Edited by: Wol*** on 01/08/2011 22:24:55 Worthless... I've always been a PvP fan because I enjoy when your enemies are unpredictable and such. But this game should just be labeled as a Singe-Player game. Cause I've tried in over 4 months to PvP. I've been everywhere, and I've read everything I can about d-scan and such. But you just can't play EvE Online as a Player versus player game. It's either player vs asteroid or player vs brainless easy missions.. This game sucks for new players.
I've tried so hard not to loose my patience in this game, trying to come over my losses thinking "Well, I'm new I shouldn't get a kill very easily" but tonight after FOUR months of trying.. I realized that it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a kill. You need atleast a few Titans backing you up against you enemies. And you need atleast 80million Skill points...
Todays story: Jumping trough about 50 systems just to end up getting OWNED because my ship warps to a Mobile Warp Scrambler instead of a gate(Why really, bugged piece of **** game?).
Yesterdays story: Jumping trough 100+ System looking for ANY fight really. Ending up in a Large Warp Scramble Field getting shot down by 20 Drakes or so...
The Day Before That: Jumping trought 100+ Systems to find myself needing to do something in "Real Life", docks at a station to be safe. Undock 2 min later finding myself WTFPOWNED by a couple of hundres Battleships camping station..
I just gave up in this game, it's a rubbish game really. I've tried so hard, but you just CAN'T play versus other players unless you are on the 200 Titan and 2000 Battleship side.. My subscription runs out in 5 days and I'm really sad actually but I won't renew it, because I know that If I'm going to pvp in the game, I will have to spend a few years training skill to be accepted as a member in any corp.
I've actually tried so hard trying to find people to play with, but everyone basicly says to me: You haven't trained skills for 4 and a half year so we won't accept you..
I can use Full T2 modules(T2 Lasers and Laucnhers) and can use T2 Frigs and everything else up to battleship. Still, I can not play pvp cause I still need 32 Months more training time. I've given up, tonight was my last call.. And, I died without even being able to lock the enemies, how fair is that?
Actually, I want to play eve.. I want to. But I just can't motivate myself to pay for training skills in 32 Months to be able to join atleast some corp. And there is no such thing as anyone inviting a new player..
I just want to add; I'm usually not the kind of person who gives up like this. And I tried to look at this in all kinds of angles I could possibly come up with.. But all I can think of is that I should quit this game, cause no one wants a newbie, even tough I would love to learn and try my best to be better, no one wants me as a new player. It is and it isn't, that's how it is.. But still not?!

Edited by: DeceivingApperance on 01/08/2011 22:53:05 it does sound like you are playing alone in an MMO :) only the hardest of hard solo in EVE, and it usually doesnt pay off unless you have 100% understanding of game and alot of intel things like where the carebears live matter warping 100+ systems is a waste of time, when you could be going to the station system of a 0.0 pve alliance and just pick them off one by one (sorry, bears)
another thing is, losing a ship at a station is usually avoidable :) after undocking you have a 30 second grace timer UNLESS you activate mods, move ship or start warp the only exception is STOPPING your ship :) this means that if you undock and stop your ship you can wait your 30 second grace timer and just redock if someone is out to get you a huge battleship gang always moves very fast around, and dont care about single targets playing "station games" but, regardless of what people call it, its a necessity to live in dangerous space
there are other tricks too, such as not dieing to gatecamps
above all, get some friends
edit: i wonder if The Jagged Alliance still exists... last i heard they collapsed and all we did was cloak in their systems and occasionally kill one or two... happy spacing :)

Ok I checked battleclinic and it does indeed look like you have been at least trying. Your rifter fit is fine, but remember to use meta modules. Meta 3s rarely cost much and give a nice boost to performance as do rigs, which are also inexpensive.
The two obvious answers is to join red vs blue. I had a great time with them flying my rifter with less than 1m skillpoints. Join eve uni. They blob like hell during wars, but do alot of small gang roams during peace time. Either way you need friends.

Mobile Warp Disruptors are designed to pull ships out of warp into the bubble. They are basically EVE's equivalent to Interdictors from Star Wars.
Quote: Yesterdays story: Jumping trough 100+ System looking for ANY fight really. Ending up in a Large Warp Scramble Field getting shot down by 20 Drakes or so...
Use D-scan to check where you're warping to before you get there. If local has lots of people in it, be prepared for a gate camp.
Quote: The Day Before That: Jumping trought 100+ Systems to find myself needing to do something in "Real Life", docks at a station to be safe. Undock 2 min later finding myself WTFPOWNED by a couple of hundres Battleships camping station.
Check local before you undock. Ctrl+Space will stop your ship on the undock route, so you should be able to redock before they target and shoot.
Quote: I will have to spend a few years training skill to be accepted as a member in any corp.
And yet I have friends flying around in gangs getting into fights in low sec all the time. What makes you think you need to have more than 20M SP or be able to fly a titan in order to PvP?
Contact me ingame, I'll put you in touch with some friends who get PvP action when they want it.

