I really can't imagine someone engaging without the guns loaded... poorly coded bots tbh.
Kitty said up assume ev1 is a scrub and engage everything. I 2nd this.
Have you ever been in Minmatar Factional Warfare?
Joey, have you ever been in a Turkish prison?
This cat named Failpirate used to engage everything and he got pretty good. I think he was a B A N U S alt, maybe Lilith V's or monkeym3n's. This dude would take on any frigate hull in his rifter. Whoever he was he was an ass kicker.

Originally by: Kiran Fayede Izekiel Zateki> The request is a bit general, but I'll give it a go... In my mind, the most important "tip" for PVP is "Know Your Ship"
Know the basic hull itself: Each ship has its strengths, weaknesses, bonuses, etc. This really goes without saying...but it is too often forgotten. Strengths and weaknesses don't just come in the form of resists, but also in the form of agility, speed, drone capacity, locking range, etc. Each one of these is a factor in its combat usefulness.
When you know the basic factors of your ship, you can then fit it out to maximize those factors you want to enhance. You can choose to go with the "standard" fits if that's what suits your needs, or you can try something different.
Know what you are fitting: Like knowing the hull itself, know what you are trying to DO with your ship. Do you want to make a brawler? A kiter? An eW platform? Know what mods you need to achieve your goal and how to make them work on the hull you are using. In my limited experience for example, I have found people who simply throw on damage mods when instead a tracking mod was called for. This is usually because they donÆt understand what their hull is actually good for, or what it is they are really trying to DO with their fit. If you know what you are trying to achieve with your ship, you can fit it out accordingly. Each mod should be on there for a reason, and that reason should ultimately agree with whatever fundamental factors you are trying to enhance.
With those things in mind, you should be able to know your ship. Understanding this will tell you: - if its agility is poor or that it has trouble turning, you can figure out when you need to hit the MWD to get to the right range. AKA range control. - What situations to engage in, what situations to run from - If you need your target to chase you to get into your optimal setting, or do you want to get on them first.
DonÆt just go out there in a fit that someone hands you as ôthe best fit omgz.ö Know the ship, know what it is meant to do and fly accordingly. This has nothing to do with skill points. As far as I can tell, you need 0 skill points to click on the ôattributesö tab. It has EVERYTHING to do with the determination of the pilot.
This is perfect.
Hi Izekiel, If you were planning on using this, can you please contact me in-game first? Thanks!

When engaging in solo PVP in a Frig, turn Auto-aim ON to 6 targets. That way you automatically lock on to the drones of an enemy ship, it makes it way easier to kill those drones when you don't have to mess with overview tabs and lock them manually every time they are recalled.
This is a good one, would you be willing to elaborate a little more if possible? Or if you have another one please post. I'll be sure to name you in the newsletter.
OK I'll give it a try, though Kiran got in a good "tip" too (Yay The4!)...
In general for those starting off in solo PVP a Frigate Hull is the optimal choice. It is fast enough to get away from targets it can not kill, fast enough to get "under the guns" of large targets (and proceed o kill them slowly), and fast enough to catch other frigates. Frigate PVP is a whole article all on its own and many people already have guides online (Google rifter guide!). One of the biggest problems Frigate Solo PvP-ers face is Drones. When you do manage to catch that juicy lone battleship and get into range under its massively slow to track guns, often the only thing it has to hurt you with is DRONES! Generally the best thing to do in this scenario is to target and kill the drones, which will then allow you the 15 minutes of alone time you need to actually kill the Battleship you caught.
Smart PVP-ers have an entire overview tab set to show enemy drones only. You should to this. It will allow you to see if drones are close to you and attacking you and will allow you to target the drones and kill them. Smarter PVP-ers know to recall their drones once they see one of them being attacked, then relaunch. This forces you to "re-target" the drone in order to destroy it. Even in a frig, it can take precious seconds to find the new drone, click on it, target it...seconds matter in solo PVP.
In general it is to you benefit to turn auto-targeting OFF, as it gets you in more trouble than its worth. However, this is one of those special circumstances when you want it ON! If you plan to engage in solo combat Vs. 1-2 opponents, turn auto targeting ON and put up the maximum number of targets you have the skill/ship for. Enemy Drones have to target you to shoot you just like everything else in EVE...when they target you, your ship will automatically target them back. This means you will instantly know that drones are attacking you, and can instantly choose to kill them, if that's the right move in the situation. It will also quickly let you know what kind of drones are attacking you. Sometimes its a good idea to just ignore the drones and go for the kill (If for example Hobgoblins are attacking your ship and you have 89% thermal resistance...but the enemy is shooting explosive ammo into your 20% Exp resistance and actually hitting you). Auto-Lock also means you will instantly see if the enemy recalls its drones, and you will automatically lock on to those drones again if the enemy relaunches and attacks you...you may eve see yourself lock on to a different type of drone as your enemy may have a large drone bay and may be switching between different types of drones...for example EC-300 ECM drones...once he realized you have him scrammed/webbed and that he can't hit you with his guns, and that he has no friends withing 10 jumps, and that all his Warrior 2s are dead...
ENJOY!

I have a good one.
Problem tracking your target? Keep missing? Fly formation as follow:
1) "look at" target 2) Double click where it's nose is going. 3) Match speed as best as possible. 4) F1.. F2.. F3.. 5) Collect killmail
This work 100% of the times your ship can at least match the speed and agility of your target. A skilled enemy will never let you fly formation with it. If he beats you with agility, you'll have to think ahead of him by pointing your nose where he will be .

So, instead of having a chance to live you...
1. Give up the possibility of having kill rights on the person. 2. Give up the possibility of jumping through the gate via aggression. 3. Give up the security status hit they would take from killing you.

It depends heavily on the circumstances. If the enemies are flying solely 90% web Daredevils or Vigilants or something, then you have no chance in hell of getting back to the gate and might as well take as many of them down with you as possible. If it's just one or two slow, lumbering battleships though, then yeah, go back to the gate. (Unless, of course, you have the firepower to kill them. ) -------- Enemy corps raided into disbandment: Three.

Where's the auto aim button about to switch it on?

The most important pvp tip. Is don't pvp in a ship you cannot easily replace. Also unexpect ship fit work.
For example
Autocannon ferox Lazor ferox Shield buffer harby (support dps fit) Armor cane Nuet cane Nuet myrmidon
If you would like fits let me know will copy form my evehq

Best advice is play to have fun in pvp, losses are just a hinderance and really have no real concern as long as you can afford it. Make isk a couple of days and easy have enough back up to lose plenty of ships while having fun doing it. Gung ho should be the way forward but many are scared to lose as it makes them look bad with the odd lose on a KB. Screw that, waiting for the right moment is like watching paint dry, boring as anything. Start cheap and fight anyone you can, learn from that and enjoy the loss/fight as much as the kills that will come.
Some will mock you for being a losser I laugh at that as I have fun!
And if you want to ignore that prepare to live in a world of ganks and boredom b]-----------------------------
It's all about the fortune and glory, fortune and glory![/b]

taken from the LSS tactician manual, section 9.8 on "Giefing, Douchyness and Being a Total Prick"
If you are at war, wait on gate let targets engage, most of them wont remember to have tackle hold aggression. When you start to take some damage and realize they're all aggro'd (means red boxed) jump through the gate and have a friend accept your application into their corp. Either the tackler will get corded on the other side or you just warp away laughing in local.
Jumping thru the gate is considered a session change and has been approved in writing by GM's recently.
