Jumping from a system to another is one of the most awful things in the game: it looks like you leave a box and enter into another one.
It would be great to have some kind of short animation, even a 1 or 2 seconds one would do it, but it should not looks like it is an animation actually.
I think it should be a very high priority that would give a huge boost to immersion to EVE.

Yes, lets increase lag more by loading and buffering a film instead of the message saying entering new system.
Or, realize that through a stargate your traveling so fast, that you cant really see anything anyway and your ship helpfully displays a message on your HUD to tell you whats up.

Your pod pilot passes out during stargate jumps. Hence the sensation of instant travel (though it is near instant).
Anyway, the stargate setup is simply (other than lore) to make the single universe possible.

I'm not proposing to add a delay, just to COVER the actual one with something better, since the transition from one system to anoter is NOT istant, it takes a couple of moments; what i'm saying is simply to cover that time with something better and smooter that give a better idea of the jump travel, instead of the 'box' feeling that we have now.
Oh and in a CCP video you can see a pretty nice way to solve the problem, it's like going through a door, very smoothly and naturally, not the crappy effect we have now.

Anything would be better than: ->Right click, jump ->Wait half a second ->Bubble effect ->Empty system for 1 second ->Loading bar appears ->UI flashes off for half a second ->Everything is black, loading bar increases ->Space of destination system and UI appear, camera is focused on nothing in particular ->Your ship appears behind the loading bar, and randomly rotates from an obscene angle to a stupid angle. Camera jarringly changes to your ship. ->Wait half a second ->Done
Not visually appealing whatsoever.

You got it. Maybe people disliking this idea simply didn't get what i mean: it would make the jump looks better, so why not?

I don't really mind how jumping looks right now, but it would be great if they could make it function in the same way as the trailer you posted without messing things up.

Softening the transitions with animations makes them seem faster for most people.
The same principle would apply to docking and undocking.