The best way to find a fight is to just hang around in reasonably active areas in sight, rather than just roaming. Like 100km off a station in a populated system, eventually you'll get spotted and usually someone will go grab something to combat you. Unfortunately, it can often take a long time to get anything resembling a fair fight, and there are plenty of dumb cowards in eve who on seeing your tech 1 Frigate will undock a SPR Drake and just hug the station knowing full well you can't do anything to them, and they can't do anything to you.
Getting blobbed and dying a lot is part and parcel of the solo PvP way off life, however, nothing beats that adrenalin rush of killing 3 guys in interceptors and escaping with your ship. Reshipping and getting back into the action is one of the annoying massive timesinks when it comes to eve combat, so I advise hauling some ships and fittings to a close by station with a medical service and installing your clone there. It already sucks getting blueballed by Falcon/SPR drake ***gots and not finding a fight for an hour, let alone having to spend another half hour reshipping and getting back in business.
Its hardwork but very rewarding, I wish you luck in your future endeavours, and if you give up I honestly don't blame you, the only thing that keeps me hooked and coming back is that one epic fight you find in awhile that just gets you totally pumped when you take out 7 ships while massively out-manned and escape alive. ---

If you are looking for "any" fight you don't need to do it in null.

If you didn't notice 100+ battleships in system you are doing it horribly wrong ...
In the unlikely event you aren't trolling, do try harder to join a pvp corp. That they all require years or training is just bull. Or FW. Or Red vs Blue.
As a troll I'd give it 1/10 (tl;dr all).

It sounds like you haven't tried to wardec a carbear corporation. Try giving that a run. You'll find lots of 1v1 opportunity.
If you're looking for other more sportsmanlike opportunities, you could try joining a militia, or the infamous "red" or "blue" of "red vs blue."
Also I would encourage you to join a channel called "Mentors!" (with the exclamation point.) There are a lot of PvPers who hang out there and can give you advice on where to go to find the type of PvP you are after.
Regardless if you stay with EvE or if you go, I wish you the best of luck.

It is very easy for targets to avoid PvP which becomes a problem if you participating in non-consensual PvP. You only have contact at select points (asteroid fields, gates, docks, etc.) and all they need to do is stay aligned to something in order to escape. Scrams/webs/bubbles/etc help and offer a few kills here and there but it definitely is few and far between.
I'm hoping 0.0 pvp is better. Once I get my security status back up that is.

Feel free to contact suddenly ninjas if you want some high sec PvP.
www.y0ink.us is what you are after.
A few things I'd like to say:
1. Drag bubbles are a thing. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle. 2. checking local and D-scan is your friend.
Your current experiences have basically taught you lowsec and 0.0 survival 101. Once you run into a smartbombing gang on a gate, you'll have the whole set. Why give up just when you've finished the tutorial, as it were?
If you have what it takes to take a loss and become better for it, drop by and give us a yell. Otherwise, have a try here.
Also, any corp that has a minimum SP requirement is most assuradly eating a large bag of ****s, don't worry about it. Not accepting trial accounts is a thing, since many of them never continue and you end up with dead weight in your corp, but if you have an active account, find yourself something better.

First of, I wish to apoligize for my rage post last night, just got pretty upset of how the PvP in this game seems to work. And just so you know, this is not the character I usually play on, it's an alt of mine.
I saw alot of you people linked me to "Training" corps and such. I don't know if I should join one, because I already know alot of the basics because I've read ALOT of guides on the internet. And I got a little question about D-scan, how am I supposed to see if anyone camps a gate if the gate is more than 14 AU away? I know how to pinpoint people within 14 Au with the d-scan.
I really want to see some PvP action but right now, I can't because I just die. I know alot of the basics and I know how to use google and eve forums to find answers to variuous questions. I just want to find a "real" corp wich do pvp and so and accepts a fairly new player.. But that do not exist I guess. It is and it isn't, that's how it is.. But still not?!

Training corps tend to give you free stuff, which is useful. Getting into PvP requires losing ships.
Addendum: Suddenly ninjas doesn't hand out free stuff.
The trick to dodging drag bubbles is to bounce yourself off planets. Drag bubbles work vary precicely, you have to land exactly in the middle of them for them to get you. Hence, they are usually set up in a direct line between stargates. Hence, if you warp to a different planet in the solar system first, then to the gate, you'll dodge drag bubbles.
To D-scan gatecamps, if you can, do the same, warp to a planet within 14AU and scan away. If that's not possible (stargates are not always near planets) you just have to wing it. You can either warp 100km away, which lets you see the gate but also tells campers you are there, or you can warp directly to the gate, which gets you the element of surprise, but risks both gate bubbles and disco battleships.

Here's one example of clear arrogance. You think you know what you're doing, but actually don't. There are more in your OP.
Every example you mentioned involves you dying due to not understanding basic mechanics. You then claim you know it all. You then claim, as a basis of both, PVP in this game is terrible.
I have alts with less than 3mil SP on who I PVP with and generally do pretty well from.
You're doing it wrong.

