Summer is a time for holidays, but that does not mean that work on expanding and improving EVE Online ceases. CCP Fallout talks about our next patch, Incarna 1.1, and what lies beyond. You can read the full dev blog here.

Are there any actual tentative dates for Incarna 1.2? Or is that still crystal ball territory?
Also, are we going to see anything from these other shiny CQ and the establishments you speak of before release? Hopefully soon« (as opposed to soonÖ) -------------------------------- Fleet Admiral, Fleet Coordination Coalition |

Edited by: Aethlyn on 19/08/2011 11:21:55 Guess most would have hoped to see one or more new screens from progress on the other CQs instead of "The Door". :) At least there's some raw estimate (I consider September to be part of Fall already). Hope to see patch notes soon.
Random question: Will the current SiSi build (i.e. overheating fixes/Incarna 1.0.2) be deployed to TQ before 1.1 or will everything be included in 1.1 (as it's less than 2 weeks till then anyway)? __________ Looking for more thoughts? Read my blog or follow me on Twitter. |

Most of the 1.0.2 fixes have already been deployed to TQ.

I'm interested if you are doing something to optimize CQ for lower end computers. As of now my laptop grinds hard to give me 10fps of that low quality character in a single room, while most current games run decently at least on lower settings.

Please give a release date for when "The Door" will be improved, as you promised the CSM would be fixed soon.
After you have fixed what has been broken, on purpose, to **** off players that don't want to use CQ, continue on developing new stuff.

Do you really expect interest in Incarna/Minmatar Captains Quarters to last until you release the other CQ's now? Or are most people going to have turned it off by then?
Bad call CCP, all four of the CQ's should have been ready to go before the deployement of Incarna, thats just common sense, especially considering how technically lackluster it is.
Also you didn't really make an attempt to answer any questions or quell any concerns, you didn't even mention the possibilities for the return of the hangar.
Very dissapointing, I think your time may be better spent on holiday to be frank, come back when you have rediscovered your passion for this work.
And next time someone decides it's a good idea to release an eagerly anticipated expansion just before you all go on holiday, tell them to take there holiday early. |

That explains it then, the CCP employee was likely drunk at the time. Also, that's hardly official, is it? I'd save the vitriol for after September 23rd, which is when most people consider "summer" to be over in the hemisphere that CCP may be assumed to address. Of course, if they are actually talking about summer on Osmeden IX, we may be in for a bit of a wait.

WHEN will we get a multiplayer station environment?
Seriously... when will a player be able to interact with another player while WIS? All this 'please please buy our new stiletto shoes $$$' is getting a little teadious without a single reason to buy them.
Will these 'establishments' mean I can walk through the station and enter another playesr's shop and interact with him.... or is it as I fear, and we will just be able to call up a listing of what another player has for sale in their 'establishment' from the TV in our solo CQ???? --- Jint Hikaru - Miner / Salvager / Explorer / SpaceBum I can tell you that this is one of the moments when we look at what those at CCP will do and less of what they say. |

- Allow players to drag & drop ships to activate them?
- Make it easy to see what ship is currently boarded? *
- Enable choice to make the default station view be from the balcony looking at your ship instead of the indifferent screens flickering on the wall behind the sofa?
- Allow players to right-click on the ship/background instead of being forced to find the ship in the Ship Window?
- Enable a player to center and zoom the view on the ship and maybe even spin it?
- Make players able to disable double-click to move character?
* Like a Text centered on top of the Screen naming Shiptype and Shipname or perhaps a small window overlapping the station logo on the right hand side with an image of your ship?
Also yes that was a pretty thin devblog unless you have more devblogs ready to follow up... But thank you for writing it instead of providing us with nothing.

Instead of telling people to watch thir tone/language why not see to it you ( CCP ) actually do something other then saying "oh yes information is coming" and then its not. In addition, if you are unable to do CQ for 4 races how will you be able to do the last 3 and establishments? let me guess, it goes into the 5 year nullsec "plans"?
You mentioned august 30 for 1.1, wanna bet you mess up and cant release it until next year?
Thats how much respect we have for you ( CCP ) atm, mostly because of the total lack of information. BTW!! This blog post was among the most useless posts I've seen. CCP is apparently aware of the need for information but they dont have any so they release crap in an attempt to keep us happy ( did not work )

I'm taking all with some grain of salt - and reaching for the arm when given the hand but anyway: Is that starting (Q4 2011) to do some planning (Q2 2012) for some releasing (Q4 2012) or actually releasing (Q4 2011) of establishments? Establishments in the NPC variant or already driven by capsuleers?
In the highly optimistic but awesome release Q4 2011 AND capsuleer driven case, about when would corresponding information be available? I'd like to know on what I should start saving on (ISK, skills, standings, Aurum, more ISK, mothers, all of that, ... )

