Was reading the mission diag and saw that it said "might want to bring backup," so I thought I'd jump in to see what was what before I asked for help.
One minute and 30+ Amarr spawns later while being warp jammed I said goodbye to my T2 fitted Navy Scorp.
I mean really? I've been tanking lvl4 missions for months now and never have I seen anything as stupid as this.
Fun times.

It's a hard L4 but you need a AB to keep range. Once they get within like 60km I think they start to bring the pain. If you manage to get webbed and they get into your range and you die then you almost deserved it

I give you my sympathy,
What was your fit?
A navy scorp should never die in a level 4 mission, it has an epic tank!
When i was running with mine it was rare to ever get in trouble, i remember doing this mission myself without problems, just read up in advance if you have never run the mission.. Plenty of 800 cap boost ftw!!
*Fully t2, could have been your problem faction/deadspace boosters are sooo much better.. DG xl booster/DG amp/ Heavy cap booster/ invul field and 2 hardners... simples

its probably the hardest mission... in order to keep up my vargur tank i had to overheat a lot and to warp out 3-4 times...
you have my sympathies, i almost had a heart attack when my newly bought vargur got hull damage.

The only thing I can think of is that your ship was not fitted correctly. And like the other guy said, kill the warp jammers first. Also if you really want to keep doing missions I suggest using eve-survival.org. It takes the fun out a bit, but mission running gets old regardless. With the proper fit it can be done with any Battleship and certain battlecruisers with ease.

That or blitz it. It shouldn't take more than five minutes (and that's being generous).
If you do want to kill everything, plan for a protracted engagement followed by an extremely protracted looting session just to make it worthwhile.

It's without a doubt the hardest.
The only one i ever skip, because it's too time consuming. You do get some good loot and salvage for it, though.

While you don't need the AB, you do need to get out to 100k or more. No instant aggro so traveling to range is no big deal. The AB helps you get there quicker. 1st order of business is to kill all frigs, then cruisers. And like Skald says, never ever let the BS get under 60k.
Tags are worth over 12 mil and salvage is very lucrative. Last time I did it I got 30 melted capacitors and 36 armor plates. Hope this info helps.

I used to tank this mission in a crappy low-skill drake way back when I still didn't care about my amarr standing!
I thoroughly enjoy the mishaps of carebears who simply can't fly!

Edited by: JackStraw56 on 21/08/2011 05:47:41 Probably the hardest to tank mission I can think of. That said, it is possible to run without rediculously overtanking your ship.
In a Maelstrom I used to do it without warping out by using an afterburner and artillery and keeping range.
In a Machariel I can do it without warping out by orbiting the blob of BSs and essentially speed tanking them.
That said, I don't do it anymore to preserve my Amarr standing

Sorry to hear you lost your ship.
But it's realy not a hard mission. How ever I have never used the Caldarie line of BS's. But I can tank it in any of my other BS's with little problem.
But I do use full Crystal set with a Large deadspace booster and caldire boost amp on a Malestorm and 4 mission hardners so were talking a fairly good tank and nice instant dps from ether Arty or Auto's. Though I do recomend going the route of Artys and sniping for lower skill/geared pilots.
I only used my Malestrom and an example but it's much easyer in any armor tank becouse of the base res%. I personly like using my Navy Gedeon on this mission and any em/therm weak ones.
Is it a rock? Point a Lazer at it and profit. Is it a ship? Point a Lazer at it and profit. I dont realy see any differnces here. |

cool story, too bad its very inaccurate 1. rats spawn in 1-2min intervals 2-3 ships per class(battleships/cruisers/frigates) over 15-20min time period 2. only ewar in this mission is cap neutralizers and tracking disruptors, no webs or warp disruptors 3. your mission objective is to kill the tower (~30 volleys of torps), not the ships guarding it...

To the Op: can you dual box?
The first few times I did this mission I had my head handed to me and it took hours to complete. But now I can do it in 30 mins. Have two ships. One, who sits at 100KM from the spawning Amarr fleet and is tanked to the hilt for Kinetic damage. Your 2nd ship attacks only those ships that are attacking your first ship. But stay alert as other ships may start to attack your 2nd ship. First order of business, take out the battleships attacking your 1st ship. Sometimes a frig or cruiser will attack your 2nd ship, kill it and keep on the battleships. Or, if you can, just take out all the frigs and cruisers before concentrating on the battleships. It is now a fun mission for me. If its not obvious, my Amarr standings are deep in the toilet.

Are you seriously trolling? Tank for kinetic? Shoot the BS's first? Wow, how inept.

This. My SNI always has a webifier in one of its 8 mids. Makes webbing/scramming frigates and drones so much easier to kill.

As others said, orbit at 90+ km but don't let BSes get within 50Km. However, as others neglected to mention...
Take out the FR factory first.
Take out the CR factory next.
Let your drones take out FRs.
Weapons take out CRs and then, leisurely, BSes.
If you don't care about Amarr standings, keep the mission open for the full 6 days for the daily reset. The salvage in this mission is worth more than the LPs.
If you do these things and have reasonable L4 skills, it is fairly easy.
