Some of CCP's employees would make good politicians, they can spin tomes and say absolutely nothing. I'm not impressed with any of this, CCP wasted at least three years developing Incarna (and the testbed for the macro-transaction infested World of Darkness), and as far as I can tell, the majority of the Eve Community hates it. Is it not obvious that Incarna is purely a mechanism to 'push' players towards spending real money?
CCP repeatedly promises this and that, but never really delivers (at least not like they did in the past). How do they still have any credibility?
My fellow Eve Players, please open your eyes and read between the lines. Eve is not what it once was, and I fear it never will be again. |

Because it's not game, it's a hobby, one that many people have invested a large amount of time and money into.
Imagine going to your local golf club and telling the members that their course was going to be bull-dozed and turned into an 18-hole crazy-golf course, complete with windmills, I imagine they would be pretty annoyed about that, and that's what CCP are doing to Eve.
LOL - Quoted for (in some great way) the most "truthy" post in all of New Eden the past few months on the forums.
My hat goes off to you good Doctor. I still stand by my earlier post that you "get what you give in life" when it comes to cursing and treating well intentioned Devs in dev blogs...but I hope CCP reads your post and realizes what they have basically "created."
For me still - and I think I am one of the few - EVE is still (and always will be) a game.
I have kids, job, wife and even if I didn't I still just enjoy games for what they are - a game - something you can pickup and leave for ::cough:: SHORT ::cough:: periods of time with friends.
Again - great post I hope CCP (especially HILMAR) and the CSM reads your post and really ponders it.
Cheers

Will I be able to play again? After incarna eve has problems with my gfx and windows has always to restore the crashed driver. The only advice I got was to update the drivers (which were already to the lastet version) and changing some nonsense settings.

Its really sad that this blog hasn't to say anything specific. As much as I appreciated the release of Incarna, it is a drag for me now. You can't do anything more on station than before ... oh, sorry, I forgot the luxury store. Now we read, "it is comming something " ... oh yeah. I can't find anything motivating for now. Please give us more backgrounds what is comming !!

Why CCP das not recognize that CQ is one big failure? Did you make survey to find how many players have turned off CQ? Personaly I dont know single player that left CQ on. CCP have to ask self, why people Play EVEon line. I am certain that is not for that walking in station and CQ is not even that, playng with charaters wardrobe and similar crap. All resources invested in developing this thing, coulded be invested in developing some realy interesting stuffs. First what i can think of is flayng in to planets atmosfere , interacting with structures on surface of celestials objects... Eh yes and when will "spining ship" feture will be bring back, as was promised, i am tired of watching that door.

You're tired of watching a door? Hm, why not turning on CQs then? With it you could see some other things as well - including a spinnig ship. ^^ I always have CQs turned on and heard of others who have as well. I like Incarna so far. It gives EVE much more immersion. But of course CCP should deliver more now, since this whole thing also urgently needs some gameplay wise meaning.

To be honest, I never thought of EVE as a fast developing game. For me it seemed always veeery, veeeeeeery slow in stepping forwards - at least compared to other products. In fact, I would be surprised seeing something 'usefull' before the end of the year. I think, EVE is healthy enough a business to quicken up the pace a bit, but well, that's the decision of CCP. A financially important decision btw, since this is one reason for the breaks players take from EVE. I can always take a step back, cancel my sub for months, and observe the game from afar again. Good deal for me. *shrug* ^^

Edited by: Makari Aeron on 23/08/2011 17:43:35 Kinda disappointed with the lack of what will actually BE in the patch. While it's understandable that devs want some time off, not modeling/skinning 3 additional rooms of (in my unofficial and unprofessional opinion) miniscule proportions in this amount of time is frankly ridiculous. Do you know what the first thing I do upon starting up EVE on a new machine? Turning off CQ. Why do you ask? I can't run more than 1 account with CQ because of the lag. I also find it slower than using the side bars because the character walks so slowly. If there is an option to turn off CQ, I will turn it off every time. If I can't turn it off in the future, I will avoid stations at all costs. The waste of resources is NOT worth it.

Nope, there is no spinning ship as was before, and that is what CCP promised that will bring back. Ability to spin ship in station without that CQ failure.

I'm not too sure if someone already mentioned this (skimmed the last two pages, so I could have missed it)... but in all technicality, to follow their "by the end of the summer promise" they have an additional 3 weeks after August 30th. Summer lasts until the autumnal equinox... This year, that falls on the 23rd of September.
Maybe we should be optimistic and assume that's what they meant? I will, anyways. What's the worst that can happen? They've already disappointed my consistently with the last few "expansions" or whatever they feel like calling them.

