆre flooded by substitute truth".
The Amarr talk of the Great Deceiver whom strives to deny them enlightenment.
We Intaki seek the universal truth over an multitude of life times.
The Minmater seek the wisdom of their own Elders.
We must cast aside distractions and seek the absolute universal truth.

It is good to see that people seek the same ultimate goals, but may I ask what do you propose to exactly ? |

I read something on the topic recently, and I must confess I found little to disagree with. Here is a snipit of the archive:
Originally by: The True Knowladge
Life is a process of breaking down and using other matter, and if need be, other life. Therefore, life is aggression, and successful life is successful aggression. Life is the scum of matter, and people are the scum of life. There is nothing but matter, forces, space and time, which together make power. Nothing matters, except what matters to you. Might makes right, and power makes freedom. You are free to do whatever is in your power, and if you want to survive and thrive you had better do whatever is in your interests. If your interests conflict with those of others, let the others pit their power against yours, everyone for theirselves. If your interests coincide with those of others, let them work together with you, and against the rest. We are what we eat, and we eat everything.
All that you really value, and the goodness and truth and beauty of life, have their roots in this apparently barren soil.
This is the True Knowledge.

Cpt. Mossari,
why must we pursue this? I hope you are able to appreciate the exquisite paradox you constructed here: You're promoting a specific ethical or meta-ethical position, namely that of a-moralism or that of a-ethicism.
Not enough with the fact that it is self defeating in itself "You must not use 'must'!", it is also denying you any ability to set up practical norms, thus it is also self-defeating at the meta-level.
These is the prime example for the work of the Deciever we Amarr talk about.
Of course ethical subjectivism isn't much better (as it is self-defeating as well) but there's a simple solution to the problem that the Empire is embracing for millenia: ethical objectivism.
I hope you'll see the error of your ways.

"what do you propose to exactly?"
Humility in the face of the anthropic manifestation of the universe.
indomitability in the pursuit of understanding those fundamental universal principles.
The pursuit of universal truth.
"why must we pursue this?"
Emotions like love, hate, pity, anger are natural gifts that the universe bestows on the self aware sentience.
Ethical subjectivism stifles diversity and is therefore the antithesis of universal balance.
That cannot be allowed to limit the anthropic manifestation that the Universe allows. The Universe possesses a natural order, it continually promotes a macrocosm and gains substance and resilient from diversity which it naturally weaves into harmonic balance.
In recognising that made manifest by the Universe we allow the universe to blossom, to 'live' to 'breath'.
That is why I use the word 'must'.
That which give life to the Universe gives life to itself.

Edited by: Nola Doyle on 30/07/2011 16:42:02 The terms "Absolute" and "Truth" are dangerous terms to use in the realm of science, and in my eyes are best left to the zealot wordsmiths to conjure their next great fear. One could, through science, determine the temperature of a nearby star's core to be 13.6 million kelvins, and accept this as truth. But what happens when it ceases to be this way, as may be the case in billions of years? Absolute truth becomes variable and unpredictable, as is the rest of the universe. The value of the words themselves become brittle when utilized in such a manner. ~-~ Dr. Nola J. Doyle Co-CEO, NeuroGEN |
