Edited by: Thornat on 10/08/2011 07:52:14 I've been playing eve for a long time but recently a few of my work buddies decided they wanted to play so I set them up with buddy programs. I thought this might be a good time for me to create a second account, that way I can kind of fly and train with them at their level while working on an alt, something I have always wanted to do but just never got around to it.
My question is can I use the buddy program for my alt to get the free plex? Or is this against the rules somehow. I would be using a completetly different account and email so for all intense and purposes it should look like a completetly different person, but in the same token I will be using the same personal information as on my main account, obviously since its my account.
Is this all legal..? I hope it is because I actually already set up the second account.

When you go for additional month of game time, you can. In fact you can send the invite to the same e-mail as you have on your main, and you get a free month.
I never tried it with the plex, so my answer is not really for your specific situation, it could be that CCP added additional checks when you pick "receive PLEX".
Somebody who tried it recently can c/d. _______________________ The best thing in EvE is Barrage M. |

Well my understanding is that you only get the plex is you pay for an account and make it an active account. So basically you kind of get a PLEX for your main and buy 30 days for your alt. At least I think thats how it works. Their really isn't a whole lot of information on the topic.

Thats how it is supposed to work, and it works that way with the extra 30 days. You pay it on your alt, and your main gets 1 more month.
I see no reason why it would work differently with plex, but to be on the safe side, either wait for someone from ISD to reply, or write a petition under the billing category. Those are replied by sales personnel, not GMs, and tend to be replied to quite fast. _______________________ The best thing in EvE is Barrage M. |

I just wanted to jump on and respond to my own thread. I got a response from CCP and the official word is that this is perfectly legal and you will get your PLEX as expected.

Yes it is a way to create full 51 day accounts at no cost, which (if you're not wearing tinfoil hats) is a cheap way of getting friends into the game. If you DO wear tinfoil then you might realise it's a great way for CCP to hide subscription drops, as no one is stopping you from making multiple useful alt accounts and recreating them (or selling the char) afterwards.
