Edited by: Rek Jaiga on 20/08/2011 18:35:32 It has recently come to the attention of the capsuleer community at large (via the comms channel "The Summit") that a particularly cruel pilot has failed in her duties as a Holder (at least, she claims to have Holder status), and more importantly as a human being.
This pilot is Alizabeth Vea of TCMC Trade and Logistics Inc. During a heated verbal exchange on The Summit comms channel she opened a videofeed and proceeded to execute a slave in a most cruel fashion (which shall not be descriped here in the public for sake of sensitivity). After executing the slave, she claimed that's she's "not to be ****ed with".
We here at Crimson Path believe that regardless of political affiliations any decent human being will agree that these actions were cruel and unneeded. To be certain, such things probably happen behind closed doors all the time. But to do so on a public comms channel which caters to all capsuleers (some of which are under the age of eighteen; children!) and expect no consequences is foolhardy on the part of Vea.
In addition to Ms. Vea's personal actions, her corporation deals in the trade of trans-cranial micro-controllers (TCMCs), which are an affront to any respectable Holder seeking to enlighten those bound to them. Of course it goes without saying that the anti-slavery freedom fighter will also find the use of TCMCs to be unethical as well.
We cannot allow such depraved pilots to continue business as usual. In approximately thirteen hours votes will close within Crimson Path's membership for a formal war declaration against TCMC Trade and Logistics Inc. The vote will certainly pass.
I invite any who are against the heretical and cruel abuse of slaves to join me in bringing justice to these psychopaths by declaring war against TCMC Trade and Logistics. Regardless of your affiliations, you will be welcomed into the temporary taskforce if you wish to bring earthly judgement upon Vea and her cabal.
We honestly do not expdct Alizabeth to have the stones to confront even a single one of us directly in honorable combat, much less heed our words. But we will not relent on this matter.

As an individual raised in the Gallente Federation, notably by parents who were active in the political climate promoting freedom throughout New Eden; it disheartens me every time I hear about slavery, especially those who treat their wards cruelly. As an Autarchist, the very concept of slavery is anathema. However, I do respect those who hold slaves that treat them with dignity and respect in the intention of raising their station; however, myself and others interested in my way of life would be remiss to allow it to continue if the practice could be ended.
The needless death of this slave is also upsetting and I would admonish Ms. Vea to see her slaves less as property and kine and more as unique individuals who deserve to be afforded respect due to all humans, whether they be capsuleeers or baseliners. I am just one man, and I have no formal affiliations beyond those who would call themselves allies of the ideals of the Freespace Cooperative; but I will lend whatever moral and if need be financial support I can to this endeavor. Perhaps Miss Vea can be reasoned with and war can be averted so we can focus our attentions on more pressing matters; though withe pride I have seen born by some, it may be unlikely.

Rek Jaiga, the Advent formally offers a hand in the hunt of this individual and her corporation. The abuse of her subordinates is illogical and the public display is little more than a testament to her perversion.
All I can spare from the Advent's resources is myself unfortunately but I hope I can assist nonetheless. Show me the enemy and I shall assist you in this battle.
I look forward to a favorable response.

As Always Rek, you have my support. While I am not opposed to the use of TCMCs, I do think it is the duty of anyone who has power over another, to ensure that they live purposeful lives, pursuant to this that means taking care of them, so that they can live such lives. Ms. Vea has clearly spit in the face of this ideal.
Not only that, she considers herself a miltia pilot taking isk from the empire for her nefarious purposes. This is also something, hard to stand for. UCIV is holding a vote as we speak on the matter, and as I am the only voting member, we already know what the result will be.

Interesting. Rather than the usual baseless acqusations against Holders being cruel to their livestock, this one has some basis in fact.
I dare say though your efforts will be wasted. TCMC Trade and Logistics will continue to function as an arm of the Militia. The Holder Vea and her associates will continue to treat their livestock as they wish. And the trade in trans-cranial micro-controllers will most likely increase now that you have brought them to light.
And if they do not choose to fight you? Who can blame them, why dirty their hands.
There is a reason for all madness.

It was an explicit incident of murder and abuse. This is not based in fact, but is fact.

If they seek to profit in TCMC sales (or much less do anything in space), then they must undock to transport such products. When they do, we'll be there.

Generally speaking? I agree.
I've voiced an odd viewpoint to a select few, and I suppose I'll say it here too. I split hairs on the terms "slavery" and "servitude". I think it much stronger and more meaningful if a person willingly steps into the light of God. I would call such a person a servant. Though I was born into it, in retrospect I consider myself to have been a servant to my Holder rather than a slave.
A slave, on the other hand, has no real interest in learning about God and The Scriptures and has been forcibly taken to be taught. I think this is a very weak approach to bringing the cluster into the fold, as doing such things actually attaches a negative image to the Amarr faith overall.
That our Empress has made decrees to free all ninth-generation slaves and has made statements in regards to the era of slavery coming to an end is testament to the Empire's realization of how powerful willingness is when it comes to faith. Indeed, the crown is most merciful!

I must say Rek, your vewipoint on "slavery" and "servitude" mirrors my own. Most of my Holders slaves are actually servants and loyal to the Khanid, though from beyond the borders of our Empire the distinction is blurred by fanaticism.
I may not agree with unbridled ferocity and hostility towards Alizabeth Vea, but as I have seen footage of the prior event, I am surprised that more have not stepped up.
Mayhaps I'm getting old, but such a display has shown again that not all Holders are the same. And the old collar does get tight as I know personally several of Vea's slaves.....
There is a reason for all madness.

As long as the slave was hers, what was wrong with killing it? It's her property, afterall. I kill mine all the time. When one is too sick, old, or injured to work, I just put a bolt in its head like you would a beef and then I sell it to the Quafe people.

Dirtbag
She didn't own the girl legally. And even if she did, it was an unethical action to say the very least.
As for you, when a slave is too sick or old or injured you're supposed to take care of them. That's the point. As I said above, I do not agree with taking someone against their will because such a course of action is weaker in spirit than them agreeing to come into the fold. But if you're going to do enslave someone, at least be ethical in how you treat them.
Remember, these are human beings we're talking about. At the end of this life you must answer to God for your actions, be they compassionate or cruel.

To the end of their spiritual enlightenment, or at the least of being a good human being. It is your duty, assuming you are indeed a Holder.

First of all, the only thing separating you from oblivion is an over worked, underpaid and likely hung over lab technician.... Amarrians must live by God's teachings or be judged by God. Hello? I'm not even Amarrian and I know this. Just because you are the people of God doesn't mean you get a 'Get to Heaven free' card. And I don't think I need to really address the third issue, I suppose you were not blessed with a formal education..

I can not believe that the general Amarr Holder treats their "property" with such disregard. Some do though, and they need to be given another option.
I propose that any people, regardless of their status in the Holders eyes, be contracted to me. I will see that they are cared for if ill, retrained if they want, repatriated home - if that is their wish, just to see that they come to no further harm.
Since I am doing this at my own expense, the contracts should be at no cost, since you are disposing of unwanted "property" anyway.
Please be sure to sign your Ownership Papers so the transfer will be legal and you will have no claim once the transfer is done.

If memory serves me correctly, she broadcast the action over live feed in the Summit channel a couple of nights ago. That seems to be what incensed most of the persons involved into directly acting against her. Maybe a Moderator or one of the onlookers at the time could post a video or audio recording of the incident? ~~~~~~~~~~~