I would love to turn on CQ. In fact, I have it on when I play at lunch at work. At home though, turning on CQ will often push ExeFile.exe's memory usage to the Windows limit for user-space processes of 2GB, so Eve cannot allocate memory, so it crashes. |

Sorry Martin but you try to find an excuse. Summer ends when September starts. That is September 1.
I don't care about ancient or religious or whatever else Summer end time. Oh and no I don't want to know when Galactic Summer ends since by then even the ash of my bones will be long gone. Common sense Summer ends September 1. That is in less then two weeks.

An analysis of the information provided in the latest devblog
Summer and incarna 1.1 reported by CCP Fallout | 2011.08.19 11:15:28 | NEW | Comments
During the summer months, EVE Online players become anxious for more news and information about their favorite game.
More like during PR crapstorms that are barely given lipservice, followed by no updates and certainly no positive action in game.
Vacation time, for the average capsuleer, is EVE time. Capsuleers rarely take time off from flying around in space, pulling the latest, greatest, ever-larger scams, or engaging in massive fleet battles that make CCP Veritas salivate with glee.
Actually people DO take time off. Especially when waiting for CCP to fix things introduced with Incarna
But what is going on at CCP when so many are on holiday? Does everything stop while holidays and return trips home occur? Does further development for EVE take a back seat to tanning oil and proper English breakfasts? Not at all! Even though many of my co-workers are on holidays, work towards improving the game and fighting the war on lag continues.
This is a time that we will watch what you do and not what you say. Not that you are actually saying anything anyway.
Now that you are better familiar with how work progresses on EVE Online during the summer months,
No, not really.
It's time to talk about EVE Online: Incarna, and its future.
Finally we get down to the actual content
A number of players have been asking me, both on the forums and on Twitter when the remainder of the Captain's Quarters will be released. Since the release of Incarna, we have continued to iterate and improve the Minmatar CQ while pushing forward with the development of the remaining racial quarters, as well as working apace on establishments.
Incarna 1.1 will see the results of our progress on improving the existing CQ,
An iteration of 1, that we haven't even seen yet. How about some actual improvement to the game? Fixing the atrociously unresponsive UI would be a good start but that's just my issue. There have been FAR FAR more questions about content that matters than there have been regarding the ability to stand around in different rooms all by yourself.
...later this year we plan on deploying the remaining racial quarters to Tranquility as well as the next Incarna feature, establishments.
When do you plan to re-implement the station hanger, a responsive UI, introduce the ship rebalances you claim to be working on and also announce proper details regarding changes that are coming to 0.0?
Finally, thanks for showing us the door yet again ~~~

Edited by: Jade Greenfire on 25/08/2011 00:07:50 Edited by: Jade Greenfire on 25/08/2011 00:04:26 Lets face it, while we appreciate the hard work that has gone into Incarna, CQ is simply pure eye candy, nothing more. At this point, it only serves to frustrate players who were better served by the original station layout and fuctionality. CQ has zero impact on actual game play, hence why allot of people just disable it outright. The introduction of establishments whilst maybe nice is still NOT what we need or want right now. What we seriously need from CCP is: A information update on ship rebalances (ie to dreads and supers), plus details regarding changes to 0.0 (missions/plexing and sov)and a approximate date or timming of when they will happen (supposedly in this winters expansion, althought I believe Hilmar said the 0.0 changes are not scheduled until 2014?). CCP needs to understand that players, corps and alliances in 0.0 have become kinda stuck to a significant degree, not wanting to risk too much until the above details are revealed as it will have a SIGNIFICANT impact on players, corps and alliances & their ability to enjoy the game, over all. Hence alot of people are frustrated due to the lack of any real information & are now, playing other games while we continue to have to wait months.

I agree in general. However unlike you I am expecting Incarna and establishments to be the next deployment. CQ is realy just the first step, which is fine to me because CCP has announced that it will be released step by step. But the big issue i have: these steps are slower than the human kind learned to walk upright. We get an expansion over 3-4 deployments where there's like almost two month between the patches and more badly - almost none to zero effects on game play.

We did not provide a date on when the racial CQs would be released outside of saying this summer. And please watch your tone. There are much better ways to voice your displeasure :D
May I ask, why is there a COMMENT "button" for such useless devblogs like this, when NO CCP guy will respond to the community comments? All what they do is trolling the community and cry, when nearly no one is sadisfied with the product EVE online. We have the right to be NOT sadisfied with your game, because it is evolving into a way, that most player / customer dont like. DO what your paying customer base want and NOT, what you think they would maybe, eventually or perhaps like. As long as you do what only you want (OK its your game, and you are the developer), it IS our right to comment in a way you DONT like (We are the payer).
BTW... Ship spinning.. is this problem topically, or was it only a trying to tease the community and to delay the problem to a time, where barely one will remember to this, because YOU did another sh!t that would be much more important to solve?
Any answers?

They are doing the tactical approach to delay it until all the most passionate users have unsubbed so hardly any rage will occur at that stage.
