What I like is that we can build stations and capitals but none of us can make a bloody dress. Come on, Improve the product (fix broken stuff, fix broken mechanics etc.) and increase recurring revenue with a larger subscription base. If people want to join to play dressup in stations great but don't waste lots of resource on it especially since it's now so obvious many (the majority?) of us aren't interested in parting with ś's for virtual boots. :/
also, am bald, so where are the hats, hair pieces, and wigs?

Everything happens for a reason so either this NEX thing is secretly very successful or they think that by constantly advertising barbies to a group of people that want to play spaceships they will somehow sell barbies.
I'm going with the latter option and have to add that I'm surprised they haven't identified their target audience after 8 years. This seems like a "cool idea" from a meeting versus doing what will actually work. Watch what I do here CCP maybe you can learn something! Your entire market are EvE players, we can't see the NEX store if we don't like spaceships. So the basic idea is that popular things for us involve spaceships which are not barbies. So what should you sell to people who like spaceships? Ship paint schemes, sell a better looking pod and crystals that make lasers fire cool colors(but not different damage), sell access to the ability to make a better corp logo. Now that you have our attention and us buying things put in some clothes and upgrades for our quarters.
How about pricing? Look at iTunes nobody wants to spend $20 on a CD any more but they'll spend hundreds per year on 99 cent transactions, more than they'd ever spend at the higher price point.
TLDR: Identify your target. Base your pricing, advertising and product around that market. Normalize your new product or service with the target and then expand without them noticing. Don't believe me? Check into how companies in the alcoholic beverage industry function.

I wish I could trip as hard as CCP and think up crazy psychadelic BS like NEX and Arum or whatever.
I have 6 accounts but haven't played on any for years... I came back about a week ago just to look at my character's 100,000,001 skillpoint...then basically quit due to lack of content. I can fly nearly every ship in the game (only two race's t3, tho) but I found ZERO enjoyment after undocking and finding the environment practically unchanged since 2006-07.
What's so new and awesome? Clothes?
Are you high? If I trip with you can I see the reasoning behind your plans, CCP? Or did you seriously just pull the ****e covered NEX out of your arse? I'm gonna go with the latter.
I read some dev blogs in search of reason, and stumbled accross some dip**** rambling about how much time and money it takes making new ship designs and programming missions etc etc... so to make all the FUN STUFF POSSIBLE they had to implement gay stuff......like the NEX (I assume).
Well here's a big **** YOU CCP. Now ban me, so I can gtf away from your idiotic cartoonlike spaceship game. Maybe my ban will be up by the time you implment REAL changes to the game that people WANT?
Or maybe it won't be. Either way, You won't find me here.
For those that want my stuff, it's gonna be locked in my banned account in about...mehh, 2 minutes.
So, here's to posting with one of my mains, and here's to the others considering leaving this sinking ship!! Cheers! Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes -Sahwoolo Etoophie ([email protected]) |

I fly Amarr... Regardless, it's the principle that they're wasting our subscription money on content nobody wants when there are legitimate problems within the game that need fixing. Hybrid turrets was just one random example.

What you all seem to forget is this is not about spaceship barbie, this is about the fact that in less than 6 months, eve will be going full walking in stations. Some of you seem to think this last update with captains quarters WAS incarna, but in fact CCP has stated that incarna will encompass several large updates before its completed at the end of this year.
The items in the Nex store are being sold because shortly we will be meeting each other face to face inside stations, making drug deals and banging back shots at the bar! Get with the program and stop your *****ing already.

They announced Incarna like 5 damn years ago and after all of that time they released 1 Captains closet! They announce the other 3 at the end of the summer....well the end of the summer is here and now they come at the end of the year.......9 months for 4 tiny rooms? By the time they've done anything good with Incarna it will be nearly 7 years in the making......entire AAA games are made in half of that time.

