I truly imagine the person who thought that a spaceship mmo company making a vampire game and attempting to compete in the FPS console market was a good idea must be hiding under a rock atm.
If Carlsberg did Eve they would roll back the clock several years and rectify mis-spent development and lack luster expansions.
Dust and Vampires are both going to bomb and thanks to **** poor past decision making eve players will and are going to have to pay for this.

If carlsberg made eve it would be wow, just more mainstream if that is possible.

I disagree, then again i don't drink Carlsberg either - but we were sent to sea a long time ago without a paddle or a sail.

Because a game developer making more than one game is SUCH a terrible sin against nature...
And here I thought the EVE community was mature. I'm quite delusive, I know.

Edited by: Valentina Valentia on 28/07/2011 03:29:07 The idea of the WW aquistion (or as they say merger) is license rights, but just because you have them doesn't mean you have to actualize them and monitize them. Unless you buy them with debt in which then you have a loan to pay back and you are forced to try to get someone to give you money for them to pay that - meaning you have to launch a product, to pay for the original loan, the overhead, the mounting expenses of payroll, etc. then there is the interest on all that making it a forced issue.
CCP took a paying "cash-cow" product that was product that was paying, leveraged it and then bought the debt of WW - a paper company that really isn't profitable, now they are forced to adapt an obsolete format to Online, which will fail because if someone had made this work it would exist and WW would have been bought up long ago... someone buttered the bread and sold CCP [a non-US company] a load of US BS in the form of a defunct US RPG game that couldn't make money on it's own.
Call it a scam or a bail out... you the ultimate player/payer are the person who gets to pay for this and allow CCP to someday (perhaps) get out from under the fail expenditure of capital that was supposed to be used for EVE which is CCPs own product. So, ask this, why take a sure thing money making game with unlimited potential, and side line it for a new product that is questionable, untested and going to run you into debt long before you see dime one?
Greed... speculation... false economies... etc... it's a common practice in US and world business for decades, and it doesn't work. CCP would do well to figure out WHAT does produce a product that people will pay for - EVE, then invest it's time and resources into that, when they have no outstanding debt (and the world economy shores up some - give it a few years or never), then they can waste time and money on boondogles... but for now the smart money is "Stick to what you do and do well and you will survive and prosper, spread yourself all over and you are sure to fail"

12Y old - awesome, learn to spell, and so what are you going to do in WoD? sit around in a badly lit rav bar in virtual land and all emo one another in chat... and pretend to be potent beings in a LARP world because Ann Rice made some money selling this to a few people, and hollywood made a few bucks on trashy lame movies about vampires being some kind of BDSM freakshow?
I don't think so - I have been to CCP/WH atlanta, and I have see/talked with the poeple at several conventions for WW (who didn't even acknowledge CCP or EVE during these events) and they couldn'r produce a napkin at a picknic... the bulk of them are simply NOT producers, they are gamers that tried to make gaming pay them to play... so I guess they could be experts at scamming for Pay to Play economics... but make a marketable product for mass consumption even in the gaming market; sorry I don't see it...

Not that I care about WoD or vampires in general, but I'd like to rent that crystal ball of yours.

True, had they - you would have a working space ship game, and WoD and DUST would be on the shelf... or not existence at all.
The game IF it went to MTs would be free-2-play - but I am not thinking that would work at all for EVE, just the thought of bots of the 1000s accounts would be one.
You would have a dev group that had a single focus - deadlines, testing and QA the worked, and deployments that where polished, not beta.
but what do I know... 15+ years in roll-outs of working IT/tech, 25+ years in business, 43 years on the planet... military service, 2x degrees [when they meant something], 2x successful small businesses with no debt, a laundry list of consulting, education, living abroad... and yet,I would say I haven't a clue about most of the things people do... I just basically blink and am amazed at what silly things go on on the planet.
but I know what I know and I can tell the smell of roses from shyt no matter what someone tries to tell me.

The things that would make WoD excellent are things CCP hasn't ever done.
An actual narrative, and a fleshed out game world with a compelling atmosphere to name a couple.

I love all the haters of World of Darkness. They probably have never picked up a world of darkness book and bothered to read it. If White Wolf really pulls the strings on the entire project and makes the world just as dark as the books and as unforgiving as eve online. Holy crap we are going to have a cutthroat bloody mmo out there.
WoD will be rated mature.

Most people on here dont get that, which is understandable considering the name, they figure it is a WoW clone with vampires, I thought the same too until I looked at the 'features' the game will have.
As for DUST, well im not into shooting games, they seem so meh, im too much of a nintendo boy, raised by mario and link :D
I would probably quit EVE for WOD, as for DUST it isnt something that I can say I will get sadly .
