I've got a 23 minutes FRAPS of a planet for a project of mine. It's meant to be played at a very fast speed (20x ballpark). Problem is, the planet is dancing around making an "8" figure all over. I want the planet to stay put.
How can I do that? I know I _can_ get it done frame by frame... but come on... 23 minutes @ 60 FPS is 82,800 frames so frack that.
There must be a way, a tool/software for that? How would the "pros" do it?

I had the same problem when I was trying to make a similarly done intro. I tried to solve it by fixing the movement frame by frame for a few "cycles" of the rotation, and copy-pasting it to the rest, but I went crazy trying to get it right and every time I applied it to the rest of the footage, any tiny error became increasingly worse.
So i guess I have nothing helpful to add heh, just echoing your situation. You'd think there would be some way to fix it though, either in-game or with software.

After Effects can do this quite easily with a plugin, maybe even stock. Though of course there is the potential 'issue' of obtaining After Effects ;)
this may be more in depth than you need, but it should get you on the right track.
I do have to say though, a simple Google search should have got you this info ;) |

I've got After Effect CS5 trial. That does not seam work as intended :(
The tracking "point" moves along the rotation of the planet, slowing dragging it away into the shadow until AE can't track it no more.
I'm trying to "track" the planet itself, the whole circular area, not just a point on it.
Im raging at the google right now 'cause it's not providing anything useful. It's quick as hell finding useless blog posts talking about vaguely related crap back to CS3 days, tho.
Can you help? pls ty ty

track the stars, or do multiple tracks of the planet with multiple track points.
