Unless you're floating around with billion ISK fits, you shouldn't be target for suicide ganks. Normal active tanking will suffice. Though I like putting a damage control in a spare low slot just because. --------

High-sec can be a very dangerous place! As others have written above, either tank your hulk to withstand the initial alpha of a high-sec gank OR find another place to mine.
Null-sec miners in upgraded systems can make bank, fyi.
Also: all pilots must make choices on how to fit their ships depending on where, when and with(and against!) whom they fly. Some people choose to make their ships very effective at mining or damage output. Some folks focus on survivability.
Cherish the choices that CCP has allowed to remain in-game before your favored ship gets nerfed into yet another homogenous lump of space slag.

As IVE seen, just my perspective mind you; if you dont have a logistics chain to the markets in high sec, not so much lol
Better yet, where to sell in 0.0 lol

What a bunch of idiotic advice.
First yeah the barges and exhumers and hell pretty damned much every T1 industrial in the game needs a PG boost.
Particularly the exhumers which are supposed to be built for the "hostile environment of deep space" instead we get a BC sized ship with the PG of a T1 frigate.
Give me a break industrial equipment tends to be tough even in the real world, in an universe as dangerous and full of hostile privately owned combat ships as EVE industrial ships would be even tougher.
That said putting a bigger tank on a hulk is just increasing the gankers profits. If they want to gank you they will gank you, end of story.
If you are tanked enough to survive a solo Brutix they'll bring 2 if you can survive the alpha of a Tempest they'll just bring 2 if you could survive 2 they'll bring 3.
That said the odds of getting ganked aren't that high, if it were Hulks would not be one if the most commonly flown ship in the game.
The pure number of hulks out there actually affords more protection than all the tank in the world. There just aren't that many people lame enough to spend all their time suiciding Hulks to make it unprofitable to operate one.
In general if you keep your nose down don't smack local and don't be a twit you'll for the most part be ok.
In the case of the two hulks I ganked the pilots asked for it. One threatened an alt of RVB's CEO so we hunted him down and taught him a lesson in manners and consequence. Be careful about talking **** you can't back up because you never know who that newb might be an alt of.
The other the guy was smacking in local that one of our pilots was just ****ed because his use of an Orca protected him from being can flipped so we couldn't rob him, this prompted us to deliver an object lesson by taking his hulk away. I viewed it as a public service to educate him that no place in EVE is safe.
Forget a tank, maximize your yield to maximize your earnings pay attention and bank enough to replace your hulk before you start spending short of really bad luck or **** talking you should be fine and worse comes to worse if you aren't stupid you'll make more than you lose anyway.

Hmmm I had a thought.....
If you're flying with an orca, could you just dock your hulk when it looks like you're being targeted? I always tank my orca...

If you are paying attention and quick enough sure.
Remember the ship that you are storing can't have anything but charges in it's hold so you have to move any ore over to the hulk before you can store it which means you've got to turn off your strips move the ore that is put into your hulk into the Orca then click store ship, and hope you have stayed within 2500m of your Orca.

This is a good answer.
Yes absolutely you can.
Actually if you have an orca, just fit some shield transporter, it will stop most gankers except 1400s

Originally by: Sin Full With so many of them being ganked its a wonder there is an EVE economy at all..
But there is an economy, because in terms of percentages, not many hulks get ganked. Hulks do get ganked, yes, but usually only if they appear to be bots.
You don't really need to worry until hulkageddon, until then, you have as much chance of getting hit by lightning, unless that character is the same one you use to troll/make enemies with.

That was supposed to have happened in August. Being that its the 31st of August here in the US, I think the banning of helicity may have cut the head from that particular snake -------- CCP knows better than the players whats good for their game. SOE knew what was best for SWG too. Better than all those players that left too. |

hulks get ganked, but not as much as u think, i bet 2000 hulks die in highsec a year, im betting most the ones that do die are obviousbotters or are right on top of more mining ships so a smartbomb BS can kill all of them.
mr. OP... dont bot, and if ur that worried mine in higher sec systems u might die, but thats ok u will mine more in a hulk then anything else. Eve online next expansion details |

1. Don't ever be AFK. 2. Strategize your survival methods. 3. After you get ganked, revise your strategy. 4. ???? 5. Profit
