Hi, this is my first post so I'm not sure I'm posting this in the right place. I'm currently running incursions in my hyperion (I bought it cause it looks cool) and I'm saving up/training for a tengu. I have a long way to go as right now my wallet is at 256 mil. I'll keep chipping away, but the problem is there's a chance someone will come along and try to blow up me and all my corpmates between now and a long, long time in the future. I wanna be prepared for if we get wardecced so I'm in the market for a good pvp ship. I was thinking a drake and I've trained to use Tech II heavies. Should I do that or is it a bad idea? If so, what are my options? |

Bad idea, buying a ship is nice and all but if you have no real pvp experience you'll probably get whipped no matter what you buy. My advice, unless you are willing to start pvp ing, is to dock up if someone wardecs you. |

if u want to face them... what u are looking at is your fleet setup ... not ur ship setup..
U cant fight alone.. u will loose and your corp morale will go down.. so the right alternative is to have a fleet to fight back all the pirates that war deck u
you need: - cloaky neutral scout so that u get early warning and he can give u warp in on top of ur enemy ships - heavily tanked ship to bait the lonely enemy ships - A fleet setup of 5-6 drakes/shield canes + 1 lechesis + 1 dual web/TP huginn and 2 tackling frigs and u are ready to go.. happy hunting :) |

You should go out with a cheap frigate a few times and do some fights to gain experience. It's a good and cheap way to get a hang of things. Cruisers are also a viable alternative that are underestimated. Work your way up until you have the confidence and ISK to be able to fit a drake, fight in it and lose it without having to worry about money. Fly what you can lose, right?
Try to go out with your corp into lowsec and get a hang of things together. It's always more fun together. |

Acquire the best ship in the game - friendship. Make friends, build relationships. Then blob the f*** out of whoever wardec'd you with a tons of T1 frigates. |

Basically what everyone else said. If you've never PvP'd, you can't win alone. Get people - preferably good PvPers.
I would but I have a life, as it is obvious from the fact that I play EvE and post in W+T on an alt. |

Thanks everyone. I certainly have realized from the recent war that my alliance needs to organize itself better. We took a system, then made no effort whatsoever to hold it. We'd form random groups sometimes but we didn't stop them from filling the whole system with Cynos, blasting our POCOS to bits and then promtly building their own. :D The bottom line is they were organized, we weren't. |

If you are starting off, and want some good PVP experience, there are a few ways I think are good to go about doing so:
1. Join Red Vs. Blue. This is always a good place for people wanting to learn PVP to start off. Good group to get in with. Whichever side you join will be more than happy to teach you the ropes.
2. This may be a little coy, but perhaps join a more PVP oriented corp or alliance? Some are friendlier than others for learning to PVP, but it is also a good way to get your feet wet, so to speak.
3. Fly cheap at first (Frigs and T1 cruisers), for you will probably die a lot for a little while until you get better. |
