Hi Everyone,
Now that I am skilled up, I wish to go to the lower security systems where Deadspace and Officer modules crop up. I have heard that these modules are very valuable, so naturally I want to get hold of them to make me some nice ISK.
Can people give me some general info on how to get old of these items please?
Questions I would like answered are along the lines of: Where do I go? How do I get them? Who drops them? etc etc...

Either go EC- or HED-, both systems are the only one were you have a constant flow of officers in the belts.

alright lets point out that going into low-sec and nullsec without knowing what you're doing will make you and your ship pop.
now that we got that cleared lets answer your question(s):
1) Officer spawns are uber rare and will apear in -1.0 - -0.8 nullsec system belts (there might found in higher security systems but unlickly) 2) Deadspace modules drop at Plexes (aka signatures you scan with probes) those signatures can be found in pretty much any system no matter the sec status but almost always the lower the system sec is the better the plexes. (check bolted part) 3)officer spawns may or may not drop additional deadspace modules along with its officer mods.
i hope that made it clear

About 6 months ago I had a 4.5 billion isk Chelm's spawn in a -0.34 system. I'm not sure if the new 0.0 changes have any affect on this though?

Last I checked that was only true for conquerable 0.0; officers can also appear anywhere in their native NPC sov 0.0. Take that with a grain of salt; I don't hunt for them either way.

Edited by: Disastro on 15/08/2011 02:11:56 Officer spawns are named rats that spawn in 0.0. I have seen them spawn in bad true sec systems as well as good true sec ones. I have even seen them spawn in npc 0.0 systems. They can drop incredibly valuable loot. I have seen drops in my corp alone that were worth 5 bil or more. I have personaly had one officer spawn that dropped nothing but serpentis faction crap worth only a couple hundred million. It is variable.
As stated, however, if you wander off in dreams of 5 bil isk drops i have a few points you might want to consider:
1. Spawns are very rare. I have been playing over three years and have only personally had one. I dont at that much but still....
2. Everyone in 0.0 is out to kill you. Wander into someone elses space and they will gang up on you and hunt you down. Every part of 0.0 is claimed by someone.
3. It is not easy getting round in 0.0 unless you are in a cloaky nullified t3 ship. Killing officer spawns in a cloaky t3 is not an easy task. I solo killed cormack with mine but it took me about 15 minutes to do so and i had to keep range on him out of his blaster range. Others might be harder. I hear that the number of henchman he has with him may vary with true sec. Not sure if that is true but it could be. Others might require help to kill.

Ah yeah, should've mentioned that. NPC 0.0 is special in a lot of ways. --------------------

I recently moved out to 0.0 and came across a bunch of anomalies but none escalated. IN one of the complexes that i scanned down i found a rat that was worth 7.5 mil isk but only dropped about 120 mil in loot. Just have to find ****. It might be time consuming and you might have to go to hostile space to finish of an escalation but damn it'll be worth a lot when you finally get something.
