I've been searching for a W-system to set up a pos in and live in for just under 2 weeks now, scanning out around 10 systems a day, chaining through WHs only to find a dead end, looking for that unoccupied system with a low class static and the right planet mix. So how often do people come across these ideal systems for pos deployment? Sure, its easy to find an unoccupied WH with bad statics and terrible planets, but how many W-systems with good conditions are left to occupy? |

1. Choose a class you want to move into. 2. Find a system with a static to that class. 3. Scan the static daily until you find a system you like.

I hesitate to say because I know I was extremely lucky. I am a relatively new player (under 10 mil SP) and gellente (not the best for wormholes) so I wanted to find a nice C1 to setup in and try out WH life. I figured it would take forever but I got lucky on my second system once I started actually looking. It may not be ideal but so far I'm happy. It has a low sec static, which makes for more challenging. But also makes the system quieter. When I dint activate my static I go fir upwards of a week without any visitors.
Gl finding one. Although the alternative is just to watch the sell forum. Depending on your needs it may be easier to find someone selling one that they found.

forgive my ignorance but while i can understand the need for good planets why you need static? P.S. And gl with search, will take awhile. ---- Drones eat everything. Trust me. |

Because the local sigs will run out quick if there are a few active people at his pos.

Because negonesec is the real eve end game unlike null which spawns you constant havens and sanctums, in negonesec you must look elsewhere for more sites as they do not respawn.

I don't know where you're from but I'll assume you know something about American history. In the 1800's our country was expanding westward. To entice people to move away from civilization and bring it to such a harsh environment such as the American west, the government gave away 100 acre plots. All the people had to do was live there for 5 years to acquire their ownership free and clear.
As time went on the west became civilized. Communities sprang. Eventually, there wasn't any room left to give away except for the most inhospitable of places which is where we put all of the Native Americans so they could build casinos 100 years later because we'd given away all of their good land to ourselves.
My friend, this is basically the situation of w-space. All the desirable locations of mostly taken. I recently put up a POS in a less than ideal WH because I spent 3 weeks of dedicated searching. Dedicated meaning, I would log in, I would probe out WH's for hours, I would log out. I did this everyday for 3 weeks and I decided on a less than ideal WH. So, you're pretty much in the same boat that I was.
Suggestion: Find a hole that doesn't link directly to K-space but, that links to a class of hole that has a high probability that it will static to k-space/highsec.
Other options: Cohabbing with friends. Merging into a corp already in w-space...of which I would be happy to talk to you if you're interested in merging.

I assume if you see a POS on scan you look elsewhere? Be aware there are alot of abandoned POSes in w-space. You may want to actually check the POS out and see if its active before deciding you got an unsuitable WS.
Also as far as POS fuel is concerned, the PI items are small compared to the ice products. So even if you cannot make all you need, its little consequence. Its easy to haul in what you need.

Edited by: Cipher Jones on 22/08/2011 16:25:14 If you scan for wormholes in hisec you will find only statics to hi and X702's. I only get an X702 a couple times a month if that.
There are tons of empty wormholes out there, you just have to know what you're looking for before you start looking. I've thrown away several this year. |

And Z971 (C1), and R943 (C2), and M555 (C5), and probably even something to C4 or C6, though I've never happened onto one of those. Not nearly as common as the K162 sides of the statics in the C1-C3, but they do appear.

This is the easiest way I know of. Stay in the system with the target static. Scan a new system once a day.
I think the longest it took us to find a new home was about a week (about 7 wormholes).

You should join the BITIN channel and contact narwhals if you find a particular system that is very appealing to you that is inhabited.
We specialize in wormhole merc op's and can do corp evictions, POS defenses, logistics or whatever else you may need in order to achieve your goals.

Uninhabited wormholes, especially good ones, are getting harder to come by. Your best bet might be to find one of the many threads in the sell orders forum where people are selling their old WH as they move to a new one.

I think xen has this matter pretty well covered.
1. It is unusual to find attractive w-space systems that are not already occupied. It does happen, my last C4 being an example, but it's not something I'd be wanting to rely on.
2. There are regularly people offering to sell their w-space systems ... either ones they've found and are camping, or ones they no longer want / need. There is potential for scamming or other evil-doing here but I have undertaken both buying and selling and on each occasion it has proceeded very nicely.
3. It is also possible to find an attractive occupied system and 'evict' the current residents. This is rarely quick, can be expensive, and may also lead to them later mustering forces to hassle or evict you.

You'd be surprised how many POSes in WH are manned by people who can't mount a good defense, i.e. most of them.
1. Set up POS when inhabitants are offline 2. Build dreadnought 3. Destroy POS 4. ??? 5. Your WH now |

step 2.5. wait 12-19 days to build dread. hope that during that time they don't group and defend and/or hire someone to do it for them.

Is this what we're calling it now? Negonesec? No. It's TRUSEC, if not WH space or w-space... "Many of man's greatest achievements were largely inspired by a woman." - HF |

Haha Negonesec, freakin hilarious.
Anyway there are a lot of corps that do WH POS removal, im sure you can hire one of those companies to remove a POS in a WH you like.

I advice you to display Force Fields in your overview, like this you'll get then also on scan.
If amount of FF is smaller than number of control towers, mean one or some are offline !

Also add corp hangers and ship maint array. It's a nice find when you realize that the tower is offline but it still has a hanger and/or ship maint array. Then again, it could be a trap.
