I have not been able to find the answer to this question anywhere. I am flying a raven battleship and having printers with my tank. I an able to fit a T2 tank with my skills currently. They are not perfect but I feel should be enough. My question is that every where I read you need to pulse the booster because you will not get it cap stable but how do you do this? I have not been able to find anything on when to start the booster or stop it. Should I let the shield drop then turn it on til the are back up and repeat? Or should I be trying to keep the cap at the magic 33% mark?
Any help on how to properly pulse a shield tank would be great.

I think that's your problem, you should be having fax machines instead.

Correct way to use it is to, um.. use it. Shield getting damage, pulse. Run out of cap? Fit a cap booster. Still out of cap? get a better booster, T2 is utter s.hit, get Pith B-type XL (or Caldari Navy), with 18 cap booster 800 charges should tank enough for any mission.

Pulsing just means to turn it on, then off again rather than leaving it on. Whether it's just occasionally to top your shields up again or nearly constantly on and only turning off to conserve cap when you get low, it's the same principle. The lower your cap goes, down to the 33% point, the faster you'll regen so the more often you can have it turned on. Lower than that, means your tank just broke and you can't keep up with the pulsing. That's time to align and go all out on killing the biggest source of incoming damage and/or any active scrams.

The simple was is to right click your shield booster and select "set auto repeat off".
This means that your module will only run a single cycle then turn off.
monitor your shield HP levels and only turn the booster on when you need it.

^^ This is pretty much it.
I prefer to have it auto-repeat and only hit it when the shield is down around 40-50% depending on incoming damage. More often than not I end up forgetting it and running out of cap, but by that time it doesn't really matter anymore as all the incoming damage has dropped right off.

I warp-in at 100 km, and immediately head away from the NPC. The only time I need to use my shield booster is when I can't warp-in at range, and have to deal with the first group getting to range.
At range of 105 km I turn-off all my tank and just nuke stuff with the afterburner going, as nothing can touch you. Angels can't be outrun, but any movement greatly reduces incoming damage.
Once half the room is clear, I start heading to the next gate, if there is one, so by the time I kill the last NPC I'm at the gate.
I carry 5 cap charges 800 in the module, and 15 more in my cargohold (3 reloads). The rest is cruise missiles. I'll run out of missiles long before I run out of cap charges, typically 3-6 missions depending on the missions.

Keep your cap at 33% as often as possible without wasting shieldboost. Gist C-Type X-large shield booster is great, fit one heavy NoS on top of that and you will never have any real trouble with cap.

You can also try running a Navy Boost Amp instead of a cap booster, it's another decent fit I have seen. It makes those pulses significantly burlier.
