Evening guys.
I'm about that start doing some low/null sec exploration with my tengu, or loki.
Using the covops sub is gimping the dps by alot, but is ~350ish dps enough to break the Bs spawns tanks in 6/10?
And, how much tank will i need (On avarage)?
Cheers.

You're not breaking the Crimson Lord (Blood 6/10) with 350 dps. It takes freaking forever at 538. Unsure about others.

You can squeak 400 DPS out of an exploration Loki (Covert & Locus) with 3 Gyros and a TE, but you are restricted to an effective range of 20km, which is VERY bad against Bloods because of the neuts, plus they might tracking disrupt you. You can do the 6/10 with some very careful flying and kiting but it takes ages. Using 3 TEs + 1 Gyro pushes you out to 30km which is safer but you do absolutely garbage DPS. The DPs from 5 Arties is too bad to make the range difference work.
The tengu fares no better in the DPS stakes...
You really need to set up a full combat fit with a spare high and stick a proto cloak in it.

Carry the non-cov op subsystem + extra launcher/turret in your cargo. Dock up and change your fit when you find something you like.
Its not as dangerous as people make it out to be.

There are plenty of place in lo-sec and null that are mostly deserted or are simply transit areas these days. If you avoid the busy areas by doing some research first then it is possible to use a cov-ops to scan down and bookmark all the sigs/anoms in a constellation then get your T3 and go and run them all.

I just did the Sansha 6/10 Overseer last night.
It took me 6 hours and resulted in me getting a Harbinger, fitting it out for almost all DPS and spending an hour shooting the overseer. He's worse than the Crimson Lord. -------------------------------------------------- I am the Love Angel, Wedding Peach, and I am very displeased by your lack of love! |

Claims such as these always intrigue me. Is that 538 DPS your actual dps with the ship, or a theoretical EFT DPS? Are you shooting the correct ammo type? Are you at a decent range? etc?
Basically if it takes this much time, you are doing something wrong. The longest it took me to kill a dude was a Dominion Saint in a 150 DPS Travel fit Dramiel (it was in a belt next to a gate i bounced off) and i had to burn out guns to break the tank. |

Domination Saints - i.e. faction Belt rats - are very, very different from complex overseers. As you mentioned, pretty much anything can kill a faction belt spawn. In contrast, the Crimson Lord, for example, has 380 hp/s peak shield regen, before even resists are taken into account. Crimson Lord It also has additional armor repping ability, which I've found to be less of a pain then the shields. I'd say 500 raw dps is about minimum for breaking it in a reasonable amount of time.
Edit for clarity

Ishtar, 2 SDAs, 2 omnis, Garde IIs and Curator IIs, both within optimal (Curators do very slightly more damage after resists; 437 vs. 431 dps and yes, I used both in cycles to allow them to rep as he also has a tendency to target them every once in awhile). So:
- Optimal: check.
- Tracking: check.
- Resists vs. damage type: check.
Care to add any other dimensions to that list?

As already stated, belt rats are not the same as overseers. Not even close. Your Dramiel can probably break just about any belt rat but it won't stand a chance against a 6/10. It might not die (incoming damage was never a problem) but it won't kill something like that. Neither will a sub-par BC or even a badly fit/off damage type BS.
(In the previous room you have to break a similar tank on a structure -- from outside of 60km. If there's a BC that can project that much damage that far I've never flown it, more or less limiting your options to sentries and BSs.)

You don't actually have to kill the Crimson Sentinal, I typically don't. Get it to aggro on a drone/something else, kill the bs's, blitz to the gate.

Well, there's a good chunk of play time I'll never get back. Thanks for that....

There's also a way to sneak past the Crimson Sentinel without him aggressing you. -------------------------------------------------- I am the Love Angel, Wedding Peach, and I am very displeased by your lack of love! |
