Edited by: Cleuseau Remos on 08/08/2011 17:41:40 So I'm looking at doing some hauling of my own since my freighter pilot is mia.
I've heard you can carry a billion isk before getting kamakazi ganked in a freighter. Sounds..... about right to me.
Whats the cutoff for a Bestower with a 12k tank?
This is all in high sec of course. .7 or above.
And please dont tell me to ask in the PvP forum, or I will hear "can't gank a hauler with over 10k ehp. What time(s) are you on and what tradehubs do you prefer?"
TIA

Edited by: Lyris Nairn on 08/08/2011 17:46:13 I wouldn't carry any more than 100m.
e: THB it's a personal call. A couple of Thoraxes, costing about 10m total, could kill that. In theory a 30m cargo would be "worth it" for them to fight; but, I personally wouldn't think they'd go through the effort for so little.

I tend to be quite cautious and set a limit of 50m for a t1 industrial.
Also to be considered is the time you play and where you are hauling. hauling at peak time through one of the high sec pipes is much riskier than at 3am in the ass end of the galaxy

If you are travelling through 0.5 with the risk of scans I wouldn't go above 100m
Undocking from a busy 0.8-1.0 is a similar story, 1 alpha BS could end it.
I got ganked for about 250m by an alpha BS in 0.9 undock and learnt my lesson. I now haul most stuff in inties / dual 1600 cruiser or BC unless I have to.
On occasion I will move 0.5-1bn in a T1 hauler, but I will take the proper precautions to make sure its not much of a risk.
I'll move 100m through low sec in a T1 hauler, its not a simple calculation really, sure its easy to work out the minimum cost to gank you, but there are many other factors.

Personally I am over cautious and I typically don't haul stuff myself. But when I do I make sure it's unprofitable to gank me. My general setup if I had to haul something valuable and I needed it NOW, I would setup my NH with more EHP, which off memory was around 125k EHP and used that. It would either be unprofitable to gank me except on a few occasions, or by the time they gather enough resources and people to do such an attack I am long gone and cargo was delivered.
I be honest, I think 50mil would still have a chance to remain profitable for suiciding a bestower. Anything that is profitable is a target in my opinion. But as someone else mentioned, contracts can still be quite helpful if you have something you consider too valuable to transport in a fragile hauler. |

Personally, I started feeling a bit uneasy when carrying more than 500m in one of those, but more than often risked it anyway. If you're flying attentive, warp to 0 to the gates, and have an insta undock bookmark for any possible trade hubs then you should be fine... or have made enough money by the time you really get ganked
