I am not sure where to post this......
I was advertising selling a gist x-type large shield booster in Jita local with a merchant alt. This guy opens a chat and ask for me to sell a bit cheaper, i agree and he made a contract.
The part i had never seen is that his contract had 2 YOU WILL PAY clauses for both the money and the item and no YOU WILL GET clause?
How the hell did he do that ?

Contracts have a "request items" area when you make them, so if you request both isk and an item, I guess the recipiant will get 2 "you will pay" parts.
But never tried it.

Edited by: Bloutok on 31/08/2011 17:38:33 I might have found it. I made a private contract to an alt where i only request stuff. The game allows that, so i guess he simply changed the text of the contract when he posted in the private room we were in.
Well, learn a new scam everyday.
*update* In the start tab of the contracts page, it is listed as a "want to buy" has been assigned to you.

Rule of thumb for consumerism in EVE, never deal with actual people, unless you are a trader yourself. If the contract is priced legit, isn't in low or null, and the item type matches, you are good to go.
Use the 'exclude want to buy' filter as well.
Edit: There is zero reason for people to spam local with contracts as opposed to simply posting them and waiting. What do you do when you need a named piece? You search contracts for it across the entire game (or even by specific station location such as Jita IV-4 from anywhere in the game), filtering by high sec for instance if you reside there. No reason to talk to or parlay with people in local.

Jita local is a great resource for learning about scams, as nearly every contract advertised is a scam. I often click on them to see what the latest scam tactics are.

That's a very good idea actually, I am usually even reticent to bother clicking on them personally, sort of a reflex action against malware and trojan sites I guess, but mouse hover could take care of that at least if I were curious enough.
Good idea tho, I think I may go ahead and spend some time doing that myself, as I have probably not caught up with what the new ones are myself, unless I find them in the contract menu itself.

It's kind of self-defeating to obdure with regard to contracts. I've just upgraded a fleet of standard ships to T2 and Navy issue. All the ships I replaced were rigged. So, do I repackage and lose the rigs to put them on standard market?
OR, what I did, check the rig prices and ship prices. Offer the ship for just under market value and add the price for the rigs at 50% market value (buy one get one free). It's a definite bargain.
Just read the contract. That's all you have to do. Use the calculator if you're not sure of the numbers involved. Most contracts won't bite you. I've gotten a lot of good deals from them, and will do so in the future.
Paranoia strikes deep.

Don't trade large value items with people you don't know... especially in Jita or the regular hubs. Let them buy it off a contract that you have generated yourself.
Get over it! Learn from your mistake and move on. |

I saw a contract advertised in Jita for a fitted Abaddon that was very cheap. I was there just laughing at the scams but this one looked interesting. Long story short I ended up with a nicly fitted ship cheap...

Always pause and read one more time before accepting anything in EVE. Also look for the colors, red = you will pay.

This there is some real bargains since not everyone it's a scammer i got a new hyperion with 2x rigs by just 2m extra from market price on the ship alone, also sometime there is ppl that just want to sell something quick at a low but decent price so they spam the contract in hope someone notice the deal and take it.
In general the rule of thumb it's always double/triple or even quadruple check the contracts to see if everything it's alright.
P.S: i think the latest scam it's the 7 or 6x heavy launcher but there is just single missiles

reading Jita local contract scam spam is always fun. When I'm bored, I get my Jita alt, and read them. Some are pretty good. If I need something, I generally don't read the local, I just go to contracts. And yes you CAN get good deals on rigged ships and such. i've sold a few of those myself which I had no use for anymore or when I moved to a new place and got rid of my old stuff.
As for the funniest scams I've seen: Fully fit tengu, except the subsystems are the skillbooks, not the subsystems a 0 error on sales of large amounts of minerals, aka pay 220 isk per unit of mex for instance instad of 22.

I always buy high-value ships on contracts...you can get pre-rigged ships cheaper than putting the together yourself (unless you mine your own minerals...then they're free )