- Skills not applying, this STILL triggers! * - UI locking up, especially when loosing a ship and trying to get pod out. ** - Possibly related to UI issue, pod taking far to long to warp after a ship loss. ** - Frigates/ceptors that previously wasn't hit by gate guns when GCC are being hit before entering warp. Stations have same issue.
THESE ARE IMPORTANT FOR ***ACTUAL*** GAMEPLAY! (AND HAVE BEEN BROKEN SINCE INCARNA RELEASE!)

re the vacation length. research has shown 2 week vacations are not long enough to have much effect on people's stress levels. 1 week vacations have bupkiss effect on the long term stress levels.
it isn't until you reach 3 4 weeks that you see real long term stress levels drop appreciably. maybe the euro's are onto something there.

I've been thinking for a few weeks now that it would be nice to at least see some concept art of the other 3 races CQ's. So far we've seen absolutely nothing. I can't think of a good reason for why that is. People like concept art even if its covered in work in progress disclaimers.
It has been quiet on the news front lately, since the NeX fiasco actually, and I've been eagerly awaiting to hear some news on what and when we can expect any new developments in EVE beyond nameless Incarna 1.0 bug fixes. This blog tells nor shows me anything new, and goes one step further in teasing us with that bloody door picture. Some players have been staring at that day in day out for some time now. So do I if I log in on my laptop.
Yesterday I was briefly excited to see a new dust514 blog posted (only the second ever) only to find that it also contains no new information.
I want to see some evidence that there is any more content for Incarna beyond the Minmatar CQ in the relatively near future.
I want to hear something about how Dust is coming along.
I want to know what if anything will be in Incarna 1.1 other than vague 'bug fixes and optimisations'. I also want to know why it got pulled from deployment over a month ago, or what took so long to fix. I never saw a reason given.
Is there going to be an Incarna 1.2? At this rate it will be time for the winter expansion before we see it.
The nullsec dev blogs are nice, but as yet they are not yet talking about features or specific game mechanics, they are theory blogs.

God what a total fail release Incarna has been. One let down after another. I can't believe they couldn't finish modelling 3 small rooms since its release.

You say that as if those conclusions were somehow incorrect. The "Fearless" letter may not have been an accurate portrayal of their immediate plans (as far as we know, anyway) but it still paints an ugly picture of the future that you'd have do be a damned moron to not see. CCP's "current plans" have a habit of changing awfully fast, and their recent direction does not fill me, or anybody else with the slightest semblance of pattern recognition, with confidence.
Furthermore, the prediction that the only new Incarna content in 1.1 will be NEX stuff is actually a pretty good judgment. What else could they do? We're not getting more quarters or establishments, so that leaves either no Incarna content, or money grabbing content. And so far, adding **** to their cash shop has been the one iterative thing that CCP has been REALLY interested in lately, or haven't you noticed the recent smaller patches?
I want to believe things will get better. But I'm not a fool. You shouldn't be, either.

I want to believe things will get better. But I'm not a fool. You shouldn't be, either.
I don't have an issue with the NEX market personally. My character has that military jacket and the Odin's Eye. I didn't use real money to get them either.
When I look at the past few expansions there has been almost nothing that I have used from them. I don't do incursions, I don't do PI, I dont use the salvaging ship or whatever. I do however do wormholes and other activities in EVE Online as that has been whats kept me playing EVE Online since 2007.
As for Incarna, I only recently upgraded my computer (i7, CF, 16Gigs of ram, SataIII SSD, etc) and have been 'exploring' the CQ but I dont really care yet as it doesnt provide me with enough content ... however; I dont ***** about it because CCP has never charged me a dime for anything new they do. In fact I have spent almost nothing on EVE Online since I first started playing (Since I have bought PLEX throughout the last few years to pay for my accounts).
As more out of ship content is included I applaud them. I dont mind an all encompassing Sci Fi game. As new expansions come out that I dont even use I welcome as well. As for Pay 2 Win things ... none of those things have been projected. Even the Ishukone Watch Scorpion is just a Tech 1 scorpion with some sandy brown in it.
As for fixing bugs, that would be welcomed. And those type of things I get outspoken from. I dont suck CCPs wee-wee as I am a paying customer, but as far as I am concerned they provide me with a fun game that I enjoy consistently and even give me new stuff for free. Theyre doing alright in my books.
For constructing a whole new facet of EVE's sci fi world do we really want a company like CCP rushing it?

i've been thinking about what would be a fun next feature for eve today at work (hehe, mind is dual boxing) and it suddenly appeared to my:
TERRAFORMING PLANETS
you can spin that in so many directions, and the best thing is you can make it a small group effort to enhance cooperative gameplay like what incursions did for high sec and sov for null sec, maybe it could be the next best thing for low sec to ??

