I recently accepted a buddy invite from a player and I was promised 150 mill if I subscribed. I read through a few different offers and this one seemed the best offer so I decided to go with it. Anyway I've subscribed now and I've contacted the player only to find they aren't going to pay up. Is there anything I can do to get the ISK from them or have them punished for this? Thanks Elephant Juice

Welcome to EvE ... scamming is part of the sandbox experience. on an other note, should have taken it from me :P i have the same 150 mil thing + extra help if joined to my corp :)
well anyways ... there is no official rewarding system for the invited player side (other then +7 days), its just to catch the attention. Anyhow, next time, make your selection based on how trustworthy are they instead of how much they said they will pay.
help a lot if you are actually buddies with the person or at least know where they live ;) if you know what i mean.

You got 7 days of free play time for nothing, and you still consider yourself scammed? You might be in for a tough ride if you stick with EVE. ---

Far as scams go, you got quite a good deal out of this one. Next time you want to get ISK in that kind of manner, look into buying a timecode (shattered crystal are pretty good, I hear) and redeem it to sell as ingame items (2x PLEX) - you will get roughly 600m to 700m ISK for them. Any other way will likely get you banned and/or the ISK you get removed.

As scams go, that really is the most abhorrent one I've ever read of. I'd petition it, as account billing is involved.
Not everyone in EVE is scum, but expect to have to wade through a lot of crud finding the few good ones. So expect to be cheated, scammed, betrayed, etc., by everyone you meet. It is all a part of the game. Trust is the most valuable commodity in EVE.
Check your wallet, and welcome to EVE.

You've got the first entry on your list of not trustworthy people. However it's much easier to have a list of people that you dare to trust and call everyone else not trustworthy.
He traded his reputation for 150 million ISK. Personally I'd go for the reputation.
I don't know if its a petitionable offense. Technically I doubt it. The intended use of buddy invites is to gather new players instead of additional alt characters. It's unlikely that actual new players get scammed because they will not get offered some reward for it on the forum or ingame to begin with.
