First of all; if this or a similiar Idea has already been brought up which I may have overlooked in the "Commonly Proposed Ideas" post, or if it has already been discussed at all, I apologize. I recently had an idea, when I thought about all those months I weren't subscribed and couldn't skill anything because I either didn't had the money to pay for my subscription at that time or simply had lost interest and thought, that paying my monthly fee just for skilling would not be worth it. Today, after over a year I think differently and came up with an idea regarding this inconvenience, which I believe does not just affect me.
Why not pay a monthly fee (based on ones country) for 30days worth of skillpoints during a time were you weren't subscribed?
Of course this would require some rules as; how many skillpoints would this be and how would you calculate this? Wouldn't this be unfair towards players that never been unsubscribed for such a time? Or, wouldn't some players be able to take advantage of this by getting ahead of others?
Let me asnwer those questions, because I don't want to either unbalance the game (we all here love) nor do I want to harm the balance CCP tried to maintain for so long.
1. How many skillpoints would this be and how would you calculate this? - First of all, you should obviously not be able to get more Skillpoints than you would have by now, if you would have stayed subscribed and kept skilling. It would be calculated by either a toon, whichs Attribute points (beeing 14) are distributed over the 5 Attributes even (beeing 2.8 - which I know is unrealistic to make ingame but sure possible in a calculation on a sheet of paper) or a toon without any attribute points distributed at all. This would result in a somewhat smaller number of SP you could have by now, if you would have stayed subscribed. And that way you couldn't get an advantage towards someone that may have started playing at the same time as you did, but who stayed subscribed until today.
2. Wouldn't this be unfair towards players that never been unsubscribed for such a time? - It wouldn't, because if you calculate it the way I explained in the answer to the first question, you could never have more SP than you would have if you wouldn't make use of this method after all.
3. Wouldn't some players be able to take advantage of this by getting ahead of others? - Well, guess we already covered that already^^
After all, from my point of view, the usage of such a method even offers less advantage ingame, than to use the same amount of money and get a PLEX, to buy a ship bigger than yours and shot you down :) Thanks for reading my first (and rather long) post/suggestion and I'd be grateful for any constructive feedback or points I may have overlooked and may be crucial. This is just a raw idea, which might need to get more thought maybe
Regards, NV