This drivel just seems to be the way things are in this company. Honestly I have seen nothing from CCP since the heady days of revolution in June that demonstrates they have learned anything about customer service. The numbers on tranquility show a continued decline in players online and the forums continue to rage.
Honestly for me Incarna (which I actually started playing eve for two years ago and have waited for eagerly) has been a complete abject failure. I turned the cq off not cos of lag or performance issues but simply because the whole failure that it represents, it simply adds nothing to gameplay.
Theres no rage anymore, I really wanted CCP to prove me wrong I really wanted them to make me resub because Incarna was going to be awesome, its not is it, its ok I get it now it was all a marketing scam.
What do we get from Fallout when someone complains? sophistry about "summer" and a slap down about someones tone. Yeah great customer service.
So now we have the dissapearing act where the thread is ignored by CCP I call it the CCP Ostrich shuffle.

PAX is next week so give CCP a break for one more week
While most of the news will be dust/ planet related. 1.1 will come out the day after so we will get patch notes maybe Friday after the next mass test. Then we can start complaining again.
This current patch is allot of Gridlocks work. Hopefully 1.2 will be all the BFF work that has been stacking up and everyone will have plenty of time to complain about the ship balanceing as it shows up on Sisi or I could be wrong and they will upload alot of the team BFF stuff next week before the mass test but I doute it. As the new forums are suppost to go offical then and BFF stuff will not be introduced until the new forums are up and usuable for the upcoming discusions

Nice try at communications i suppose... But honestly from the first few lines i saw this was gonna cause people to be upset...
#1 no real info on 1.1 just "watch for the release notes" ... CCP wtf you went from Incursions that had a nice page with the outlined plans that really made people happy that was updated so often... to nothing? WTF in between that you told us we'd be getting more information NOT LESS!
#2 no real out look on timeframe for establishments or what all is being improved on the current CQ.
it honestly seemed like a fluff piece to just say "see we posted a devblog"...
Honestly besides the security blog which wasnt exactly exhilerating, the communication has been just insanely lackluster and depressing...
Where the heck is the incarna goals and line for this year, when we should be getting ready to hear about the winter expansion goals, we're still technically waiting on the Incarna point releases that matter?
The info and movement following incarna 1.0 has been glacial from player perspective.

On the one hand, people are right in that this dev blog has no content, but on the other hand.. well, what the hell do you people want?
I mean, yes, we want results and optional CQ and FIS improvements and all that jazz, but that kind of thing doesn't exactly happen overnight. They have two options: Communicate what they can (which is not much, simply because they don't have much to say) or communicate nothing at all. Considering that we *****ed at them incessantly for better communication, I'm not sure what most of you are asking for.
Okay, this dev blog is content free. What do you want to hear, then? Don't just complain about how obnoxious CCP is, tell them what you'd prefer to be hearing about. If you just want results, well, results take time.

Seriously guys - I too have been less than pleased with CCP's misguided understanding of their EVE player base. With that said though, don't spout curses at them like that and certainly have a little patience as long as the philosophical direction of their designs is correct. Getting all wrapped around the axle about date slips and non-balance details and treating them like this is akin to yelling at a gate agent who has no control over a flight's cancellation or delay due to weather or aircraft mechanical - somethings can't be helped or just don't work out. Deal with it - life isn't perfect.

I agree (on one hand), however, (on the other hand) there's a very good example of telling CCP information they asked for, and how deleterious communication can be when a complete lack of response occurs.
Simply visit the "EVE Online: Incarna 1.0.1 Issues thread".
Started since 1.0.1's first update, CCP seems to have fizzled all communications (long before "holidays/vacations").
Most notable is the irony of a petition I filed (early July) presenting the need to keep to CCP's promise about being more "in communication" with its player base: ESPECIALLY WITHIN CHANNELS CCP DEVs CREATE (for important communication: i.e. ALL "Issues" and "Feedback" threads set up for each #'d versions and upgrades).
CCP Navigator responded to my petition in complete agreement (as he is Lead Community Representative for CCP) and assured me that he would "pass this along to those whom post and monitor their own threads..."
The ironic kicker: CCP Navigator is the author/poster and monitoring CCP DEV of "EVE Online: Incarna 1.0.1 Issues thread". And with posts of detailed, issue-error-documenting substance still being posting for months now, even CCP Navigator (the thread author) still hasn't responded with a single word.
Yes "results take time", but when patches are released, those of us who contribute substance (vs. jabbing one-liners) being asked to post to that same thread (still) about more errors/issues/bugs, yet they receive/see no responsive interaction (especially to questions posted), it's disenchanting.
What people need (not just want) to hear is a sense that their posts matter.
As I explained to CCP Navigator - which he said to me, via petition response, was logical and agreed with this conclusion: The longer you let a thread go without even a simple occasional response, such as, "We appreciate your continual reporting," "We are paying attention to this thread still - please keep your issues coming," or even a simple post stating: "We may not have all the answers yet, but all your posts are relevant, and we appreciate your time"... He agreed that, indeed, the longer there is an "apparent lack of CCP observation or response" will inevitably create a result of disinterest, frustration, and an overall sense of being ignored - which could quite possibly lead relevant posters (of substance, not whining) in feeling an apathetic "why bother posting... CCP doesn't care" thought process.
So yes, results take time, but silence for several months is not helping qwell the natural build-up of frustration while a thread (of relevant information being posted, such as what is mostly found in the still ever-growing "EVE Online: Incarna 1.0.1 Issues thread") which will continue to exist, accumulate, and lead to an apathetic feeling that nothing anyone posts of substance and help to CCP is being read by CCP.
Once CCP loses the few last remaining loyal, substance-oriented posting members of their customer base, they will be losing a good resource: a pool of multiple variations of platforms and device configurations that many in CCP may not have thought to test (or replicate) ...and, without these issue posts, petitions and bug reports, many small, unknowns may spell disaster in the future of this program.
...I do agree, however, a thread like this one here is nowhere nearly relevant in substance or meaning as the continual ISSUES and FEEDBACK threads specific to each new release/upgrade are.

Thanks for the attempt at an update. It's been very hard to know anything is going on really, other than, "ya, 2 people are in the office working on this."
Unfortunately, I have to say that it seems mostly like there's nothing to say, except "wait a week".
And, that's fine, I just wish we had more to speak of, such as the racial CQ's being launched and some update that the price of the NEX store is maybe actually being reviewed to some sense of rationality and not the CCP Monocleopoly philosophy.

I thought CCP had like 9 dev's total working on Eve, and everyone else was pushing out NEX goodies / Dust / WoD. So with only two of those 9 in office, how much can we really expect this patch to contain?
And keeping all that in mind, the contents of this Dev Blog seem pretty suitable. With one guy typing up the blog and the other guy doing all the work? yah, it's not going to be a very exciting patch.

..as far as I'm concerned, thanks for the update ccp.
I'm happy for CCP to spend time on fixing bugs, but that doesn't mean they can't talk a bit about it. Or to just show off a few screen shots of work in progress, anything that demonstrates where the time is going and explains why we can't play it yet.
There have been some really interesting dev blogs in the past about tracking down and fixing strange bugs. Thats good communication. This blog doesn't do that. Its not really about anything other than to give a date for the much delayed 1.1 patch (and its a long delay that was never really explained). The rest of it is just padding, and people are tired of seeing pointless padding to make a very small announcement seem like more than it is.

By your logic, or lake thereof, you'd prefer one "content" devblog a week rather two content devblogs and an extra one.
Besides, if you have a developed reading ability, a big if in your case, you'd have noticed that we get the meaty part of Incarna later this year. Establishments. You know, actual player-interaction Incarna gameplay. Before ramming your face through a wall and crying some more, also note that the main theme of the next expansion will be 0.0.

Well the truth is that you did give us a date in a way, you said we would be getting the other races CQ before the end of the summer. You also said that the Door in CQ will be opening up this winter. Are you guys planning on just giving us the other races CQ this winter, and delaying the Door opening till the next summer? Because to me thats what I think you guys have decided to do. It was kind of point less to release just one race CQ. Its been like nearly 5yrs of this comming and it seems to be delayed more and more. BTW, I do suport you CCP, but you need to keep to the things your devs say in iterviews, or not give your Devs any more interveiws untill you have real dates, other then empty ideals.

I am really glad that post made it on the first page, well said, and it's pretty close to how I feel. Are people suppose to even be excited about the other CQ's? You tell me, can you guys even determine how many people have CQ turned off?
Watching AT IX you keep hearing MT, and devs like CCP Hammer studying other games MT models. What is CQ? It's suppose to be player housing! Did anyone actually look at other MMO's player housing mechanics? A static room is not player housing, it's an instance which is no different then some static interior of a structure in another game. The king of sandbox and you guys give us a static room and expect people to be excited your adding a few more static rooms. I guess those that applaud your efforts are probably still singing your praises over the innovation behind PI. The point, IMO, CQ should have never been released in it's current condition. It looks like you guys had two goals with CQ, get us out of the ship and NEX and at no time no one thought, "is this fun?". Worse part, you actually TOOK functionality away by trashing the ship hanger.
Watching CCP lately is really pretty sad, it's like watching a good friend on a self destructive course. You try to tell him to stop but in the end off the cliff they go anyway. I really hope your other development projects pan out because this one feels like it's sinking.

Thought you had to be patient to play this game. Judging by 99% of the people on this thread, I guess I was wrong. Developing a game is a time consuming process(I know because I'm studying it). Sure, I know walking in stations has been anticipated for a very long time, and I've been waiting for it since 2007 myself, but being nagging brats about it certainly doesn't help.
Oh, and in before "CCP alt". There can't possibly be any players actually supporting CCP, can there?

