The first time that I met my father, he offered to help free me from the Cartel. A girl that he had never seen before, and he was willing to risk all to help me. Through the intervening months he would guide me, helping me to regain my faith. And when the day came that I was freed, he was there for me and adopted me as his own daughter. What stands out about this is he would do this for anyone. My father was a good man and impacted the lives of everyone he met for the better. He will be missed.
Once I am able to talk with my mother, I will let the cluster know about the funeral.
If I could say one final thing to him it would be that I am sorrie.

Raze was a good man, and an ally, perhaps even a friend. Our opinions did not always match, but I believe we shared a mutual respect. He will be sorely missed.
Let me know if there is anything I can do to aid his house in these troublesome times.

I am sure that many people would like to know what has happened to Raze.
Perhaps Miss Valadeus could relate the story here?

I didn't know Mr. Valadeus personally, but I followed him on the Summit. He was a great man, and I think if more men showed the same conviction to their cause as he did, New Eden would be a much better place. My greatest regret is that I never met him in person. In times such as these, faithfulness of the caliber he displayed is to be greatly admired, even if you did not agree with him and his cause. He will be sorely missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Raze Valadeus was my spiritual brother. His wife came to be a very close friend of mine, and both were wonderful people.
For those not aware, Lord and Lady Valadeus died in a tragic shuttle explosion that killed them both. Neither of them kept a soft clone, for religious reasons, and as they died out of the pod, there was no way to save them.
An investigation into the shuttle explosion is currently ongoing, and details will be released of the findings, towards the greater capsuleer community.
Those who knew Raze, knew that the one thing he valued above anything short of his faith, was peace. He was a peacemaker in the same vein as Heideran VII, and as great a philanthropist as Doriam II. The cluster has lost one of its shining lights today.
He would want us to pursue peace, and righteous living.
I am going to miss him.
Salve, Brother, may you go with God.

I barely knew Mr. and Mrs. Valadeus. I spoke with them... infrequently, much to my current regret. From what I saw of them, they impressed me with their passion and kindness. I am blessed to have had my last words with both of them be ones of friendship. I respected them, and they knew it.
For the first time, I find myself looking at my 'immortal' brethren only in memory. I realize... maybe I don't have eternity to get to know my brothers and sisters of the capsule. Life is precious still... even among us.
I imagine they have found themselves in a better place now, free from the blight of war that stains our lives.
I wish... I had said more. I wish I had spoken up more, enjoyed more of their presence, learned more about them. I will always regret not doing so, despite what few good moments I had with them.
Uaaka, Valadeus-suuolo. May the Ancestors guide you on...

It was Raze Valadeus that inspired me to reject my previous life as an outlaw and heretic. He showed me, through strong conviction and example, the potential the Empire has for peace and compassion in the cluster. He also showed me how warm and enlightening the Amarr faith is. I have him to thank for my current path today; though I chose to walk through it, it was he who showed me the figurative door. I wouldn't be alive as I am now if it weren't for him. May God grant him honor and peace.
Victoria Valadeus was an incredibly kind woman. She cared deeply for everyone, ignoring social status in favor of respecting each individual as another soul journeying back to God. She showed wisdom and strength, even when under great stress. She was a most merciful soul. Peace be upon her.
I pray the current Lady Valadeus, heir to the house, lead and live with the same wisdom and conviction of her parents. To you, Lady Valadeus, I offer assistance and guidance in whatever forms I can offer them, if you'll have it.

A quick clarification note, Rek. Sapphire may or may not be heir to the house. As she is adopted, she would need to be named Heir by raze specifically, which may be in his will. It is unlikely that she would be able to maintain a full holder title in any case, as while she is faithful, she is very new to the faith.

Edited by: James Syagrius on 22/08/2011 00:49:52 It is difficult to know what to say when someone dies. I think it best to simply put voice to ones feelings. When I first took to the sky Raze was one of the first people I met. We and others were very green, and for a short time I like to think we were friends.
Yes he could be pompous and yes, he had an overrated opinion of his place in the universe, but so do we all.
Despite all of ourą issues, I was pleased to hear when he returned to the heavens with his wife in tow.
While we only spoke infrequently, as the spheres of our lives had grown very distant. It made me happy to see him living well, and making a positive difference.
The universe will be more lonely without you.
Good bye Raze.

I rarely eulogize death, as it surrounds me and my profession every single day.
But I'll take a moment for these two. They were a cute couple, and I always felt relaxed around them, smiling whenever they entered a conversation. They had a rare ability to put people from other cultures or races at ease and talk civilly about very sensitive subjects, a skill which the universe could use more than ever these days. I'll miss Raze and Victoria, and regret not having the chance to get to know them better.
Depending on the location and time of the funeral, I'll try and see if either myself or one of my other sisters can represent my family. Our condolences.

