Right, here's my issue, working in 0.0 space with the natural traffic you find out there, and 90% of it being made up of minmatar ships, and a lot of those being dramiels and Cynabals, so I need a ship that can beat down the latter (already designed an anti frigate brutix) so here is my proposal:
using heavy webber drones on a megathron that has been geared up with tracking enhancers rather than damage mods (got enough hp and damage to smack anything smaller already) the question is this: will the webber drones slow a cynabal enough for my megathron to latch onto them and hold them down with it's own webber?

No. The first problem is that your webbed drones need to catch the Cynabal in the first place. Second, they're not all that strong. The Cynabal will still be far faster than you, even with the webber drones.
You really need a good inty pilot with a scram, or one of the Minnie/Gallente recons, or cause the Cynabal pilot to make a really bad move.
Heavy neuts, however, may ruin a Cynabal's day.

I'm relying on my target making mistakes really, which tends to happen a lot.. hmm.. i'll find a friend with one and do a few test runs, but generally they tend to warp on me at gates so if i can lock and drop the drones instantly i can drop their speed to lower than mine with mwd on.

The best combo I found for dealing with Cynabals was a prot and loki, Loki loaded with skirmish warfare links running and teh prot running with the sub that boosts the range on your warp scram combine this with overload you can get close to 24km scram and 18km webs.
However I have only used this in lo sec

Edited by: Jacob Holland on 19/08/2011 16:17:45 I've seen good things written about the Ashimmu for this. It's a brick of course but with two overloaded Fed Navy webs their speed drops well below yours if they get within 18ish km.
If they're clever they're going to kite you of course but if they keep coming to you thinking that they can coast into jump range then they'll get a nasty shock... Especially as it won't shut off their MWD so their sig is still bloomed to the point that a sieged dread could hit them
Coupled with another ship for extra damage, perhaps (between fights) remote repage and ideally an Interdiction Manoeuvres Warfare Link and you could be giving then a lot of very quick rides home.
The Vigilant could presumably perform the same role... or you could bait them in with a PvEing Kronos --

Really?
Duel web drake, scram cane, due. rep SFI, brutix, shield kite vigilant with fed navy web....honestly anything that can tank it, dont worry about catching it...just fuk with him using gates and warping about at ranges and stuff.
Your just trying to hard, if he wants to fight he will stick around...if he doesent stick around and your chasing him you will die. Let his impatience and piloting being his fate.

one of the things that make the cynabal a PITA to tackle is the fact that 425's + barrage = 40km+ sphere where you can damage most lightly tanked frigates (inties). adding the agility the damn thing has, a good cynabal pilot will manage to GTFO when stuff starts to go **** up. ---

Faction large neut +/-28km, you're funky dram is out before he can even do whatever. Has for your cynabal, at this distance the average cynabal will either warp out or be killed because he's too stupid but I wouldn't count on that, just pin it and rush it after your first neut cycle (he will not be able to use he's pro very long) and use ecm vespas since you have the place for them.
Profit
Also: use gate sentry's to help you get the crap out of it or just bring some friends

Webber drones are fairly sucktastic because they are based on the larger (slower) heavy drone.
A rapier/Huginn might do the trick of slowing the cynabal down, but might lack the dps/tank to finish the job. Not sure about that one. This signature space for rent |

Any duo of recons should be able to take down a cyna. Though it would be tough to convince a loan cyna to stick around vs a huggin and a curse, etc.

After years people still haven't figured out how to catch nanos, because they rather fit sensor boosters in their mids and salvagers in their highs. |

When flying my non-cookie-cutter fit cynabal, Gangs are no issue. Bringing friends potentially means the cynabal just has more targets to rip into. Huginns and rapiers are two recons which will make a cynabal warp off faster than you can lock him. An arazu or lachesis is generally no worry to a cynabal that will just keep out of scram range. A curse would seriously hurt a cynabal, but as to whether the curse would be able to get into range is a different question altogether, although I Doubt it would. Falcons and Rooks, like huginns and rapiers will just make the cynabal bolt. No one want's to fight a gang that isn't looking for fights, but is looking for ganks.
ECM = ****ty. If you have ECM, You definately aren't looking for fight. ECM is pathetic. Don't use it . |

Thats why the falcon can cloak. Once you commit to the fight and the falcon decloaks, its to late.
besides you ever think that people in smaller gangs that can get killed by the cynabal think the same thing? That the cynabal isnt looking for a fight, just ganking? If I see a cynabal and I am in a frig, I would be sure to have friends with a falcon and tackle on the way.
I want that cynabal dead, I don't care about no fight. I WANT IT DEAD.
inafter because of falcon, inb4 fit eccm if you're so scared of it.

falcons make cynabals run, unless the cyna gets super lucky and survives a 20 seconds ecm free window, then he may attempt to pop the falcon before bailing and or killing it and everyone/anything else till the cyna is jammed.
If you want to use ecm while trying to get a cynabal, make sure its after its tackled down, reveal it too soon and you just ruined the attempt for the gang.

Of course, but once its tackled the falcon will ensure no friendly losses, especially of the fragile tackle frigs.
An arbitraitor could do the same thing w/ turret disruption, and it can bring some DPS. So, the ships can vary, but the end result would be the death of the nano crusier. (Have had similar problems with the vagabond)

The problem with the Curse is that any half-competent Cynabal pilot will say "sod this for a game of soldiers" and warp off. Unless the Curse pilot is a total moron you can't win - no need for faction/heavy neuts either, mediums and tracks will screw a Cynabal senseless. Curse is the perfect counter to the Cynabal.
Falcon/Rook are likewise not great targets for a Cynabal. Minnie/Angel sensor strength sucks.
You need to come up with a "fishing" setup - nice attractive target for a Cynabal that doesn't do what it appears to. Let the Cynabal come to you rather than the other way around.

Many ships can destroy a Cynabal. Unfortunately, many ships cant catch a Cynabal. I don't really think about it, but most ships I fly are able to take a Cynabal whether I catch it or it stays and let's itself explode is another matter. Don't worry about it. Running away doesn't explode ships and I pvp to explode ships. Just keep on engaging them until you catch one or get lucky in some other way and explode one. Although I made this for exploding nano ships and engaging in warp-scrambler range. Haven't used this much (8 engagements), but I've also used a armor-Vexor Navy Issue, which is setup almost the same. Exploded 3 or so Nano-Hurricanes with it. Get close, tracking becomes a problem = ab etc (reduces incoming damage if any at all). You're also able to leave scram range against most cruiser, battlecruiser and battleship setups. Although neuting is still a problem. You're still able to keep that ab and scam going against dual neuts of a cane for the most part. Some of my peeps have suggest I go dual small nos, but not to sure (frigs).

The Cynabal is 1 of the few remaining ships you can fly into a hostile system and have at least 50% chance of killing a target and then leaving. It is so popular because bubbles and recons have made it so hard to get anything else through heavily camped areas.
The cynabal is not perfect though. It is caps unstable. And A competent recon will prevent it doing anything but running away. A loki or proteus are good at killing them if they get in range. But honestly One day you will be looking for a ship that you can use to gorilla war in and you will find yourself left with little else but the cynabal.
