I vote the period of time, just before Trinity was launched. Before these new graphics, even that they are great. But from that point the downhill started and Incarna is absolute the worst expansion ever. It brought absolutely nothing to flying in space.
I really liked that time. Titans were rare and deadly. Battleships and dreadnoughts were power and strength. Good times.

Back when you could activate MWD before coming out of warp. No warp to 0. 0.0 was full of random unaffiliated people doing their own thing, I remember distinctly seeing 100+ ppl in F67E just minding their own business and not trying to kill everything in sight. Solo and small gangs were all you encountered.
Everyone wanted a Moa or a thorax. Everyone used lasers. Bships were RARE (Bships weren't in game for a while after release). This was around release in 05 up til about 06 or early 07. Will the game ever go back to this? I highly doubt it, but it was the most fun I personally have ever had in EVE.

Right before the graphics update. Cooler effects and sounds, engine trails...Eve looked cool as heck. While more polished now it is also lacking in pow effects. Ships and everything looks better but the effects are not impressive.
other than Wormholes and the titan change has much changed space game wise? ______ Hello WoW players. Look at your toon, now back to me. Sadly it isn't me, but if it wasn't simplistic pre scripted linear mono dimensional game you could look like me. I'm in a Paladin |

Edited by: Barbelo Valentinian on 02/09/2011 02:04:03 Yep, I came in shortly before Trinity, and I remember being wowed by the quality and detail of the graphics, but disappointed in the art styling - it was just more boring than what had been before.
Same story has been repeated with the updated Carbon character creator and clothing, etc. Wonderful quality, but lacking imagination (or perhaps forbidden to use imagination?)
But even for a while after Trinity the game still felt like something special, unique. Now CCP seem to be whoring after some other imaginary playerbase and neglecting, indeed seemingly spitting on, the playerbase that's supported them for years.
But even deeper than that: the decline has been a gradual decline in community spirit. Instead of a game that's fired peoples' imaginations to feel like they were in an alternate "place", like the "EVE is real" propaganda aserts, it's gradually turned into a game of meaningless pew-pew.
Nothing wrong with meaningless pew-pew, but that's not what EVE was when I first played it, or at least it's not how most people who played it played it in those days. *****

I liked around Revelations time frame. Only because that was around the time exploration was first released. Anything before that not so sure about since I wasn't really around.

been playing since '04
i'd have to say 06 was the best? i dunno, i did like the period of no cap ships and no warp to 0.
ccp has certainly dropped the ball on blocking huge negative aspects that developed in game. they never did have a working idea on how to break up the blob, they never did give a **** about botting, (or if they did they have not wisely invested their assets in fixing the problem).
--- Players are losing faith and loyalty in CCP due previous expansions not living up to player expectations. The CSM and CCP agreed that expectation management can be improved |

meh apocrypha was the last good expansion imo.. started going downhill from there... ok dominion tyrannis and incursion had some good features, but apocrypha did so much for the game. incarna had absolutly no benefit though and along with many other people wish ccp would rollback to incursion. >.> |

I've got multiple accounts I've created over the years. I've just let one slip for the foreseeable future. But Patch wise for me the most exciting would have to be Trinity. Plus, it was an awesome vid that accompanied it.

I don't see how an expansion or change in features could make players evolve from being real pirates to "kill everything that moves Jan Brady tards".
Frankly I think it's the decline of the people playing it, and the world going to crap making people even worse.
Used to be that people would just watch an episode of "COPS" and relish on someone else getting hauled off to jail. Then they saw that Eve Online banner ad....

spose i better stick my nose into this one .... back in the day when we had mines (i still have some lyingabout somewhere ) they were fun but apparently caused too much laag so they were pulled . also when you requested permission to dock a character would appear either giving you permission or not .and prolly the coolest feature of for me was a 3 dimensional eve logo that rotated onto your screen when ever you logged into the game .... god i wish i could have had that as my desktop wallpaper it was really bloody cool ......happy days back in 2003 ...... and i still remember some of the quirky bugs like when your ships actually turned into asteroids... that was a mega time

Agree. Old characters had their identies and differences. Now with carbon characters, we all are the same.
Just like in RL, everything is being turned into American Junk Culture wich is ruled by few megabrands. Top of that all characters are same height, they aren't fat, they look like some weird **** experiment from 40s to be honest.

i think it was one of those short run"features" admittedly it didnt last very long ... but if you remember ccp at the time were pretty much patching every other bloody week .. ithink it may have been the case of "lets try this and if it causes the nodes to drop then lets pull it " type things ... and if you remember ...the nodes were at that time were dropping like there was no tomorrow. you could always email ccp for confirmation but they did actually implement this....if only for a very short time period .... trust me i thought i was seeing things aswell

^^ This. During that 1st year all you can see is how much potential Eve has.
1-2 years in, you really start to see where the flaws are, but you still have faith that great things are coming... If only the bitter vets would be patient and show some understandingà
After 2-4 years in, you've heard the promises, you've seen the delivery, and you stop expecting things to change. After that, youÆre just another bitter vet wishing something better would come alongà
