CCP has some serious issues with management. They have like 300 people, dozens of devs for various parts of the gameplay. Yet they can't replace a cyno jump effect for 2 years. They can't fix the simplest game balance issues for years. This isn't because the devs are that incompetent. No one who can hold a job can be that bad, something's holding them back and steering them in wrong direction - their management.

Totally agreeing that it was a questionable management decision, but not with the amount of rage. Is it an annoying bug that I'd like fixed as soon as possible. . . . YES!
Is this something that I'm going to let my blood pressure gets raised over. . . No

So was this a "Know Issue" before you released this patch?
Whatever happened to Quality Control, The people that are suppose to catch this stuff before you release your final product? Maybe CCP should fire everone and hire people that actually play and likes the spaceship part instead of space barbie. Because if your quality control, ha joke, was doing their job they might have caught this.

Wow, thanks CCP, just had a close one. So the offline modules is just an annoyance? I went into a mission with my Tengu and unknowingly had 2 missile launchers and MY SHIELD BOOSTER offline. I was webbed and scrammed, not normally anything to worry about. BUT with an offline shield booster I almost had them penetrate my shields by the time I killed the frigs and got the heck out of Dodge.... My heartrate got a boost instead at the thought I might have to rebuy a TENGU (and all the fittings in it.

Originally by: Jada Maroo This is why no one should bother bug testing for CCP. As someone who loves trying out the new stuff (and encountering the bugs they introduce) on Sisi, I've seen this happen over and over. Tester reports huge bug, developers do nothing and release anyway, players encounter huge bug, CCP acts dumbfounded.
This is pretty much the definition of not giving a **** about your own game.
Just keep sending in your sub money. That they care about. You? Your game experience? Not so much.
Unless you like clothes and paint jobs for MORE money on top of your subscription which gets spent to develop and support other games. That they might be able to do.
--- Players are losing faith and loyalty in CCP due previous expansions not living up to player expectations. The CSM and CCP agreed that expectation management can be improved |

Edited by: OT Smithers on 02/09/2011 02:48:02 I am generally a solid CCP fan and actually enjoy defending them against the mouthbreating basement dwellers and monocle hating masses. But it's becoming more an excercise in creativity than debate. So here's my advice:
The goal of development is to IMPROVE the game.
I understand that game development is often a two-steps-forward, one-step-back kind of thing, but you guys are leaving off the first part. You're leaping seven steps to the side, doing a spin, then falling backwards and thrashing in the dirt like a kid in an anime induced seizure.
Stop it.
Work on things that make the game BETTER.

I hope that's sarcasm, because this was not a patch, it's called a botch. Offline modules they knew about on Sisi for months, but CCP decided to ship this botch. I cry sweet and salty tears when I see this continued disregard by CCP to its players. Obviously nothing new from what I gather reading all the forums, but COME ON!!! This is a disgrace, CCP !!!

Good luck trying to figure how could that be if we weren't talking about Crowd Control Productions, hf, that notorious indie developer who formerly had an interest in doing things right and lately has comitted itself into a suicidal disregard for whatever keeps the subscribers paying their bill.

Heh, month ago. These offlining bugs have been on test server for months, since spring iirc. They have been reported in every patch. And yet they are here on TQ -----------------

CCP can't really manage an MMO. Maybe they should manage tennis courts!!! It sure would be a lot easier. It's PvP based, which supposedly they understand. Maintain the playing surface, netting, fencing, lines painted on the ground, nothing complicated like CarbonIO.
And they could have a vanity shop and sell miniskirts, special shoes and Gatorade! Placing the courts in a violent urban area would be like the Dust interface with first person shooters taking paid-for orders from the tennis players. I think it could work. They just need to translate their MMO vision into balls and rackets.

Ya'll would start *****in about the price of the sodas, the cost of tickets, the quality and construction of the seating, what kind of surface would be optimal for the time of year, that's before ya'll even got started on the actual rules of tennis.

Well, I've not seen anything this shoddy in years. I've been writing software for, gosh, coming up to 35 years and I can't remember seeing a company's product which was so ahead of the field mangled in such a lack-lustre and care free manner.
I have seen bad software products and I have seen really bad software products but to see something like EVE which was well written and developed turn into something as truly bad as it is now is simply breathtaking.
It simply beggers belief that the CCP management has allowed this to happen. The customers were unhappy with the first Incarna release and one would have expected that some effort would have been made in this patch/update to make the customers happier.
I see this update as something which is giving us two things: 1. Ship Exchanging 2. A new forum
The first simply doesn't work and the second is the worst looking dog's dinner that I have seen. Are these forums broken and requiring a fix? No.
I joked in a previous thread that we should be careful asking for ship spinning because we may get what we ask for. I think we got it; we have to go to the Fitting window each time we dock where, of course, we can spin the ship.
For the first time I am worried about the future of EVE. Really worried. If one can't test a simple function as undocking then what else is there being broken in the background?
For this offline module situation to happen can only mean that the code is extraordinarily badly written. I hate to think how what should be safely in one Class can affect what should be in another in such a way. There can only be some really poor coding going on behind the scenes.
At least we were promised that the targetting icons would be returned in this release...

You know, I like the whole carbonIO thing coming out. But I won't be playing until they fix this because of training times and life in general. So it's what ever for now.
CarbonIO is them attempting to fix a mistake they shouldn't have made in the first place, writing a game in python.

Really CCP, you fuc*ing FAIL hard. WHat are you playing at....
I know delaying updates looks bad, but if you just delay with a messages saying "We are sorry, we have been unable to fix a bug that our Sisi bug hunters have made us aware of. We will rollout the update once this bug has been fixed, fly safe everyone"
Ok, you may get some forum rants, but nothing to the magnitude of rolling out updates with known reported HUGE bugs like this one.
To be honest, at the moment, you are sucking HARD!
