I got to the point in the tutorial where I am supposed to fit my ship with the weapon and repair module. But I can't equip the repair module because my repair skill hasn't been learned yet. Do I have to wait until tomorrow to play the game, or is there some way around this?

No, you have to wait ~15 minutes for the skill to train to Level 1. Patience, grasshopper. ---------------

You can switch skills around in the skill queue by dragging them up or down. So if you put the repair skill on the first spot and hit apply it'll then start training immediately. __ Friendliness goes a long way |

Doing this won't erase your progress from that skill either. It'll just stop at that point and you can resume it later without implications.

You probably wonŠt even need your repair module right away since the rats are really laughable. The last combat tutorial mission will prove a challege, though, so you might train your repair skill up anyway before that.
Also, when your exploration agent gives you an astrometric skillbook, you will want to train that skill up as well since without it, you cannot launch the necessary probes you will need two missions later (in this case, the agent strongly advises you to do that, though).

You receive(d) a Civilian version that doesn't require skills when you accept the mission.

The OP is talking about the new Aura tutorial arc.
You get deliberately damaged down to 50% armour by the mission mechanic to force you to use the Armour Repairer.
The following mission is doable with 50% armour if you let your shields load up. You can circumvent fitting thus learning the Armor Repairer even though the tutorial will not proceed - just click it away and continue with the next section from the help window (F12).
Or do it as said above, it takes just a couple of minutes...
