Edited by: Eliana Bandokar on 27/07/2011 22:02:31 This is not strictly a developer discussion but this forum looked the most relevant, apologies if I missed another one.
Basically, before I reinvent the wheel, I wanted to see what the general consensus is regarding the best platform(s) for corp sites. Our corp is recently formed and I threw something together with WordPress because I'm naturally pessimistic and figured we just needed a brochure site, but now our members have gone mad for using it and adding their own content and blah blah blah.
I'm thinking Drupal, since that's what I usually use for community sites. Its user permissions and content types plus loads of other smaller things mean I know this will work and do almost everything I want it to do.
Before I do that, is there another CMS that's generally accepted as "the best" for this sort of thing? Or has anyone invented an EVE-specific CMS yet that they don't host themselves and charge millions of ISK for use of?
Examples of sites are welcome if they illustrate why a particular platform is "teh bestest", I never get bored of looking at websites.

I haven' tried it yet, but SMF (forum) + TinyPortal (expands SMF to a little CMS) + TEA (API verification for SMF, see somwhere down in this forum) looks like a promising and already available combination of tools. Throw in a KB and you're good to go, I think. There's also a bridge SMF <-> MediaWiki available so that forum registration can be linked to wiki access, if you need a wiki, too. -- EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager |

Have a look at EVEBB. Don't know if this satisfies your needs. Personally I haven't used it so I can't provide more intel.

I was actually just looking at eveBB, it looks really awesome for what it is but I'll need more of a CMS-style site than just a forum. Might have to download that and have a play around anyway though just cos it looks so cool :D
The SMF solution probably isn't fully featured enough either tbh, though I'll look into it just in case. I'm very picky and want to be able to add various crazy features that nobody but me will use, which is why I usually go Drupal. Just really wanted to check what other people are using.
Much appreciated, further suggestions also welcome since it'll be a while til I officially decide.

Hi Eliana,
If you like EveBB and still require a CMS then we have a Wordpress theme to match the default EveBB theme. We are using wordpress as the front end to our site and EveBB as the support forum. You can download the theme here.

Oh I hadn't seen that, nice.
I won't be going with it for this particular site because we've been running about a month and already outgrown WP in terms of feature requests, but it's at the top of my list for another project so in a couple of weeks you'll have another user. Awesome forum, cheers for all the hard work :)