But you're forgetting that this isn't a new game. This is an already existing game, with brand new elements being implemented into it. I'm also 100% sure that's a bit more complicated than just releasing a totally new game.

Think before you rage.

Edited by: Crusa Alearf on 26/08/2011 07:41:48 I never thought it would come to this. I am actually posting into a "whine-thread" on general discussion. I've always held CCP in high-regard from the BETA days to this summer. I've never played 24/7 but I've been following EVE and playing it from time to time for years. Longest break being last 10 - 12 months, when I just did not have time to play at all.
I'll say this first. I'm not complaining about Incarna, I find it has a lot of potential and I've dreamed of WIS, and I'm not quitting over it. BUT I am completely astonished how it was released and how the post-release is being handled.
Naturally I'm playing again because I received a reactivation offer from CCP. I've found new stuff to do in EVE and I'm enjoying it but what I really came back for was WIS and let's be honest CCP has been really unprofessional about delivering it. The current CQ doesn't deliver pretty much anything else than looking at your Avatar in 3D.
Sure It'll be awesome in the future but this release has been a major failure in marketing and sales sense. All the clients you're now trying to get hooked with WIS probably won't stay very long when they realize there is nothing in it at this point. And c'mon even CCP's marketing has to know FIRST IMPRESSIONS are everything.
Second, CCP released this update (which did not deliver) on the verge of summer vacation, so there has been inadequate work done to respond to calls from the player base.
Third we've been promised an update at the end of August but there has been no release of patch notes or anything to tell us what to expect. I wouldn't count the blog that was posted last week. It was honestly pretty empty content wise.
Fourth, headline news that there are new items in the NeX store, even though the items are pretty much redundant with the current shape of things. WAKE UP and deliver something news worthy!
In conclusion, we all have a right to be disappointed at CCP and this release. Not necessarily because of its features but at the way the release has been done without delivering much of the "promised" content and so leaving the value proposition quite empty.
A company this long in the game should know better.

Sorry but based on the computing power needed to just run CQ with one avatar I canĘt afford the electricity bill and cooling required to run the server farm we are going to need to actually meet up with others in the game.
And why do we need to download all the ęBarbieĘ stuff in the client anyway, canĘt it just be downloaded when needed by the person purchasing the product instead of bloating the client even more.

When I first heard about Ambulation I was excited.
I don't know about you but I find it hard to relate to a spaceship. So the thought of having the ability to get out of the pod and walk around the station, rubbernecking the sights and talking to other players seemed like a good expansion to the game. Sadly, like a lot of stuff from CCP the reality does not match the promise, CQ is of course just starting and will be developed, soon! But the current CQ is dull, depressing and just plain ugly. And the performance! well if Oblivion could look like it does running on PCs from 5 years? ago why can't CQ make more of an effort. Now it maybe that because I use Linux I have made some of the problems for myself but the delay in loading and then actually walking about has made the game unplayable. It's not just me though I have heard that others have similar problems especially with the heat generated by the graphics card. Still, one bonus from having turned CQ off is that I do not have to worry about the "Barbie factor" as I can't see it anyway. If CCP could just get the performance sorted then I look forward to what *might* be a useful addition to the experience of playing EVE, but until then it will stay switched off and if the rumours of CQ being made compulsory are true then the time may come when I will be forced to leave, not because I want to but because the game is just not playable on my setup.

All broken.
The completely wrong direction that this game is taking notwithstanding, that is some of the most unoriginal, unimaginative, and uninspired content ever (as if the standard clothing we got with the char creator wasn't bland enough).
In the future, if you must release something like that again, a note in the patch notes would be preferable to a standalone news item. Really. ... Return the Old Hangar Back... for Immersion.

This must be targetted at female players or potential new female players....it just has to be....all that's missing are the handbags in this lineup. If CCP is really trying to target the female fashion conscious demographic with this content, they are gonna have to do a better job.

I think the problem is that what you are describing requires some familiarity with the game called EVE-online and some imagination.