To add to what was said already: The drag bubbles generally only work from one specific direction. Often you will want to make a couple of mid safe book marks to make sure you can come in to a bubbled gate ( or one too far away to dscan ) at an angle no one would expect.
EDIT - You have to be IDLE for the creep to work, else you can find yourself warping to the unknown gate when your simply trying to bleed cap off.
In addition, for those gates too far away get to your mid safe you made, then sit still with your MWD running to bleed out your cap. You can initiate warp to the gate and immediately hit CTRL + SPACE to stop your ship again. This is to bleed out your cap. When you get a message about not being able to warp all the way to the desitnation because your cap is too low, you can take the warp and hopefully end up within DSCAN range of the gate to eyeball it. If you land too far out... just rinse and repeat. Often the guys camping the bubble will uncloak as soon as your in DSCAN range to try and catch you when you land in the bubble, but you will actually be settleling into your Obversation spot and can get ship types etc from the camp if it exists.

Have a look at this here
http://dl.eve-files.com/media/0903/TheCCPTest_divx_mp3.avi
Download an watch. It is possible for two two day old characters to kill much older characters. You just have to have a creative approach. Now, I know this video is a tad old but it still works that way.
And btw, you can't possibly have read everything that is there to read about pvp or you would have recognised a thing called drag-bubble (mobile warpdisrupter pulling you away from the gate/celestial you warped to). I'm not saying you should know about all this but you might consider the possibility that you still have to learn a LOT before you can really understand the possibilities you have.
My advice, join a pvp corp and get some training and advice. Solo pvp may be one of the most difficult things in eve.
Regards, Lax

Recommended Steps
1- Disengage emotional response 2- Reread Lady Go Diveher's reply 3- ??? 4 - Profit
You don't know half as much as you think you do - could be one reason why you have had trouble finding a corp. Become humble, seek out places to learn, and results will come a lot faster. Making this post is a great start as long as you don't rage at the replies that can help.
If you continue to struggle finding a corp take the 'Basics' Agony course - it's not about solo pvp but you'll learn a lot of the unknown unknowns. Ingame mail channel is 'agony pvp uni' for infos. Try doing Eve a little different for 2 months and see where it takes you, there's plenty of help offered in this thread already.

A lot of new players to this game want to immediately jump into solo pvp. They completely ignore that:
1. They have very few SP and their opponents often have far more
2. Their opponents may not be alone. Just because they are alone in system doesnt mean they dont have 100 friends next door.
3. The opponents ship type/weaponry - attacking every ship you find is going to lead to very bad results
4. Null Sec vs low sec - in low sec the gate guns/station guns may be on the other side shooting at you - in 0.0 you have bubbles and jump bridges to deal with as well as intel channels where folks are reporting your moves every inch of the way and some gang will be forming up to intecept and blob you at some point on the trip.
When you are new to this game pvp with a gang is preferable. That is not to say that you cannot solo anything. You certainly can. The comment about war decs is correct. You can find solo opportunities that way. But war decs arent always good. Sometimes the other dudes just wont play or will find ways to just avoid you or not log in.
Training corps and FW and rvb and things of that sort are the way to go. You can also join one of the many hundreds of high sec griefing corps if you wanna try the war dec angle. They will probably war dec several corps a week and you will get some targets to hunt solo if thats your preference.

Sverige, this is the newbie help forum. You may not want to try a goonswarm scam in here. You may get in trouble, and I would hate to see that.
To the OP: Google "goonswarm eve recruitment scam" for more details.
Quite honestly I think that what goonswarm does is hilarious, but I also feel that it does not belong in the newbie help forum.

1- Not everything will be handed to you in a gold plate 2- People invite other people when they know them, if you solo, no one will know you, unless you kill them. 3- Apply, there are now tools for new players so that even the most WoWTard can have an easier time finding a corp (You know, like the corp search tab) 4- EvE is a team game, and solo players traveling around in 0.0 (You for instance) are like snacks. 5- Its IMPOSSIBLE to get a kill if you are all time time spending an effort to run into hostile gangs. 6- If you have to go 100 jumps to get things done, you are doing something wrong. 7- if you travel from gate to gate while solo and in low or 0.0 long enough, you are basically looking to get your self killed. 8- Actually, even though you want to play a game that you havent even got the basic senses of, it going to be frustrating to suck at it. 9- From what i can tell, you are being a cry baby and have crappy social skills to make friends and play as a team. 10- And for the last ... THERE IS PLENTY OF CORPS THAT ARE NEW PLAYER FRIENDLY, NOT TO MENTION PLENTY THAT ARE PVP AND LOOKING TO MAKE GANGS AS A TEAM. sry for all caps, but this all could have been avoided if you just ****en bothered to learn a thing or two about your bad experience. But you kept repeating the same mistakes and ended up blaming the game.
