I finished putting together a 27 minute video in Vegas 9, very high resolution (1920x1360), with 33 video clips shown at mostly between 2x and 4x realtime. Unfortunately, when I go to render the video, it fails horribly.
I have had 2 different problems: Either Vegas will almost totally finish the video in a relatively timely fashion, then run out of memory (I'm using 64 bit, and it took up over 15GB of RAM out of 16), or it will render OK until it reaches a particular video segment 36 minutes into the rendering process and it will stop rendering in multicore mode and drop from 5 frames per second to less than 0.8 frames per second, making the actual remaining time to render somewhere in the order of 10 hours minimum.
So far I have reduced the Dynamic RAM Preview option to 64MB, and changed the maximum number of rendering threads from 16 (wtf?) to 6 to match my processor's architecture.
I am outputting from H.264 source files (CRF 14, rendered by VirtualDub and x264vfw) to Lagarith lossless raw.
System: Phenom II 6 core, 3.7GHz; 16GB of DDR3 at 1600 Source files are on a different physical drive than the rendering output.
Any helpful suggestions would be much appreciated, I've been trying to get this dang thing to work for hours!

I seem to have found the issue. Debut video to be released in a few days.

Yeah, I liked the vid. The solo scenes were probably the best parts, but I liked the way you cut it close while flying the cynabal.
That logistics turkey shoot was awesome, and I think I know how you managed to get em all aggressed. Overall was A nice video, Would watch again ;P. Would suggest trying to get more solo pvp scenes in future videos.

A couple okay fights, solid editing job (liked the damage-display thing a bunch ) but really mate, low-risk, high-efficiency minded pvp does not make a good video. Not trying to be mean, just it's no fun watching a bhaalgorn with logi support, or sniper ships, or a ganking lolfit navy raven. as mentioned cynabal was the best part, but please stop using EC-300s (I know you didn't use them in some fights) and try not to use the orbit button so much, a little manual flying goes a long way, was painful watching you slip into web range from time to time.
I can tell you're a good pvper, just you need to switch the style up if you want to make enjoyable videos.

Every song is credited on the bottom left edge when it comes on. That one in particular is "Come Fly Away" by Benny Benassi.

Yeah, the size is pretty big, but I wasn't about to wait another hour and a half that early in the morning to redo it again. Imma go recode a smaller one right now, probably shoot for about 850MB and see how that looks.

Anyone with any sort of investigative head can figure out how we got 'em aggressed TBH :) I was gonna censor it, but at this point anyone with show-info and the KB engagement could figure it out.
I wish I had more solo footage, I really do. I haven't exactly had infinite time, though, and lately hisec wars have drawn me to small hunting gangs like a bear to an inviting waterfall.
The two months that came before this video consisted almost entirely of solo and solo+logi, anywhere from 1v1 to 1v8, fighting The Hatchery, Angry Bipeds, and any sucker who cared enough about their jet can.
I wish I'd recorded it all, but...
EVE never fades. It will happen again.

Maybe not, but it makes a good player. I gather that there a lot of people out there who seek to emulate Prons; this is a pretty decent selection of what we do, and I can't really apologize for that.
Originally by: Kovorix please stop using EC-300s
I don't like them either, but to be straightforward about this... good luck killing a Drake in a Cynabal without them.
Hell, they didn't even work in the other fight I used them.
Originally by: Kovorix try not to use the orbit button so much, a little manual flying goes a long way, was painful watching you slip into web range from time to time.
I, too, find that a little painful. "A little manual flying" is a solid shot below the belt, though; there's a lot of manual flying in there. TBH right now that's pretty much the biggest thing I need to work on.

I liked the editing and the flow of it all, there has obviously been put a lot of work into it.
But the content wasn't really my cup of tea. Even though the solo cyna stuff was probably the best part of it, it's still not very exciting to see 1on1s vs Bcs in a nanoship ____________________ Latest video: ISHTAR |

Uh no, but a Bhaalgorn fit or being used in an interesting way, or maybe being pushed to the brink while fighting outnumbered would be. Also isk efficiency tends to be inversely related to pilot skill. In fact, isk efficiency obsession is my absolute most hated aspect of eve and it's really the thing that ruins the game imo. You don't seem to be getting this

There was a fantastically messed up fight in KBP where I pointed an obelisk, then the Se7eranc3 guys I was supposedly working with decloaked and webbed me and started shooting the freighter, and ewoks was shooting me and -7-, and eventually the freighter did die but I learned that -7- has the worst comms in the world.
Also somehow my MWD had turned off its auto-repeat, which almost got me killed. It was a spectacular clusterf+++, but the half fraps was messed up and I ended up not including it, since the best parts were gone.
Anyway, I will strive to get more sweet ass-fights for the next video. I really don't want to screw around making videos for a while now, not after spending 12h putting this one together and then having to go through the Death Gauntlet just to get it to render all the way.

