I've seen quite a lot of info on how to increase one's faction standing in order to be able to set up a POS in a 0.6/0.7 system, and the methods are clear, but does anyone know what the average & minimum times are for starting at 0.0 standings to get to 0.6 or 0.7?
I realize the answers on this are dependent on the average amount of time spent in game each day doing the activities that increase faction standing. So let's start with 4 hours a day, in high sec.
Months? Over a year? Is it even worth it? __________________________ Obi-wan only felt that way about Mos Eisley because he'd never played Eve Online |

Depends really. Data center missions can boost you with little effort but much isk and some minimal standings to use the agents. COSMOS can boost you fast but with some effort and minimal standings to use the agents. Find the Faction Standing Repair Plan in the Missions and Complexes forum. Doing regular missions for storylines will take months to get the 5-7 faction standing for 0.5-0.7 anchoring. You can always buy the standings from another player for pretty cheap, 100m or so. Look in the sell orders forum. That's best if you're going to use holding alts with no standings of their own, otherwise the corp will revert to the member standings over time. (But standings check is only needed for anchoring the tower itself.)

Edited by: Velicitia on 28/08/2011 12:28:12 using L4 agents, it used to take roughly one month of grinding 2x story line missions per day. Might be a lot faster now that everyone is -20 to "standing need" (the min standing you need to get an agent) and +20 to payout (LP, standings, etc).
There are also skills that help you get more standings (connections? ... it's one of the social skills). Note that in order to drop a tower in 0.6 or 0.7 space, your corporation needs to have 6.00 or 7.00 standings with that faction.
Standings are calculated as the average of all pilots with non-null standings who have been in the corporation for seven days.
so, you starting a new corporation will have null standings for a week (note, it's usually a good idea to run at least one storyline after you've formed the corporation to "kick" the standings; otherwise it doesn't always work at the seven day mark).
Assuming your corporation has 7.00 or better standing (one pilot) and you bring in a -2.00 standing pilot; you will have 7.00 or better for seven days. After the -2.00 pilot has been in the corp for a week, your standing will drop to 2.50. (7 + (-2.00))/2.
ed -- as noted, running the COSMOS or the Datacentre (turn in the pirate tags) missions will help give a relatively large boost quickly.

Thanks.
I only recently learned about the datacenter missions. Fortunately I've got quite a collection of dog tags. Didn't really know what they were for, but just decided to keep them, though it would appear that the copper ones are the ones that are needed the most. __________________________ Obi-wan only felt that way about Mos Eisley because he'd never played Eve Online |

I decided doing it with L2 courier missions - grinded 99% of the standing that way - I think it took me 700-750 courier missions alone and several cosmos mission in the end to overcome 6.0 standing, because the bonus from storyline missions is lower the higher your faction standing gets.
If you do 2 storyline mission per day that's less than a month.

There are a bunch of corps that offer pre-raised standing corps for sale on the sell forums. Just buy one, get into corp, put up the POS. Done in an hour or two. |

I've seen it done several times over to 6.0 faction standings in less than a week - you really need to know what you are doing though, and have decent piloting skills to go with it.

How much do the "dogtag" missions help out? I've seen info on sites that use words like "substantial" to talk about the faction increase you get.

I just did the cheaper ones and it was like a point and a half worth of standings.
As said before though, just buy a pre-made corp off the forums. It's a hell of a lot easier. - NEVER PVP SOBER. |
