Perhaps because they are idiots.
At least that's one less bunch of spam in local.

Honestly their spam in local annoyed more then anything else. It was not even a good scam, unlike the ones abusing the margin trading skill at the moment.
The ones whoe invested into this scheme deserved to lose it.

Eve investment bank did it better, originality; unchecked, time taken to spam every local with that blattently obvious scam; probably the same amount they would have made doing missions/plexing/mining/wormhole sites You guys make squeeky noises when you pop, and that's enough motivation as far as I'm concerned. |

The SEC? What did they change? They have a 100% failure rate!

A corp that has been around for a while spamming local with "Give us ISK, we trade with it and give you weekly 5% payouts" or something like that. They've refused all requests to say how they are going to make the money which rang all sorts of alarm bells in people who ever heard about a Ponzi scheme.
Aparently 4000 people did not know how to google and thus lost their ISK. Of course that number comes from a scammer, so I would not rely on it too much.

IMO so many scams work because EVE is not using real money, and you CAN create money out thin air. You're much more careful with RL cash (well, I hope :P ) since you cannot simply get yourself a new Ibis and mine your way up again here on Earth - in EVE even the worst desaster can be countered with enough grind.
Thus too many people go "Oh well, I can afford to lose x ISK", and that's what scammers prey on.
But there's certainly a fair share of 12 year olds as well :)

Edited by: Serpents smile on 12/08/2011 04:53:24 Well, I was like bored, thought their website looked really pro and I had 150 mil "over", so I was like, 'what the heck' if It's scam not much lost, if it's not I have 150 mil extra in my pocket and I will put 300 mil in next time.
Not going to be a next time now. The spam in local was indeed getting annoying and I knew then it was probably turning out to be a scam. It sounded way too desperate to be from a serious investor.
To the OP, mad no. Why should I be. It's like jumping into low sec, you then know you probably get shot at. Like going along with anyone setting up something like phaser inc. here in EVE.
At least I didn't use my EVE PW for the account. Now *that* would had been really stupid.

They did say how they are making ISK: By trading. I know a bit about trading and 5% weekly profit doesn't seem too much, which is why I thought that this just might be real and not Ponzi Scheme.
However, I never invested more than I could afford to lose (max 300 mil), and in this case I withdraw all in time so I lost nothing.
Still I'm disappointed to find out that this was just another scam. |

2 months into playing EVE, saw the phaserinc stuff hammering trade where ever i went and still was cluey enough to know it was screaming scam. Louder than a jackhammer 2 inches from my ear. Thankfully i rarely have local open so i could avoid 98% of it.
I am amazed anyone sent them anything. But as other said a its just a game, and b its not like a few m isk is hard to make in eve. My 2 month old character has passed 3b and i dont play the market

Did you post on forums about that after you had waited over 1 day? If not, why not?
I got my 300 mil back within 24 hours as promised. If it would've taken longer, then I would've posted on forums at once, informing others of their empty promises.
