As star systems across New Eden continue to be plundered and invaded by hostile fleets commanded by the revenant named Sansha Kuvakei, one wonders what some of his faithful followers are doing by not supporting his war effort. It's common sense to imagine that they can best serve their master by fighting with his fleets, collecting materials for war, and performing all the other mundane tasks that go into fighting a war. But rather than follow that line of reasoning, a few of his servants have instead doggedly committed themselves to the tasks of research and exploration. One doesn't have to wonder much at all at this development: what other reason explains their choice of service except that these capsuleers believe that whatever scientific breakthroughs they make will greatly advance their master's cause? And, like many other explorers and scientists who have been taken in by the chicanery of high-sounding ideals of "free exchange of knowledge," these Nation academics are fast becoming part of the core of Hilen Tukoss's scientific community.
For the record, I do not agree with those of you who do support Hilen Tukoss's efforts. I oppose the man, to say the least, and all of what he intends to create through his project. But I do not bear any ill-will against individual members of his community, those of you who have only aligned themselves with his goals out of a human desire to do some good. All I believe is that you are misleading yourselves by believing that anything good will stem from this project.
With the inclusion of these Nation researchers among its community, my organization fastly made a determination that the Arek'Jaalan Project is a liability in the war against Sansha's Nation - and, by extension, a threat to New Eden. These Nation confederates are privy to all of the knowledge being accumulated by the Arek'Jaalan researchers, and this is knowledge that no sensible soul among any of New Eden's four nations would wish Sansha Kuvakei to have. While these capsuleers labor extensively for the collective goals of the Project, their kindly master invades star systems and captures innocents, and I can't consider anyone who would support the efforts of either anything but directly complicit in the horrors that are now heralding Sansha's return. These creatures that now assist in the abduction of millions must be denied every advantage that they could possibly acquire for the Nation they serve. They must be fought and blocked in every way possible, including by denying them access to the work done by the Arek'Jaalan community.

I disagree with you sir, perhaps the traitor Tukoss is merely working on a solution to the Sansha Wormholes that have been appearing near trade hubs like Jita. I do believe you should not be so easily swayed against what could be the downfall of the Nation. Yes Hilen Tukoss is a traitor and a criminal, but one who may be soon dealing with the Nation threat. If he turns out to be siding with Kuvakei then he too will be destroyed. Only time will tell though.

My master has requested me to reapond. It is well known hitorically that the great Empires and by extension their corporations were involved in the initial Sansha experiments but that they eventually withdrew and attacked the Nation. Considering that the stimulus for many of these things has been Jove technology, and that the Sansha wormhole travel may also be Jovian in origin, it is a moot point to research Sansha. On the other hand, Sansha requires research on New Eden, and seems to be well on the way to acquiring it. Indications of current research by credible parties are that it is possible to shut down jump gates. It would seem that wormhole travel would then afford Sansha a tremendous strategic advantage. Perhaps we should be researching Jove tech or some of the promising archaeotech out there rather than giving our secrets to Sansha.

I agree with your idea Yunaike. Perhaps we need to be researching superior tech, the further be able to counter whatever nefarious scheme Sansha Kuvakei or those neurotics in the Blood Raider Covenant have in mind. If we were able to further our tech through an understanding of how our ancestors travelled we would be better prepared to face whatever is in our future. I say we stop studying Sansha's tech and worry about how we can surpass it. This is however just an idea.

I would just like to point out a vital flaw in this assessment: EVERYONE is privy to all of the knowledge being accumulated by the Arek'Jaalan researchers.
Therefor whether Sansha loyalists were present within the Project or not, they would have the same access to the information as you, or any other person with eyes that can read.

Since everyone gets the data, it is to Sansha's advantage. After all his people have been out of the New Eden picture for quite awhile, thus he learns about us while filtering data from his own.

By being present in the project, they can work towards discrediting research that might eventually harm the Nation, encourage research that benefits Nation the most (utilizing a much better research staff than they have in Stain), and place their minions in positions where they can, should it be necessary, interfere.
Does it confuse you that their main lackeys tried to get into the position of the Ethics Commitee, where they can work towards declaring research that suits them "ok" even if it is against all human decency, and research that might hurt the Nation as "bad"? And into the position of Chief of Security, where they have tight control and can easily neutralize any defenses should that so be necessary for a Sansha attack?
You, ma'am, are naive.

Please. This would only be possible if the group of esteemed scientists we're talking about were in actuality a group of bumbling morons who couldn't tell up from down.

I would share your concern if division leads had any sort of executive power. They do, however, not wield that sort of power. Therefor the fear is entirely misplaced.

If by naive you somehow mean well informed, then by all means. Yes, I'm naive. My information is based on evidence, not wild speculation. Let's not let our imaginations run away with us. _____________________________________ For science, much can be justified. |

Does it confuse you that the authority of the EC and SEC have been greatly exaggerated by vapid halfwits with nothing better to do than *****? It would be amusing to hear you provide an actual example of a "good" project Nation's hipsters have derailed, or a "bad" one they have advanced.
Or perhaps the Electus Matari brain trust might write up some talking points on why actual examples are overrated. Is there still someone clever on staff?

I strongly recommend that people review the Arek'Jaalan data and Project proposals that are already underway. The easiest place to begin this review is on the Arek'Jaalan Compendium.
Advanced astronavigation and mapping all fall under what is loosely termed The Pathfinder Program. Projects are actively gearing up and will need capsuleer assistance if they are to be successful in a reasonable time frame.

Please see Project Catapult (Sansha wormhole generator tech - contact Rhavas), which is in RFC now and will be officially launched and recruiting soon.

Consider an analogy. In Khanid Space there exist many research installations under the aegis of the Kingdom. Pretend for a moment that Caldari and Minmater scientists offered to come and research with them. Explain to me why the Khanid Kingdom would not enslave them or refuse them entry due to security considerations? Similarly with this Arek project... someone must want the data very badly to risk security at this level of galaxy spanning research. As for security, it is doubtful that protocols will prevent loss of data. Especially if capsuleers from Sansha are in on it. Kill them and they clone at base, knowledge intact.

As others have already pointed out... all of this information is publicly available anyhow. There's no need for espionage. |