My data cap is already stretched thin so I won't be able to DL this just yet I think.
However this does irk me, a lot:

Isk efficiency has nothing at all to do with pilot skill, as Kovorix pointed out, the people with the highest efficiencies are often terrible at the game, they just engage in completely risk free pvp. People are not asking you to change your playstyle, if that's what you enjoy then that's fair enough, but saying things like 'low risk, high efficiency pvp makes for a good player', just annoys the **** out of me, because for those of us who actually enjoy the risk in taking on hard fights, that exact mindset is what makes the game so hard for us. People are afraid to engage because they might lose some isk efficiency or might have to actually take a risk.
Also as far as the bhaalgorn comment goes, you should look up a video called 'daredevil', where the guy used a slaved bhaalgorn to fight gangs solo without logi or links. He got some pretty awesome fights in it.
All that said I'll prolly still dl this when my cap resets, just to see what's up. -

We seem to have a misunderstanding of sorts.
Having good ISK efficiency is not a bad thing. Being an efficient PVPer does not make you bad. Having a terrible isk efficiency means you are almost certainly bad.
Whoring onto a lot of kills on some station, on the other hand, doesn't seem efficient to me. Whoring onto suicide gankers, either. Kills are what they are, and if those ships were dying anyway there's not much reason for you to be there, and you aren't making much an account of yourself with your ****ty redundancy. Really, setting out with a high ISK efficiency as your end goal in mind, and gearing your actions towards that, DOES make you bad, as it makes you never take any risks at all.
If you are good, you can do things that are more ballsy without having a significant chance of death. If you can kill like 20 to 50 dudes per lossmail, but still going out there and getting good fights, you're doing it right. That's what I try to do. My top priority are making sure **** dies while my wallet stays happy; I'm all for taking risks if there's gain to be had!
If I'm gonna go out and lose a bunch of ships in PVP just to go do it again the same way hoping it will go better and I'll get some good video, I probably shouldn't have done that. While that methodology does produce some FANTASTIC videos (like Kil2, who set me on the path to training Amarr with his incredible sexy videos), I just don't want to do it like that. That cynabal I lost in the video, I'd had that ship for 53 weeks and killed literally hundreds of people with it.
Also I have health problems up the yin yang, so I usually feel sh+++y and tired. When I do, or when I just feel lazy, I'll fly around in hisec and kill WTs with the brosefs. I try to go for more high-points engagements, and really enjoy times when I can just settle down and f+++ with people on the undock or go "ratting" in null.
TL;DR I actually agree with you, I just really dislike losing ships. That's it really.

I see your reasoning dude, and yeah eve is great for just going out and blowing **** up sometimes. All I can say is that from my personal experience,
1. I would not be nearly as good as I am now (which isn't very good still ) if I hadn't lost tons of ships in reckless ways and thought about why, and
2. The absolute best and most enjoyable fights I've been in happened because I engaged with little to no regard for my own ship. f*ck making videos or producing footage, that feeling when you just pull through is incredible, and it usually doesn't happen if you think through "risk and reward" before you start a fight.
That's all I can say, I'll watch your next one whenever it may be made.

Yeah, that can be pretty awesome. Personally I have lost quite a number of ships in stupid ways, but I learn fast and I learn well. Some things I learned from watching other people die in stupid stupid ways. (I did a lot of this kind of learning while I was in FCON.) I generally don't make the same mistake twice (but when I do, I lose 400M isk in sacrileges).
I can understand the rush from running pell mell into a fight and just going nuts. However, losing the ship kinda ruins it for me. I've definitely gotten that "just pulled through" rush before. To me, it means "That went well, but damn you should be more careful next time." Different folks, different strokes I guess.
I enjoyed your video as well. Good stuff.
