Originally by: Reicine Ceer I would have thought that having them as a limited asset to Alliances would be the logical option.
For example, should there be an alteration to the game where an Alliance is only allowed to have, say, 10 maximum at a time, limited through whatever means and with an overlong replacement period (as 'the stick'), then changes to how the ship itself works wouldn't be necessary.
From a non-alliance person on the outside looking in, id've thought this option would force Alliances to carefully consider SC deployment, which'd in turn lead to more tactical use of SCs in general.
If im horribly wrong, would appreciate an explanation as to why this wouldn't work :)
This wouldn't work at all, because people would make smaller alliances that just NAP'd each other to field the extra ships.
ALL of these suggestions have been so overdone on this forum... I mean, god, it just hurts my brain sometimes.
If you "nerf" super capitals you are spitting in the face of all the players who have busted their asses to get into them. If you remove them from the game, you are limiting content and removing some of the reasons people play.
I'll tell you right now, when I first started playing, I looked at almost every ship in the game, and I saw the Nyx and I was in love. I thought to myself "one day I'll have one of those. Guess I'll probably get a thanatos first though." Yes, some people DO actually play games with the idea of progressing to a new stage/level/ship as one of their primary goals.
The answer is not to nerf. The answer is to counter them with new content (some module that ruins your plan of lolzillion ehp, or similar) or BUFF the underused, already existing, great content, like dreads. Who cares about bashing pos's with them. CCP knows it's the most boring thing in the world. So give the dread a good combat edge against some of these other ships.
Someone give a good reason why several dreads (not one on one) shouldn't be able to actually get at a supercarrier or titan?

Really? You don't have a problem with a ship with 50m+ EHP that can track an ABing BC well enough to one shot it with guns at 2500m? Cause the guns work even after a DD. The only counter to Titans right now is more Titans, and that's ****.

The solution is simple. Let dreads receive reps in siege. Or remove siege completely. That + a slight EHP boost and its solved.
