A while ago i set up a buy order for 2 rooks @ 80m but accidently hit 0 twice, this meant that 1 second later i was the prowd owner of 2 rooks that cost me 1.6bil!
I petitioned this by saying that it's rediculous and "Have you ever heard of someone going into a car dealership and demanding they pay 10 times the price on a car ? Stupid rule, It needs to default to buying the cheapest and paying the asking price"
The response was : "We do understand your point and it makes sense, but we sadly have to stick to our policies in this case. we apologize for the inconvenience and hope that you understand our position on this matter"
Great. . .
I am not trying to rage, and yes i made a noob mistake but surely this needs to be changed as it is this type of programming that will make people leave the game

I think game gives you warning if you use really high or low price. So if you ignored the warning (or have decided to hide it) then it really is your fault.

THIS
If your price is way higher or lower than the average you get a warning. You ignored this and that's your own fault, game mechanics are fine.

It did pay the asking price.
àoh, and there's a warning for this already, and there's nothing wrong with the programming ù pure user error. ùùù ôWe want to try this thing called micro-transactions, but we don't know what it is. Can anyone explainà aw screw it, let's just do it! What could go wrong?ö ù ÇÇP |

Yeah I know , Like i said I made a noob mistake and there was a warning box but you get a warning box everytime you set a buy order higher or lower the medium asking price. So when in 0.0 the average buy/sell price can be massivly out this means that you basically get a warning box on every buy order you place. I was really just trying to say that they could take the human error effect out of this situation.

heh, so there should be a regular warning box for when you pay a bit too much over, and a super warning box that you cant ignore if your dyslexia turned on and are trying to buy a hobgoblin for 2bil.

Though I would like to say "HTFU!!" I do believe there is some scope to being able to set the warning threshold on the box. Most things you buy in a lot of regions will pop up the box "OMG ITS 120% THE AVERAGE!!!" when that is the going rate. It would be better to be able to set this to, say, 1000% so only scammy things get warned... or 200% to remind you how lazy you're being for not travelling 3 jumps over Also? I just tricked you into reading my signature. |

Sucks to be you, i have bought a 200m merlin before.
This game is already too friendly in that regard though, CCP removed freeforms, added big green/red texts to transactions, and SPELLS OUT the number after the numerical value of any transaction. This game used to be harsh, now it is a fluffy lala land built with hyperdyslexics in mind.
HTFU.

There is a very easy way to deal with your problem (in the future). Have only as much ISK in the wallet of your main/market char you are willing to lose to fat fingers. Move the rest to an alt. -- IF YOU PLAY WITH SONY YOU PLAY WITH ******! |

If you wanted to buy the 2 cheapest available, why are you using a buy order?
A typo AND ignoring a warning message points to a PEBKAC type error in this case.

I wholeheartedly understand you, dear OP, but that's how it works. Hope you get over it... and besides ... sell them for 2 Billion.
Just takes time, but i'm pretty sure it'll work. :)

There is a warning but it's useless because it warns too much/for too little. 100% mistake is nothing in a 20mil item but 1bil item it may make angry. 1000% mistake is nothing if price is 3.33 isk but if the price is 20mil it will make you quit.
There should be personal setting that you can setup by absolute value. for example if the order is 25mil higher/lower show warning. some rich guy may wanna set this value to 250mil.

While we're at it, can we have a warning popup box for:
About to jump a gate with a gatecamp on the other side. About to engage on a gate without checking the other side. About to engage on a dock without seeing how many friends are in cyno range. About to post on the forums without thinking about topic from more than one POV.
Hell, let's just have a pop-up warning that says anything you click on in Eve might be dangerous. That should cover it.
(Edit - need a popup box for about to post and forgot a word in a sentence!) "Here's your sign..."

"Bad Game Mechanic"
It is not the game mechanic that is bad, let's face it.