No, during summer EVE experiences a period of LOW ACTIVITY, so what are you talking about? The vocal ppl don't express their concerns because of summer, but because of you bad track record lately.
It was you ppl that told us the other CQs would be ready by the end of summer, not us. So who failed at planning here? Now you need till winter? Including establishments?
Man, you didn't manage more then 1 CQ in now hat, 7 months dev-time, and now you will do 3+x establishments in 4?
That will be funny to watch. I don't want to bash you personally, but speaking of CCP as a company, you have to show you can manage, because you are not doing good right now.

What people want to know is will the return to Ship spinning be back in and will CQ actually look attractive without melting your Computer because as it is, many people are fed up staring at a picture of a door when the alternative is having something that looks like cutting edge from 2005 causing over heating issues.

Seriously, instead of adding more empty singleplayer rooms, can you fix the game we're trying to play ?
Also, where do we petition for time reimbursement ? Was the biggest waste of time reading a blog since the designer jeans one.
The fact that you think eve players are more active during the summer proves how clueless you are about the game or it's playerbase. Eve has been as dead as it gets(at least pvp wise) in july and august. Maybe some timer forced a fight here and there, but other than that ... you can roam for hours and find **** all. Not that it's your fault that players are on vacation drinking beers on a beach, just pointing out that you have no clue what you're talking about.

Ah, so you will be releasing the remaining captain quarters on August the 31th, as we all know autumn starts on September 1st.
Seriously, you are trying to communicate that before the end of this year you will have released three more captain quarters AND public areas AND establishments AND be ready with a winter expansion handling major issues in zero sec space... With your current track record I have absolutely not faith in that happening and I expect nobody in their right mind inside CCP does too.
How about tone down messaging about all the things you are going to do and instead show a bit of what have been done instead?

Basically that's what I read in the blog....

I aggree, the DevBlog is rather empty regarding content but there IS that one statement making it not completely worthless. And to be honest, I don't really understand some people's attitude towards this: When Incarna was released, people went "OMG, why did you release Minmatar CQ only? Why did you rush it?" - and now they do the exact opposit (i.e. not rushing content just to have it live) and people complain once more. __________ Looking for more thoughts? Because it's not game, it's a hobby, one that many people have invested a large amount of time and money into.
Imagine going to your local golf club and telling the members that their course was going to be bull-dozed and turned into an 18-hole crazy-golf course, complete with windmills, I imagine they would be pretty annoyed about that, and that's what CCP are doing to Eve. ------------------------------------

Any reason you havn't changed the still picture to something more colorful like a picture of station full of ships or a star or anything?
A fair percentage of people find being shown the door rude. Now, whether or not you see that as rude, if you know customers do, have alternatives that don't drastically change creative content (is a door a critical creative content issue.. so critical that its worth irritating customers for?) sticking with something you know they think is rude is sort of a whole other level of rudeness.
I can only hope you think you're being funny, and while players have had good laugh's about the door, its really not the charming "we're with you" sort of laugh. |

Some of CCP's employees would make good politicians, they can spin tomes and say absolutely nothing. I'm not impressed with any of this, CCP wasted at least three years developing Incarna (and the testbed for the macro-transaction infested World of Darkness), and as far as I can tell, the majority of the Eve Community hates it. Is it not obvious that Incarna is purely a mechanism to 'push' players towards spending real money?
CCP repeatedly promises this and that, but never really delivers (at least not like they did in the past). How do they still have any credibility?
My fellow Eve Players, please open your eyes and read between the lines. Eve is not what it once was, and I fear it never will be again. |

LOL - Quoted for (in some great way) the most "truthy" post in all of New Eden the past few months on the forums.
My hat goes off to you good Doctor. I still stand by my earlier post that you "get what you give in life" when it comes to cursing and treating well intentioned Devs in dev blogs...but I hope CCP reads your post and realizes what they have basically "created."
For me still - and I think I am one of the few - EVE is still (and always will be) a game.
I have kids, job, wife and even if I didn't I still just enjoy games for what they are - a game - something you can pickup and leave for ::cough:: SHORT ::cough:: periods of time with friends.
Again - great post I hope CCP (especially HILMAR) and the CSM reads your post and really ponders it.
Cheers

Will I be able to play again? After incarna eve has problems with my gfx and windows has always to restore the crashed driver. The only advice I got was to update the drivers (which were already to the lastet version) and changing some nonsense settings.

Its really sad that this blog hasn't to say anything specific. As much as I appreciated the release of Incarna, it is a drag for me now. You can't do anything more on station than before ... oh, sorry, I forgot the luxury store. Now we read, "it is comming something " ... oh yeah. I can't find anything motivating for now. Please give us more backgrounds what is comming !!

