Since when did sony pull the strings for a pc title? Also since when is sony pulling the strings on CCP? you need to learn that there are only 3 console networks out there if you want to put a game out on console, sony, xbox and nintendo. So.... What im saying is, you sir are an idiot and dont know what is going on. More than likely all 3 companies put up a bid for dust rights and sony won the bid for the console rights. That's it nothing more.
Sony and every other corporation would never invest in a game developer blindly and without product safeguards. That means they have a voice in development and creation of the final product. Sony got the Dust deal. What are the chances that they will pass of WoD given the current global fang marketing craze?
While we're at it, you sir are a f@cking idiot for going directly to name calling and being a ****head in general. |

Edited by: Freyja Asynjur on 29/08/2011 21:46:54 The World of Darkness (first version) is one of the most interesting and mature tabletop role-playing setting ever made. Knowing that White Wolf writers (well, it's CCP...) are involved in the game itself, one can hope the game will be faithful to the franchise, which was was really cold-hearted and highly competitive, a bit like EVE.

Like anything else thats vague on details how the hell would anyone know?
There are no actual in game screen shots... There are no actual details on mechanics only rumors... There are no actual details on settings... There are no details on gameplay.
There's an artwork trailer and a few interviews. Carbon character creator doesn't count.
Really with such compelling evidence no one can say one way or the other.

Whatever World of Darkness will or will not be I can guarantee one thing it will be, based on CCPs current thinking behind Incarnas NEX store WoD will be huge cash shop with a tiny MMO tacked onto it.

One thing to remember, WoD was in development by white wolf long before CCP and White Wolf merged.
As for announcements? The Grand Masquerade is in a couple of weeks, there should be some announcements then.

EVE was around long before the NEX store to, nothing to stop CCP from gutting huge chunks from the bits White Wolf developed and replacing it with item shop related mechanics.
You will see the full works in WoD IMO, as well as the cosmetic stuff there will be XP potions, extra storage and carrying space, weapons, mounts, everything basically.
I don't know if there will be a way of buying in game cash directly but CCP might use EVEs mechanic of game time for IG cash trading between players, unless the game is going to be some kind of F2P or freemium subscription model of course. GTC to gold brings in extra revenue as it allows the people who are interested in your game but cant afford it to play.
CCP are totally committed to having a cash shop that makes them a lot of money, EVE players have been very resistant to it but its much more likely to work in a game when it was there from day 1.
Anybody who plans to play WoD just needs to hope and pray to the flying spaghetti monster that they don't use the same ******ed pricing policy they are using in the NEX at the moment.

For WoD to be a success, it must be dark and cut throat. To this, CCP has a good track record. I wouldn't trust it in any other hands.
With luck it will be something new that, like EVE, breaks away from the typical MMO mold. But we'll just have to wait and see.

The obligatory V:TM is not glitters and unicorns and when it comes out I hope CCP rakes in the cash of those unwitting 'vampire lovers' and maybe just grab the interest of a good number of them. I would not be surprised if the numbers of individuals that are interested in vampires outnumber those that are interested in space ships. I would also not be surprised if many of them will dig the hell out of a high risk game that CCP could potentially put out.

I can not blame them really. CCP knows better then most that the game that they created has a significantly lower retention rate as compared to other similarly long lasting MMORPGs out their. Ideally they would accomplish this by realizing the mentality of those that can not stay with their game more then a few months at max and sell items that those individuals will want while not introducing game influencing items for cash.

Originally by: Trixie Stardust I've seen people saying in various threads that Wod will fail, stuff like "as soon as wod fails then the devs can get back to eve."
I don't know anything about White Wolf or their world of darkness thing, but I know this.. Bloodlines spread through Second Life like a pandemic. The vampire thing is a nightmare.. it's like Amway.. network marketing, but with bites and blood dolls rather than vitamins and toilet paper.
There's a segment of the population that will go gaga over this.. if ccp gets the look and gameplay right, they'll make a massive fortune off vamp gear and vampy clothes and coffins etc. etc. in their wod cash shop.
So my objective prediction is, like it or not, it will be a gigantic success..
I showed some initial interest, since I enjoyed the penn and paper vampire: the masquerade game. But by the looks of it, CCP is turing it into a micro transaction fashion show. I want no prt of that. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Originally by: Perramas It will succeed if it has content, is stable and no major bugs. If CCP can pull that off they will have there very own money printing press.
If they fail on one of those things the future is bleak for WoD. Just ask Age of Conan, Warhammer, Aion, Darkfall and many other mmogs that failed to deliver the three things I listed.
Add the late lamented 'Asheron's Call 2' to that list too.
