No tips or secrets there. Read, travel, watch, listen. Soon you understand the market.

There are no trading secrets.
Go through the market mod by mod and jot down items that have an acceptable margin between the buy price and sell price. Take into account how much of the item is traded in a day. Then put in your buy orders and keep refreshing them.
If you do it in Jita you will need to pay more attention than if you were to set up shop in one of the other trade hubs.
or
Put in buy orders for mission loot in mission hubs and haul it to a trade hub and sell.
or
Stock mission hubs with items purchased from trade hubs
etc....
That is really all there is to it.
A few days ago, to kill some boredom, I started one of my toons with a mil and did what I laid out in the beginning. He currently has 30 mil which isn't to shabby considering I haven't put much time into it.
Just give it a go.

Buy low sell high...
On a more serious note: understand What you're selling, Where you're selling it and When you're selling it. In short, remember the 3W --

While hauling stuff from Jita to other market hubs may be profitable, there usually are better locations to sell the stuff to get even greater profit.
Are you familiar with the market mechanics? I mean the mechanics with the buy orders, sell orders and margin trading?

you have a good start. Don't Spend more than you can afford, for instance if you only have 200mil in your wallet don't use all of it.
Check the markets a couple times of day, you start to notice trends about what times and quantities to buy and sell, for instance the market seems to slow down heading into nighttime for the US so if you watch close the lower priced sell orders get sold and if you place your item for sale at the right time depending on the time of day you will make more or less.
Patience. will make you more isk.
Diversify, don't put all your eggs in one basket. put in some far fetched buy orders for things like mission items such as ammo, a 1.00 isk order for 100k of some medium ammo may not seem like much but when you can sell it for 20 isk you are making good profit and if you diversify your wallet will always be blinking.
Work on your trade skills, if you really get into trading you wont have time to move stuff around so work on your procurement, and all other trade skills especially broker relations and accounting as they will make your margins better.
don't play market pvp you will lose, never spend a penny more than the other guy. I know that may be a hard thing especially if you are in jita but all the .01 isk game does is kill your margin.
Also take a long look at the other buy orders for the item you want, don't just look at the highest buy order and match it, look at the range of the other buys orders as well. for instance if you want to buy something and there are 2 buys orders, one for 20 isk with a range of 3 jumps and one for 1 isk with a range of region, you don't need to match the 20 isk order just have to beat his range so set your buy order at 2 isk for a range of 20 jumps or region or whatever your skills allow.
Just think outside the box. there really are no rules to the market and with patience and creativity you will be very successful. just experiment till you find what works well for you.

i've just recently been elected to work on trades for my corp, so i understand :P i had a small random bit to throw in with what everyone is saying. if you have an android phone there's a free app called aura. it's pretty sweet, and does not require your full api key, you can check your skill que and can also check where the highest buy and lowest sell orders are. it only shows so many orders, but i've been using it as a quick referrence and it seems to be pretty helpful |

Such a good advices and good people. That's abc of trading.
But to be able to profit 1B/day from trade, you chew all that as fast as you can and start thinking out of the box.
Whole ocean of fun out there awaits your talent, if you're able to drink that drop of water.
