Edited by: K1RTH G3RS3N on 04/08/2011 08:54:57 Hey C&P was bit bored in Jita today and thought whats easier than making money scamming? Scamming scammers. So next time someone offers to double your isk, give a little bit then a little bit more then offer to give them more later. Anyone else made isk off these guys? If so, how much? I made 70mil, not much I know but I'm not here to buff my ego, thought I might share for some lols. Pic and Convo log:
Convo log removed, not nearly enough room, fail.

I can confirm that this is a good way of making small sums of money. I've made (losses subtracted of course) about 30-40 million isk from isk scammers. It's not a lot of money, granted, but the fun is in the psychological sparring!
Remember, it's a game of brinkmanship. You want them to believe that you're willing to go much higher than you really are. Start with the 'feelers' of course, small sums designed to make them think you're testing them; don't jump too high too quickly or they may think that that's your final transfer. But don't test their patience too hard: 5 small sums going up in 100,000 isk increments is likely to make them pocket the first substantial sum you send them.
Quick tip: the scammer is more likely to think he's reeling in a big fish if you seem stupid. Alter your bio to match the more imbecilic players of Eve: Tough-guy posturing, bad spelling & grammar, vapid chat quotes - that kind of thing. Moronic comments in local also help. They might not check your bio, but if I were trying to scam you, I probably would. Also, industrialists that have been playing for a year usually have more ready isk then a newbie in a npc corp. Keep that in mind. But, if your character is too old, they might suspect that you're wise to their scams and are in fact trying to scam them.
Oh, and I wouldn't go above 5-10 million isk. I'm sure the isk scammers are getting more skittish - probably because so many of them are getting scammed themselves, heh.
Oh, and lastly, don't scam scammers in the same system with the same character. That should be quite obvious though, surely?

Confirming this is a legit way to scam a scammer. I will even check my wallet when I log back in to check for players donations, and send back double the amount.
Please scam me. Send small values of isk to me, and I will send back the double up to 10 mil donations. <3 |

Another good way to make money of these scammers is to convo them, and pose yourself as a clueless, gullible noob with lots of money.
You can use such lines as:
"Shame you're leaving eve :("
"Wow! How did you get so much money?"
"I have some money I can send you"
"So how does this work exactly?"
You should mention that your industrial alt has most of your money (For example, 200-300mil), and your main only has a small amount in comparison. Also, to reinforce your appearance of a clueless, gullible idiot, ask things like:
"So, if I send you all the money on my main (about 200mil), I'll get 2 bil back? :D"
Then, say you will send all the money on your current character first, before you send the money from your alt.
"Ok, I'm sending you 10 mil from this char, I'll go onto my alt and transfer all the rest of the isk once I receive the isk back"
If the scammer is reluctant to send you any isk back before you send him the rest of your imaginary isk on your imaginary alt, use an excuse such as:
"I know I'm being untrusting, But I'd really appreciate it if you sent the isk back first- That way I know that you're not a scammer and that I'm going to lose all my money lol"
Most of the time, the scammer will send you 10x back in the hope that you send them the massive amount of isk you claim to have. _____________________________________________

^ nice lines.
also, if you need to buy yourself some time to log on alts or make your game plan you can use "brb bio, been drinking so much lol sp smashed :P" that way they think oh sweet this guy is going to be even easier to con.

Nice. I have to try this. Usually I just announce in local that if you convo so-and-so scammer, he will just give you the isk without requiring the initial deposit. I've gotten some pretty hilarious angry convos from scammers who were inundated with convos from noobs looking for free isk.