To my regret I only had come to get to know them both recently.
Raze came across to me a man who held his principles first and wouldn't give them up for anything, no matter who or what would test his patience. A man who lived by his convictions and beliefs and wouldn't budge to pressure. I can find nothing but respect for such a man.
His Wife was the source of humour that he however claimed to lack (though if you ever were witness to his put downs they showed excellent wit) A kind and well spoken woman who like her Husband showed much tolerance and patience when dealing with people of different cultures, lifestyles or just outright awkward people.
She also told me about a dessert called Cheesecake which I have never tried, as holding a toast to a couple that didn't drink seems inappropiate, I promise to sit down and eat my first slice one day in their memory.
My thoughts are with Sapphire, their friends, family and colleagues in the Merciful Crown. --------------------------------------

For the first time in years I'm actually rendered speechless by this shocking announcement. Raze was a wonderful man ū one of the few IĘve grown rather fond of within the KotMC.
I remember the first time that I met him, almost as though it was yesterday. I had recently left the Sani Sabik and split with my wife. With very little left to live for, I found friendship within the arms of a young Amarrian woman serving within the KotMC.
Naturally, as a former pirate and Sani Elder, I was treated with some degree of hostility and skepticism from some of those fine men and women, but one man stood out from the crowd and offered me his help. He probably didnĘt trust me, but he offered me his hand in friendship and his guidance in helping me start a new life for myself.
Since that day, IĘve held the greatest of respect for Raze Valadeus ū a man who would always read my posts on the IGS and point out anything that was in poor taste, even if I was only speaking in jest. He was, and will continue to remain, the voice of reason and decency within my mind, when IĘm expressing an opinion on the Summit.
Raze Valadeus, I didnĘt know you long, but I wish I had taken the opportunity to get to know you better. I will miss you.

This is a beautiful sentiment and very appropriate for we who often depart the body in one form or another. I hope that it is spiritually true as well. Thank you for citing this ancient text. The Disciples of Ston express our sympathies to the Valadeus family. May peace rest upon you.

Raze was my friend, one of the few who accepted my return without challenge or hostility. He will be missed.
I found this a while ago, it seems fitting.
'Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush. Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die. '
Goodbye my friend.

There are two things I wish to say, one for each of the departed.
DonĘt be dismayed at good-byes. A farewell is necessary before we can meet again and meeting again, after moments or a lifetime, is certain for those who are friends.
A memory lasts forever, Never does it die. True friends stay together, And never say goodbye.
It was an honour to know them, and they will be surely missed.

I am terribly distressed to hear this news. Although I could not call either a friend, I held both of the elders of the Valadeus family in high regard. I am glad that we ended our acquaintance with a kindly note, although I wish I knew that the sentiment had reached Lord Valadeus.
As the wide variety of mourners here already attests, Lord Valadeus was perhaps uniquely open-hearted and open-minded among vocal capsuleers, yet not at the cost of his own faith. His lectures were a bright spot in my weeks, for in addition to learning about my people's allies I also enjoyed the word puzzles and gems of wit he set out for us. I regret that I never put together the questions I held back during his first few lectures and took him up on his offer to discuss them in depth, for I might have gained both insights and a friend.
Lady Valadeus was warm and friendly, ever ready with a kind word or a smile. I interacted with her more directly but only on simple matters, but when I eavesdropped on her in channels I was always impressed by how well-spoken and down-to-earth she seemed to me.
The two of them exemplified the best face of the Empire - charity, kindness, steadfastness, and a balanced mix of discipline and humor. Both of them showed a strength in their convictions that came across not with the harsh edge of so many Amarr, but as people who had found their footing and wanted to lend a steadying hand to others. Some may disagree but I feel the Empire lost two of its greatest diplomats and advocates, and is a less welcome place for their loss.
I do not share their faith, but I hope that they have found the peace of theirs.
My condolences to those who knew them well, and especially to young Sapphire. I have no parents to lose, but I have lost friends even though I have lived not much longer than you have, and if it is any comfort I have found that the warm memories seem to outlast the hard ones. I hope you find the same. |

Raze and Victoria were two of the genuinely best people I have ever known.
If New Eden had 10 such couples, I think peace would stop being simply a dream.
Hopefully, their burden is a little lighter now, their path a little gentler.

I had not spoken to Raze or Victoria much. I am not one of the more vocal members of the capsuleer community. However, I have heard both speak many times on the Summit in the short time since my return to space, and in both I found a voice of reason and compassion. It deeply saddens me to know that both of those voices have been silenced.
New Eden is not a peaceful place, and no one exemplifies that fact more than the capsuleers. All too often we are the embodiment of the worst of humanity, a concentration of its vice, hate and deceit. The Valadeus family stood proud and apart from this trend as lovers of peace, steadfast in their values and unflinching in their resolve to do right. The cluster is a lesser place for their loss.
To Sapphire Valadeus, I offer my condolences, of as little value as they might be. I am deeply sorry you must go through this.
May the deceased go with God, to a better, softer place than this. Rest in peace.
"Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold Her early leaf's a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay."
