As a new MR, I wanted to see how peoples ships were fitted to run L4. I use EveHQ as a general purpose skill training but strayed on to the shipfitters paft which takes "loadouts" from Battleclinic. I was impressed with the result, but the forum*****s say that BC is not good. Where do you go to see how to best fit out a ship and what is considered the best?

What ship you looking at?
What skills you got trained up also plays a part in choice.

Got Gallente BS to lvl5 atm so in the early stages wanting to know what fits are possible. Looking at this section, seems that a Mach is a good ship so would like to know options. EveHq can then tell me how long to get there but it relies on BC as I said before.

I think the main Gal mission running bs is Dominix drone boat.

You should have at least T2 drones.

So what I'm seeing here is a lack of alternatives which leads me to believe there are no other choices available. I will keep on using BC loadouts as a source of ship fittings then
Many thanks

Use this website (or any other one if you can find something you prefer) to see what damage types the rats are dealing, and set up your tank appropriately. Seeing as you have Gal BS 5, I'm assuming you armor tank. You can most likely fit 2 specific hardeners along with your rep. My old Domi was a dual rep setup, usually only needed 1 tho.
Also, don't be afraid to try your own set-up, unless you don't know much about mods and ship fitting. |

How about working them out for yourself? Use something like Pyfa or EFT. If you are looking for PVE fits then the following templates can be followed -
Active shield tanking (i.e. Maelstrom, Raven) - High-slots: Guns/Missile Launchers + Utility (salvager, tractor, nos etc...) Mid-slots: 2 rat specific hardeners, 1 invul field, Shield booster + utility (sensor booster, afterburner, cap booster, cap rechargers/batteries) Low-slots: damage mods/tracking mods for guns, BCS for missiles Rigs: damage rigs/optimal or falloff range rigs
Passive shield (i.e. Drake) - High: Launchers or non-cap using guns + utility Mid: Shield extenders, passive resist amps Low: Shield Power Relays, possible BCS/damage mod Rigs: 3x core defence purgers
Active Armour (i.e. Dominix, Abaddon) - High: some guns + utility Mid: cap rechargers/batteries + utility (drone nav, drone optimal, web, tracking computer, afterburner) Low: 1-2 Armour rep, 2-3 Armour resist mods (active or passive), if space damage mods and/or cap relays rigs: aux nano pump, cap rigs, and so on.
Most fittings follow these patterns. Players argue over about whether fitting short or long range guns are good, best ammo, more damage or more tank etc... Follow the ship bonuses and you will get a good start. --

Domi is the 'optimal' Gallente ship. Proper drone selection gives you rat specific damage.
I use a T2 sentry fit domi and it burns through most missions fairly quickly.

Fits can also depend on your playing style Domi is a great boat to run them with heavies or sentries and you have enought drone bay volume to carry numerous groups of drones.
If you like to get up close and personal think about Blaster fits for Megathron and Hyperion. and if you do have BC V trained start thinking about command ships and use an Astarte.

You can fit a monster tank to a Hyperion. I use one when taking other people through L4s, so i can aggro entire rooms and let them do the killing. Even tanked an L5 with it once. Thing is unstoppable, never had to warp out in it, but like someone already said the Domi has better DPS with drones if your skills are adequate.
