I started playing EVE about two weeks ago and am loving it, but have a concern. I like running missions and am trying to unlock some more level 2 agents. My character is Gallente but I am flying Caldari ships and may eventually train up Minmatar too for some PvP action. I don't like the idea of any of the main factions hating me and as a result being banned from large chunks of space.
Is it possible to run only missions that have you hunt pirates? I know I could decline any that involve a main faction but so far that seems like a lot, at least a 50-50 split between pirate and faction. Are there certain corps who will give mostly anti-pirate missions or am I sol?

The pool of missions vary from agent to agent ù some will shower you in anti-faction missions, some will give you a mix, and some will give you next to none. No-one has really compiled any stats or data on this so unfortunately, you'll have to go by trial and error.
You could also try to find a decent-sized cluster of agents and simply skip over to a new one if you have get two "bad" missions in too close succession. You also want to avoid doing storyline missions, since these will automatically give you negative faction standings, no matter what the mission itself actually entails.
That said, I'm a bit curious about the "unlocking some more L2 agents" bità are you following some old(er) guide for this? Because these days, you unlock all agents of a particular level in one big chunk. The standings requirements used to depend on both level and quality, but quality was recently removed. Or do you simply mean that you're trying to grind standings with multiple corps at once? ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡ you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki

Well thats actually another thing I'm curious about. I haven't done very much mission running and it's been across 6 different corps. I only have appropriate standing for l2missions with one corp. Do people usually work for with only one corps agents? That made sense to me since you'd be consolidating all your LP, but I found it difficult to choose one and stick with it.

Each corp has its own LP store, so the items available will vary from corp to corp. Trying out different ones will let you check (in game, you can look at some databases out of game to find out who offers what) what they offer and then decide who to run for in the long run.
Most people seem to run for just one or perhaps a handful of corporations when they do missions. One advantage to having a high faction standing is it enables good agents for all member corporations. Personally I have over 9.0 standing with the Amarr Empire, which means I can use any mission agent for any corporation that belongs to the Amarr Empire. Right now there are three I run missions for, but that's because my chosen mission system has three level 4 agents in it, all in different corporations. I usually stick with just one, but if I decline one and get another bogus mission within four hours I move to another so I don't take a standing loss.
I also seem to recall that level 2 missions gave me a metric assload of anti-Gallente and anti-Minmatar missions, while they dropped off at level 3 and level 4 I only see two of them: Enemies Abound and An Advantageous Catastrophe. I decline both of those. ______________________________________________________ PVP is a question that has no one right answer but a lot of wrong ones. - Aelana Anais

I dont think you can avoid being offered missions against the opposite faction.
As well as avoiding missions against a faction, read Standing Repair Plan by DMC, this can also be used to increase positive standing as well as repair of negative!
Now all level 2 agents can be accessed with a corp. or faction standing of 1.0 level 3 needs 3.0 level 4 needs 5.0
Also training 'Social Skills', social, connections, negotiation, can improve your standing and standing gains, and diplomacy can decrease your negative standings.

First off, it takes a very very long time to really ruin your standings and then you can train diplomacy. If you decline any mission where you directly kill the opposing faction (i.e. do not fight the Gallente-/Amarr-/Caldari-Navy or Republic Fleet) it will take even very much longer to ruin your standings. Then there is always Sisters of Eve Corp, they raise standing with all empire factions, so you can run missions for them and either fix broken standing or just get them up (they have a good lvl 4 Security Agent 6 or 8 Jumps from Jita and the LP give decent rewards as well (sisters probe launchers for example)).
I wouldn't worry too much though, unless you have really started the hardcoregrind for a long time, and even then standing below -5.0 (where they start shooting you) is fixed with very little training in diplomacy.

No they don't. Only with Gallente (primary) and Minmatar for storylines. --

Easiest way to avoid standings loss is to just run for multiple agents and not stick with just one. When they screw you with faction missions, change agents for a while.
Also remember, important storylines affect faction standings also. If you want to run those however, get an agent on both faction sides. I can now run lvl 4s for caldari and gallente, after initially screwing myself and then having to do a lot of grinding to repair my gallente standing.
Hope this helps some.

i believe you are looking for this tabel :
http://www.evegeek.com/mission.php
since i suppose you`re looking for combat missions , surveillance , security , internal security and command division agents will give you mostly combat missions .
this site also helps a lot in finding a suitable agent for you , and it tells you the standings required to have access to them :

holy outdated info batman.
We now have 3 divisions only. combat, courier or mining. So all that info is totally useless.

Edited by: laysha on 08/08/2011 03:33:08 Don't worry to much about killing your standing with a certain faction it's easy enough to fix and could be done in as little as a few hours if you have diplomacy trained to 5. I did faction warfare on 2 characters and butchered their standing to the opposing faction. i was -9.6 iirc on one of them before skills, think that was about -5.3 with diplomacy 5. Got that back up to -4.8 effective in 1 afternoon and was free to move anywhere in empire again.
it takes a long time to destroy your standing so badly that diplomacy 5 isn't enough and even if you manage to do it it's a really quick fix if you have it trained to 5