Why CCP das not recognize that CQ is one big failure? Did you make survey to find how many players have turned off CQ? Personaly I dont know single player that left CQ on. CCP have to ask self, why people Play EVEon line. I am certain that is not for that walking in station and CQ is not even that, playng with charaters wardrobe and similar crap. All resources invested in developing this thing, coulded be invested in developing some realy interesting stuffs. First what i can think of is flayng in to planets atmosfere , interacting with structures on surface of celestials objects... Eh yes and when will "spining ship" feture will be bring back, as was promised, i am tired of watching that door.

You're tired of watching a door? Hm, why not turning on CQs then? With it you could see some other things as well - including a spinnig ship. ^^ I always have CQs turned on and heard of others who have as well. I like Incarna so far. It gives EVE much more immersion. But of course CCP should deliver more now, since this whole thing also urgently needs some gameplay wise meaning.

To be honest, I never thought of EVE as a fast developing game. For me it seemed always veeery, veeeeeeery slow in stepping forwards - at least compared to other products. In fact, I would be surprised seeing something 'usefull' before the end of the year. I think, EVE is healthy enough a business to quicken up the pace a bit, but well, that's the decision of CCP. A financially important decision btw, since this is one reason for the breaks players take from EVE. I can always take a step back, cancel my sub for months, and observe the game from afar again. Good deal for me. *shrug* ^^

Edited by: Makari Aeron on 23/08/2011 17:43:35 Kinda disappointed with the lack of what will actually BE in the patch. While it's understandable that devs want some time off, not modeling/skinning 3 additional rooms of (in my unofficial and unprofessional opinion) miniscule proportions in this amount of time is frankly ridiculous. Do you know what the first thing I do upon starting up EVE on a new machine? Turning off CQ. Why do you ask? I can't run more than 1 account with CQ because of the lag. I also find it slower than using the side bars because the character walks so slowly. If there is an option to turn off CQ, I will turn it off every time. If I can't turn it off in the future, I will avoid stations at all costs. The waste of resources is NOT worth it.

Nope, there is no spinning ship as was before, and that is what CCP promised that will bring back. Ability to spin ship in station without that CQ failure.

I'm not too sure if someone already mentioned this (skimmed the last two pages, so I could have missed it)... but in all technicality, to follow their "by the end of the summer promise" they have an additional 3 weeks after August 30th. Summer lasts until the autumnal equinox... This year, that falls on the 23rd of September.
Maybe we should be optimistic and assume that's what they meant? I will, anyways. What's the worst that can happen? They've already disappointed my consistently with the last few "expansions" or whatever they feel like calling them.

I would love to turn on CQ. In fact, I have it on when I play at lunch at work. At home though, turning on CQ will often push ExeFile.exe's memory usage to the Windows limit for user-space processes of 2GB, so Eve cannot allocate memory, so it crashes. |

Sorry Martin but you try to find an excuse. Summer ends when September starts. That is September 1.
I don't care about ancient or religious or whatever else Summer end time. Oh and no I don't want to know when Galactic Summer ends since by then even the ash of my bones will be long gone. Common sense Summer ends September 1. That is in less then two weeks.

An analysis of the information provided in the latest devblog
Summer and incarna 1.1 reported by CCP Fallout | 2011.08.19 11:15:28 | NEW | Comments
During the summer months, EVE Online players become anxious for more news and information about their favorite game.
More like during PR crapstorms that are barely given lipservice, followed by no updates and certainly no positive action in game.
Vacation time, for the average capsuleer, is EVE time. Capsuleers rarely take time off from flying around in space, pulling the latest, greatest, ever-larger scams, or engaging in massive fleet battles that make CCP Veritas salivate with glee.
Actually people DO take time off. Especially when waiting for CCP to fix things introduced with Incarna
But what is going on at CCP when so many are on holiday? Does everything stop while holidays and return trips home occur? Does further development for EVE take a back seat to tanning oil and proper English breakfasts? Not at all! Even though many of my co-workers are on holidays, work towards improving the game and fighting the war on lag continues.
This is a time that we will watch what you do and not what you say. Not that you are actually saying anything anyway.
Now that you are better familiar with how work progresses on EVE Online during the summer months,
No, not really.
It's time to talk about EVE Online: Incarna, and its future.
Finally we get down to the actual content
A number of players have been asking me, both on the forums and on Twitter when the remainder of the Captain's Quarters will be released. Since the release of Incarna, we have continued to iterate and improve the Minmatar CQ while pushing forward with the development of the remaining racial quarters, as well as working apace on establishments.
Incarna 1.1 will see the results of our progress on improving the existing CQ,
An iteration of 1, that we haven't even seen yet. How about some actual improvement to the game? Fixing the atrociously unresponsive UI would be a good start but that's just my issue. There have been FAR FAR more questions about content that matters than there have been regarding the ability to stand around in different rooms all by yourself.
...later this year we plan on deploying the remaining racial quarters to Tranquility as well as the next Incarna feature, establishments.
When do you plan to re-implement the station hanger, a responsive UI, introduce the ship rebalances you claim to be working on and also announce proper details regarding changes that are coming to 0.0?
Finally, thanks for showing us the door yet again ~~~

Edited by: Jade Greenfire on 25/08/2011 00:07:50 Edited by: Jade Greenfire on 25/08/2011 00:04:26 Lets face it, while we appreciate the hard work that has gone into Incarna, CQ is simply pure eye candy, nothing more. At this point, it only serves to frustrate players who were better served by the original station layout and fuctionality. CQ has zero impact on actual game play, hence why allot of people just disable it outright. The introduction of establishments whilst maybe nice is still NOT what we need or want right now. What we seriously need from CCP is: A information update on ship rebalances (ie to dreads and supers), plus details regarding changes to 0.0 (missions/plexing and sov)and a approximate date or timming of when they will happen (supposedly in this winters expansion, althought I believe Hilmar said the 0.0 changes are not scheduled until 2014?). CCP needs to understand that players, corps and alliances in 0.0 have become kinda stuck to a significant degree, not wanting to risk too much until the above details are revealed as it will have a SIGNIFICANT impact on players, corps and alliances & their ability to enjoy the game, over all. Hence alot of people are frustrated due to the lack of any real information & are now, playing other games while we continue to have to wait months.

I agree in general. However unlike you I am expecting Incarna and establishments to be the next deployment. CQ is realy just the first step, which is fine to me because CCP has announced that it will be released step by step. But the big issue i have: these steps are slower than the human kind learned to walk upright. We get an expansion over 3-4 deployments where there's like almost two month between the patches and more badly - almost none to zero effects on game play.

May I ask, why is there a COMMENT "button" for such useless devblogs like this, when NO CCP guy will respond to the community comments? All what they do is trolling the community and cry, when nearly no one is sadisfied with the product EVE online. We have the right to be NOT sadisfied with your game, because it is evolving into a way, that most player / customer dont like. DO what your paying customer base want and NOT, what you think they would maybe, eventually or perhaps like. As long as you do what only you want (OK its your game, and you are the developer), it IS our right to comment in a way you DONT like (We are the payer).
BTW... Ship spinning.. is this problem topically, or was it only a trying to tease the community and to delay the problem to a time, where barely one will remember to this, because YOU did another sh!t that would be much more important to solve?
Any answers?

They are doing the tactical approach to delay it until all the most passionate users have unsubbed so hardly any rage will occur at that stage.

My wish list for the upcoming patch....which I know is most likely not included
Un-nerf highsec. Bring back the content you took out to please large 0.0 alliances.....namely asteroids, bounties, faction item drop, loot, faction ship bpcs, lvl 5 missions, and others - you know what you have taken out. Many high sp carebears are getting bored with the current static content and stats show there is NO mass migration to nullsec. Noctis, now THAT was a GREAT idea. See, you can do it!
More solo content, in other words INCREASE content for the solo player and small corp. Like some have so succintly put it, large team play is almost exclusively for nullsec. Blobs anyone?
Un-nerf minnie ships......bring back the speed!! Many of us have maxed out navigation skills and what do we do with them? Nothing.
Fix nullsec so that it is not owned by 3 or 4 large alliances. Don't you see that is the reason so few players want to move there and is mostly empty? NBSI sucks. I know, I know, CCP says you want it go get it but in reality it does not work that way. Rumor sums it up with one word: bot farms, huge bot farms. Two words really, three if you like. Are the rumors mistaken?
Either make Incarna interesting or allow us players that don't care for it to have a hangar view only where we can do ship carrousel to our hearts content, change ships, load ammo, interact with agents, play the market, and not have to stare at a door. If not, at least make it so that the light on the door does not shine on one's face all the time, it is really annoying.
Stop with the apparel line (what's next Jovian lingerie?) and increase content, like introduce into the game the ships that have won design a ship contests?
Who knows, I might be proven wrong

Also, to repeat a thing from earlier in big letters, THIS WILL ALL TAKE A LONG-ASS TIME TO HAPPEN. Some of it will be changed or dropped before it ever gets implemented. Some of it will never happen. This is a roadmap, not a production schedule.
Guess we will be left stuck until CCP finally decide to rebalance supers and give us some sort of firm idea of when they will be looking introducing 0.0 changes. FYI those changes should include better incentives for people to move from high sec to 0.0.

Cheers

Don't all rush towards them, they are as good as the Dev Blog.

I think this demonstrates the central issue with what is wrong with EVE. Some people (I dare say most) see EVE as a hobby and some see it as a game. I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with either viewpoint as to what EVE is, however, I will say that there is a problem if one of those view points are adopted to the games development process. If the creative producer takes the view point of EVE is just a game, the the hobbyist will suffer as described by Doctor Mabuse here. However, if they come at game development from the "it's a hobby" approach, then the learning curve starts to become a cliff and "Gamers" will get board with it because it requires too much commitment to justify playing and putting it down like all the other games they play.
I think CCP needs to pick a side to this issue and stick with it. IMHO

It seems very odd that the belated new forums and equally belated new api key system weren't mentioned at all in the blog. Even stranger given that there is nothing notable in the patch notes concerning CQ.
I am actually surprised at how little seems to be happening with CQ in this patch, I was expecting it to be mostly CQ bug fixes.

Exactly my point. I actually don't envy CCP's (or the "players") position. I just want them to realise if you want it to be a hobby people will be ****ed with sub-par changes, slow to change, retractions, etc. If you treat it as a game some people will get ****ed for other reasons, but overall, I think expectations will be more "realistic."
I digress, it just reminds me of the old saying, "Jack of all trades, King of none." or "You can't please everybody all the time."
Ultimately since it started as a game maybe it should stay that way? I don't know. At least that way hobbyist AND gamers can log on and have fun watching roids glow, blowing ships up, or exploring easier and without a HUGE investment it cash and time. But what do I know. EVE has sort of evolved into this huge thing that is WAY MORE than a game. Again - I don't know.
I respect that CCP seems like they want to do both - truly I do - but I think they are forcing a little too much hobbyist into EVE for us gamers. Suggestions like battle arenas and removing learning skills fall into the hated category of hobbyists - prime example. I ask what is wrong with that though? Some people just want to have fun (not WOW fun, just EVE fun).
I challenge CCP (and the CSM - thank you for posting :P) that if they want to have their cake and eat it too - maybe split EVE do something that allows the casual player to just play. Maybe a flat fee to play internet spaceships or into two servers with one being just gaming for a fee? The hardcore people - let them keep the Nex shop, huge powerbloc alliances, and all that goodness. My other .02 isk.

carbon io for clientside put off till "later date", no new CQ, no word of establishments, no word of any real improvements or noteable features i mean honestly half of the patch notes are evegate which are NOT client side patch updates.... WTF

Just wanted to express my admiration at CCP trailing the removal of station session timers in front of us then snatching it away at the last minute. Once again: we were trolled by the masters as they remove the one genuinely worthwhile element of this patch.

I think this whole "patch" is a form of metatrolling by CCP devnerds and we have just been trolled...
Arguably my opinions represent to an extent the opinions of my alliance and in particular circumstances give rise to a valid "casus belli" claim. |

They did. Reread the patch notes.
Although my guess is that load times for Incarna went up high enough to substitute an artificial timer ;-) (which, in all honesty, makes a lot more sense than artificial wait times with nothing happening)

I don't think I've seen an expansion with literally so little in it. This isn't forum wars or shouldn't be so why have we wasted another 8 months on it?
With so much unfinished or broken in game why are we seemingly wasting so much time and effort on stuff like a forum revamp.
This isn't a game update in any sense of the word. You've become almost as bad as SOE was during the NGE rollout for SWG, concentrating on the unimportant rather than the things which matter most.

Yeah; his was not the sort of comment I would make towards CCP; I can fully empathize with his sense of disappointment, though, as I'm sharing it. I had really hoped for other races' Captain's Quarters by now. :(
In a way I can't blame you guys, though: between one group yelling you're going way too fast, vs. another one calling you names for not deploying fast enough, I guess it's hard to find an equitable win-win spot.

Originally by: Hakuja CCP, please remember that, for a lot of players/customers, basically,
EVE IS A GAME ABOUT SPACESHIPS
EVE is more than a game about spaceships. There are have been people that play without undocking for ages. They manipulate markets, build the ships you fly, etc. Incarna is about upping the immersion factor of EVE to make it the complete SciFi game. Its an ambitious aim and CCP are going to stumble along the way.
It looks as though this is a patch that does things behind the scenes, in particular it looks as though CCP are addressing some of the performance issues with CQ. This is a good thing. It would be pretty bad if they introduced new Incarna content without making it better.

So what exactly in this patch accomplishes anything you suggest?
New Forums....nope New Eve Gate crap....nope (honestly none of my friends have used that wall in months its practically useless). Changes to the API....nope....just a way for them to shut down 3rd party apps eventually
So basically nothing in this patch in any way improves gameplay, nothing, not one thing....
The few optimization changes could of been hot patched....

I understand what you mean. You are right, EVE is not so simple. It has been always a different and deep game, full of possibilities, at least until now. I just mean that, in my opinion, there are many things to fix before the immersive(?) experiences of CQ and NEX. The word is: "gameplay".
