àexcept that the numbers do not agree with you. Summer usually increase the number of players, both because they have more free time to play and because there's usually a patch that boosts the numbers. This summer, the numbers did ù as usual ù increase when people started to have time off, but then dipped because of the patchà which is pretty much a first.
What we're seeing now, though, is not that: we're seeing the standard dip that happens when people go back to work/school at the end of summer. It's just that it comes on top of the unusual and significant drop that was caused by the release of Incarna, and that depresses the numbers (much) lower than one would have expected. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡ you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki

Originally by: Shadowsword There's always less activity in summer
No.
Originally by: Not-Apsalar It's Summer time. People go outside and do things in Summer time. Screw sitting in front of the computer for 4 hours, I'm going to the beach.
No.
Again: activity normally increases during the summer as people have more free time. We saw the same thing this summer, just like every summer before it (up until the point Incarna hit and online numbers started to plummet). The mythical ôsummer dipö does not happen until late summer/early autumn (i.e. right about this time) when people go back to school/work after their vacations.
Numbers going down right now is pretty much normal, but they have also been abnormally depressed by the release of Incarna, which should have boosted numbers alongside the normal increased summer activity. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡ you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki

Originally by: Cipher Jones Nostalgia is nice. Where Eve is headed is better than where it was. Only the shortsighted and smitten can't see this.
That all depends on what short-sighted decisions CCP make to get thereà ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡ you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki

Originally by: Cipher Jones I trust their business sense more than both of ours TBH.
Before Incarna, so did Ià mostly.
The statements made by their business guys made me waver on that point. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡ you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki

Originally by: Diomedes Calypso I am one that got turned of majorly by the underlying motivations and focus revealed in the Fearless newsletter and have dratically reduced (almost eliminated) my log in time. However, I can't conclude that the numbers show such a huge cause effect timing.
Wellà there was a slight bump in on-line players in the first 2-3 days after the patch (compared to the same weekdays before and after), but as the dTbacle kept on building, it kind of jumped off a cliffà
That post-patch Sunday is particularly telling, and while the post-patch Saturday had better numbers than the pre-patch one, it wasn't nearly as much as the preceding days ù already there, the population had started to sag. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡ you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki

Originally by: Black Dranzer Subscriber numbers would be more interesting to see that active online numbers, honestly.
àand funnily enough, they've decided to stop delivering those every few months.
Anyway, subscription count and population averages have been pretty darn closely linked and proportional to each other in the past, so it's decent enough a substitute. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡ you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki

Originally by: Diomedes Calypso My point, in the rest of that post, was that the added resource re****ents of the client could have led to less alts logged in and less time keeping a client logged in while semi or completely afk. That would have resulted in less average logged in numbers even with people equally interested due to cpu issues and the desire to maintain cpu power for more vital things than idle logged in clients.
àand I think that would have had a more immediate effect than one that pretty well matches the intensity of the raging. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡ you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki

Originally by: Randolph Meza Is it a coincidence that I don't recognize any of your corps or alliances?
No, it coincides pretty well with a 2 month old character who isn't familiar with the game or with the people voicing their concerns. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡ you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki
